Chapter 146: Jumping Off a Building
This was the first time Celia had heard of this.
Jude and Dovie had a past?
So she had set up her own son with Dovie's daughter - wasn't that a joke?
As the conversation had reached this point, Jude confessed, "Back then, didn't Mom and Uncle Parks arrange an engagement between our families? Dovie was the eldest daughter of the Parks Family, and I was the eldest son of the Abbott's Family. Naturally, they tried to match us together, but Dovie wasn't interested in me, she had someone else she liked."
"She wasn't interested in you? So if she had been, you would have gotten married back then?" Celia interrogated, holding onto this matter. "Do you like Dovie?"
When it came to matters like this, women were definitely sensitive and would ask until the end.
Jude was taken aback by this situation and felt insecure. "What I like, that wasn't determined by our parents either. It didn't work out in the end, after all these decades, it's all ancient history now. It's in the past. What I mean is, our son doesn't necessarily have to marry a Parks Family daughter. I still have a few nephews, don't I? They're also surnamed Abbott."
"How can we let them benefit from this?" Celia immediately objected. "If they marry Niamh, won't they have the confidence to compete with our son?"
"What can we do? Our son is already married. What else can we do? Do you really want to have a falling out with our son? Mother and son not getting along?" Jude asked curiously. "What did you do to Grace back then? How did that girl leave A City?"
These words silenced Celia, bringing her memories back to a few years ago.
In order to drive Grace away, Celia spent time and even found someone... to humiliate Grace.
She thought she had kept it a secret, but Finnegan found out.
Because of this, Finnegan and Celia's relationship became strained, mother and son not getting along.
Celia knew very well that her son was in a hurry to get a marriage certificate with Ophelia, just to prevent her from using the same trick on Ophelia as she did on Grace.
With a marriage certificate, they would be legally married, and she couldn't find someone to assault her own daughter-in-law.
Celia didn't want to mention Grace and changed the topic. "Anyway, I don't accept Ophelia marrying our son. I will find a way to make them divorce. I don't like that daughter-in-law."
Jude slammed the water glass onto the table and said, "You go ahead and mess around, just be careful if our son really holds you accountable."
Jude didn't care anymore.

As soon as Ophelia arrived at the company, she joined Dovie for a meeting to discuss the Horizon Project.
The project had already been secured, and Ophelia was now responsible for the follow-up work. She was given the credit for this achievement.
During the meeting, Dovie commended Ophelia in front of everyone and gave her real authority, putting her in charge of the Horizon Project.
The feeling of being trusted and relied upon made Ophelia particularly happy.
After the meeting, when they returned to the CEO's office, Dovie smiled warmly and said, "Ophelia, you did really well just now. The proposal was also written very well. I trust you with this project."
"CEO, don't worry, I will handle this project well," Ophelia said.
