Chapter 665 Till Death Do Us Part

Finnegan didn't want to wake up, even subconsciously.

Raymond sighed, and Landon said, "Looks like he knows something happened to Ophelia and can't handle it, so he's avoiding waking up. I never thought I'd see real, undying love these days."

When they were younger, around eighteen or nineteen, they believed in love. But now, neither Landon nor Raymond believed in it anymore. If they ever got married, it would be after considering all the factors and deciding it was the right time, finding a suitable partner, having kids, and making their families happy.

They might like or even love someone, but they didn't think undying love was possible.

Nowadays, many men remarried within a month after their wives passed away.

Raymond sighed again, said nothing, and left the room.

He met Susan and apologized, "Sorry, we couldn't find Ophelia."

"You all did your best." Susan, leaning on her cane, couldn't blame anyone. "If anyone's to blame, it's me. If Ophelia had gotten on the speedboat first, she wouldn't have had an accident. I'm old. It should have been me."

Mentioning Ophelia brought Susan to tears.

In Susan's view, Ophelia didn't die in the typhoon. It was her failure to raise Lloyd properly that led to this day.

Susan really didn't know how she would face Finnegan when he woke up.

"My condolences," Raymond said, bowing deeply.

Landon also bowed.

Susan waved her hand and wiped her tears.

Raymond left the hospital and headed to the prison to visit Tate, breaking the news that Lloyd was dead.

When Tate heard this, she felt an overwhelming sense of relief wash over her. She whispered, "It's finally over."

"Yeah, it's over," Raymond replied, hesitating. "Ophelia went missing in the typhoon."

He didn't say she was dead. Without a body, there was still a sliver of hope.

Tate's eyes widened in shock. "How did Ophelia end up at sea?"

"Lloyd took her. Susan and Warmie were rescued, but Ophelia went missing," Raymond explained. "It was just bad luck that a typhoon hit. No one saw it coming. Finnegan's been in a coma for days now."

Tate was at a loss for words, feeling a deep sadness. Aria was gone, and now Ophelia, who had brought her comfort, was missing too.

In that moment, Tate felt a cold emptiness inside. She thought leaving Moonlight Gate meant freedom, but true freedom had come at a steep price.

Ophelia was the first friend she made after leaving Moonlight Gate.

Tate clenched her fists. After a while, she looked at Raymond and asked, "Is there really no way to find her?"

'Without a body, could she still be alive?' Tate wondered.

"About fifty people were lost at sea, and only twenty bodies have been found," Raymond said. "In the vast ocean, after a typhoon, finding bodies is really tough."

Tate stayed silent, her heart racing and unable to settle.

Maybe she just needed more time to come to terms with it.

Raymond didn't want to bring it up, but he also didn't want to lie to Tate. He stayed with her for a while, and by the time he got home from work, it was already really late.

Barbara had come over to clean Raymond's place today, using it as an excuse to check on him.

Seeing how exhausted Raymond looked, Barbara said with concern, "Raymond, you haven't taken a break in ages. If you're really worn out, why not take some time off?"

Raymond rubbed his temples, realizing he hadn't taken a vacation in a year.

He had never used his annual leave.

Now that Moonlight Gate was dismantled, his mission was complete, and he could finally slow down and get some rest.

"Alright," Raymond agreed and asked, "Mom, where do you want to go? I'll take you out."

Barbara had just mentioned it offhand, not expecting Raymond to actually agree to take a vacation.

A workaholic taking time off was pretty unusual.

Barbara asked worriedly, "Raymond, is something wrong? Are you hiding something from me?"

"No, I'm just a bit tired. I recently wrapped up a big case, so I'm giving myself a break," Raymond said. "Mom, is there anywhere you want to go?"

"Oh, you had me worried," Barbara sighed in relief and said, "Sandra's birthday is coming up. I want to go to the church to pray for her."

Hearing this, Raymond remembered that Tate's birthday was also coming up.

After boss's baby, she Escape
