Chapter 455 Is There Evil Hidden
In order to reassure Ophelia, Finnegan could only tell the truth. "Magnus fell from the rooftop of the CC club last night and didn't make it. Landon is investigating this case. Preliminary judgment shows that it's not an accident. The suspect has been caught."
"Suspect?" Ophelia tried to sit up, but the pain in her lower body made her gasp for breath. "Who could Magnus have offended? Who could have killed him? What grudge could lead to his death."
"Ophe, don't get worked up." Finnegan comforted, "Magnus has been investigating Seraphina's death. The suspect Rex had contact with Seraphina before. I guess Magnus went to the cc club because of this Rex, and then he was killed."
"Why did Magnus go to investigate Seraphina's case? There are police handling the case. He's a lawyer. What was he doing? Why did Magnus go into such danger."
Ophelia felt extremely upset, tears streaming down her face. "Magnus is soft-hearted. No matter how others treat him, once something happens, he's always the first to rush in. If I haven't said those things about him before, maybe he wouldn't have ignored me and gone alone into danger."
Ophelia regretted. She knew Magnus was deeply troubled by Seraphina's death. Why didn't she pay more attention? Why didn't she advise Magnus? This tragedy may not have happened.
"Ophe, this has nothing to do with you. Don't blame yourself for everything." Finnegan held Ophelia's hand tightly, looking at her with deep eyes. "You just gave birth to a child and you can't cry like this. What's done is done. All we can do is find the killer and let Magnus rest in peace."
Ophelia's tears never dried. She stared at the ceiling, saying, "Finnegan, the people closest to me, one by one, have left me."
Finnegan could feel Ophelia's sadness. Dovie's death hadn't let Ophelia recover, and Magnus's accident was an even bigger blow.
Finnegan stayed by her side, trying to pull Ophelia out of her sorrow as much as possible.
Ophelia had just given birth, and Lynn and Addison came to visit.
The familiar faces and the care of friends helped ease Ophelia's grief.
Lynn wanted to hold the baby, but Celia seemed reluctant, so Lynn understood and refrained.
Celia's interest in Ophelia's child also indicated Ophelia's position in the Abbott family.
After a while in the hospital, Lynn left, and Carl Nelson was waiting for her at the door.
Seeing Lynn coming out, Carl approached. "Lynn, let's go."
"Let's go," Lynn said. "Ophelia is really lucky. I used to think Finnegan wouldn't love anyone and didn't know how to treat someone well. I thought Finnegan was cold but it turns out Finnegan has a gentle side. He feeds Ophelia by hand, changes her pads himself and washes her face and hands, all carefully checking the temperature."
That's all done out of love for someone.
Even though someone at the hospital could have done these things, Finnegan chose to take care of them personally.
Carl said, "Lynn, look back at me. You can also have such feelings."
Lynn looked back at Carl. She understood.
But love needs mutual affection. If not, the feeling is completely different.
"Go back." Lynn didn't give a direct answer.
As she walked out of the hospital gates, Lynn ran into Caspian, who had come to visit.
"Lynn, what a coincidence," Caspian greeted. "Have you seen Ophelia?"
"I just saw her. She had a daughter," Lynn said. "You can go up and see her. I'll go back to the studio first."
Lynn didn't say much and left with Carl.
Caspian sighed. Lynn was also outstanding, young and beautiful, with no shortage of suitors. If Finnegan hadn't married Ophelia, perhaps Lynn would have become the lady of the Abbott family.
Caspian was lucky to meet Lynn, and as they entered the elevator, they ran into Niamh coming out of the adjacent elevator.
"Niamh? What are you doing here? You're not here to see Ophelia, are you?" Caspian was very wary. Niamh had tried to harm Ophelia several times, almost harming the baby in Ophelia's belly before.
Caspian didn't believe that Niamh, who had tried to harm Ophelia, was now genuinely visiting her.
