Chapter 115 Sneaky Finnegan

Hearing the phrase "granddaughter-in-law," Ophelia's heart raced, and she immediately turned around, not daring to look Finnegan in the eye.

They had only just started dating, hadn't they? How did things progress so quickly?

Finnegan noticed Ophelia's reaction, a smile tinting his eyes. He spoke to his grandmother on the phone, "Grandma, it's getting late, you should get some rest now."

"Alright, alright," old lady Abbott replied, her spirits lifted, "You can't fool your grandma this time; I still want to live to see a great-grandchild."

After hanging up the phone, old lady Abbott turned to Celia beside her, "My grandson said he would bring his fiancée home. It seems things are settled."

Celia didn't dare to ask Finnegan directly, so she had urged old lady Abbott to fish for clues.

Upon hearing that Finnegan intended to get married, Celia was overjoyed, "Then it seems there's really no problem. I can start to prepare. When they get engaged, it will be such a rush, and we won't have time. Niamh's birthday is next Tuesday, and maybe Finnegan will propose to her then, so we need to get ready in advance."

Celia assumed Finnegan had agreed to bring Niamh home to agree on the marriage between the two families, and she was thrilled.

...

After ending the call, Finnegan walked over and sat next to Ophelia, glancing at the content on her tablet screen, "Are you in charge of the Parks Corporation’s Horizon Project?"

Ophelia nodded, "Yeah, the CEO personally assigned it to me. The CEO thinks highly of me, has been really good to me. I can't let her down, so I have to win this bid for the project."

Ophelia had put a lot of effort into the Horizon Project in the preliminary stages and was gearing up for the bid next month.

Finnegan stretched out his hand and affectionately ruffled Ophelia's hair. His tone was indulgent, "You've got this, I believe in your professional capabilities."

Ophelia also felt confident, "I think there won't be any problem."

"Your birthday is next Tuesday, any thoughts?" Finnegan casually peeled an orange and handed it to Ophelia, "Maybe invite some friends for a meal? Introduce me to them while you're at it?"

Ophelia shot him a look, "You just want me to make our relationship official, don't you?"

It's often the woman who's in a hurry to make things official with a man, but with Finnegan, the tables had turned—it was always he who sought a defined status from Ophelia.

As a boyfriend, Finnegan was quite exemplary. Without being told, he knew to peel the oranges for her. An onlooker might think they were an old married couple.

A smile playing at the corner of Finnegan's mouth, and said with an understanding air, "If you feel inconvenienced, then forget it—in no rush here. Besides, in my current state, I can see why you might feel a little embarrassed to show me off."

Ophelia stifled a smile; his tone of mock disappointment could've fooled anyone into thinking he'd suffered the greatest injustice.

She fixed him with a look. "Finnegan, why do I get the sense that you're acting a bit like... well, a sneaky person?"

His 'sneaky' act was just too much.

Ophelia found it hard to resist the charm. A billionaire boyfriend, not something to be proud of?

A woman who flirts can be a force to reckon with, and a man who flirts can be just as disarming.

Finnegan laughed, "That's definitely your imagination. Alright, no more work, come sleep with me."

With that, he pulled her up into the bed.

Even though she knew they were just going to sleep, the blunt invitation couldn't help but lead to all sorts of thoughts.

After spending a couple of days together, Ophelia realized that Finnegan's former aloofness was all for show. In reality, he was sly as a fox, prideful yet dominant, gentle at times, and exceptionally warm-hearted—almost making her want to commit wholly to him.

Exhausted, Ophelia decided to join Finnegan in sleep.

Routine could be scary—after just two nights, she found herself addicted to having him wrap his arms around her. It felt incredibly comforting.

Soon enough, Ophelia drifted off to sleep, and while she was asleep, Finnegan picked up his phone and texted Atticus.

Finnegan: [Drop the Horizon Project project.]

'Can't be competing with my girlfriend—besides, the profit isn't significant. I'll give it to Ophelia, make her happy.' Finnegan thought.

In the days that followed, Finnegan felt completely justified in staying at Ophelia's place, wrapped in the bliss of their routine.

Caspian called to ask where he was, and Finnegan was in high spirits, his tone laced with a hint of boastfulness: "At my girlfriend's place—I've been staying here the past few days. What's up?"
