Chapter 690 Brushing Past

Gavin's reaction made Finnegan even more certain it was Ophelia.

But he couldn't figure out why Ophelia didn't go home.

When Gavin mentioned Lily went to Yorkhaven, Finnegan guessed she might head back home.

Thinking this, Finnegan bought an afternoon ticket to Yorkhaven.

Lynn was still waiting at the hotel, anxious and worried Finnegan would be disappointed.

Before long, Finnegan returned and hurriedly told Lynn to pack up; they were heading to Yorkhaven.

Lynn asked, "Did you see Ophelia?"

"Ophelia went to Yorkhaven," Finnegan said. "She must've gone home."

Lynn felt hopeful. If Ophelia really came back, it would be good news for the Abbott family, and Finnegan might finally find some peace.

They all went back to Yorkhaven together. Lynn called Celia to inform her but didn't mention Ophelia, as they hadn't seen her yet.

By the time they arrived in Yorkhaven, it was evening. Celia and Jude had arranged for a car to pick them up at the airport.

Celia came in person, and the moment she saw Finnegan, her eyes filled with tears. "Finnegan, you're finally back."

The first thing Finnegan asked was, "Celia, has Ophelia come back?"

Celia was stunned, thinking Finnegan was still traumatized and hadn't recovered after all these months.

"Finnegan, Ophelia is gone. Now that you're back, don't leave again, for Warmie's sake."

"Ophelia is back." Finnegan looked normal, but his words scared Celia a bit.

Celia looked at Lynn, who shook her head.

Finnegan continued, "Ophelia must've gone home. Celia, you take Warmie back to the old mansion. I'll drive and check at home."

With that, Finnegan drove off in a hurry, leaving Celia puzzled. She asked Lynn, "What's going on? Why does Finnegan seem even more odd?"

"He really saw Ophelia. We went to the beach where Ophelia had her accident and saw her," Lynn explained. "Then he said Ophelia went back to Yorkhaven, so we rushed back. Maybe Ophelia really did come back."

"Can the dead come back to life?" Celia found it too unbelievable.

In the upscale villa area was Finnegan and Ophelia's home. Lily got off the plane and took a cab there.

She couldn't get into the community. While she was wandering at the entrance, the security guard recognized her and said, "Mrs. Abbott, you're back. Haven't seen you for a long time."

Lily didn't react immediately but smiled politely.

The news of Ophelia's accident wasn't widely publicized, and no funeral was held. Besides those in their circle, few people knew about it.

With so much time having passed, it was natural that people forgot.

The security guard opened the gate for Lily. She thanked him and casually asked, "Which way to Building 36?"

The security guard laughed, "Mrs. Abbott, have you forgotten your own home? It's to the left, the one at the very end."

"Thank you," Lily smiled and didn't explain anything.

She walked to the left. The security guard stood there puzzled, muttering to himself, "What's up with Mrs. Abbott? She doesn't even remember her own home."

As dusk fell, the community's streetlights came on. Following the signs, Lily arrived in front of Villa 36.

Lily stood at the entrance, looking at everything in the yard. Memories flooded her mind, and her heart ached inexplicably.

Lily looked up at the villa's balcony, which had many flowers that were now withered, leaving only the pots.

The weather was chilly, and there were fallen leaves in the yard. Since no one lived there, a housekeeper only came to clean occasionally.

Lily didn't have many memories of this house. She tried to recall more, but her head hurt.

Recently, some memories had inexplicably surfaced in her mind, prompting her to visit Yorkhaven.

Unable to get in, Lily stood at the entrance for a while before leaving.

As fate would have it, a missed encounter would let one miss the person who wanted to see.

Just as Lily left, Finnegan arrived by car. He drove straight into the underground parking lot. Returning home, he saw the door was closed with no signs of anyone having been there, and he felt a wave of disappointment.

Finnegan pushed open the gate, his mind filled with memories of living here with Ophelia.

"Mr. Abbott, you're back too."

It was the security guard on patrol.
