Chapter 710 Learning That Lily Underwent Heart Surgery

Lily was out cold, and the office staff had already moved her to the sofa. She still hadn't come to, and the ambulance was on its way.

Her sudden collapse freaked everyone out because they knew how much Ophelia meant to Finnegan.

When Finnegan showed up and saw Lily pale and unconscious on the sofa, his heart sank. "Ophelia."

He had no clue why Lily had fainted and was too scared to touch her, worried he might make things worse.

Atticus chimed in, "Mr. Abbott, the ambulance is almost here."

Finnegan was a wreck, and the rest of the staff kept quiet.

No matter how much Finnegan called out to Lily, she didn't wake up.

The ambulance finally arrived, and Finnegan rode with her to the hospital. He was in a fog, his hands and feet ice-cold, terrified of losing Ophelia again.

At the hospital, Lily was rushed to the emergency room for a full check-up. Finnegan waited outside, hands clenched, anxiety eating at him.

After about ten minutes, the doctor came out and asked, "Has the patient had heart surgery?"

"Heart surgery?" Finnegan was stunned. Lily had never mentioned it, and the Ophelia he knew hadn't had any surgery either. "What? When did she have heart surgery? I had no idea."

"Judging by the recovery, it looks like it was at least a year ago," the doctor said. "She fainted because she missed her anti-rejection meds. These need to be taken on time; otherwise, it's dangerous. She also needs to avoid overexertion and get plenty of rest."

A year ago, that was around the time of the typhoon incident.

Finnegan asked, "Will this affect my wife's health?"

The doctor hesitated and then said, "With proper care, she can be as healthy as anyone. But if not managed well, it could shorten her lifespan."

"Thank you. One more thing. What conditions usually require heart surgery?" Finnegan was starting to piece things together.

The doctor replied, "Congenital heart disease or hereditary conditions."

Finnegan's brow furrowed.

'Ophelia never had congenital heart disease. Could it be hereditary? Does the Wilder family have this condition?' he wondered.

After the treatment, Lily was out of danger and moved to a ward. She woke up soon after.

Finnegan stayed by her side, relieved to see her awake. "Ophelia, are you feeling okay?"

Lily still looked a bit out of it. The memories before she fainted came rushing back, and she realized why she was in the hospital.

"I'm fine, don't worry," Lily responded weakly, still pale.

Finnegan held her hand gently. "Why didn't you tell me about the heart surgery? Why didn't you take your meds on time? What happened?"

Lily bit her lip. "I didn't want you to worry. When I woke up from that injury, it was already like this. I don't remember much."

"Just rest for now. Don't think about it." Finnegan didn't push further. Seeing her so pale, he couldn't bear to ask more.

Lily nodded and closed her eyes, drifting off to sleep.

Finnegan stayed by her side, watching her. Something didn't add up.

'How could she not know about the surgery? And why stop the meds?' he thought.

Lily hadn't really answered his questions.

Thinking about it, Finnegan gently covered her with a blanket, his eyes drifting to her waist. He remembered Ophelia had a birthmark there.

Glancing at the sleeping Lily, he felt an urge he couldn't resist and gently lifted her shirt.

After boss's baby, she Escape
