Chapter 380 A Trip to France
As Dovie was hospitalized, some of the real power in her hands could only be handed over to Niamh.
The doctor also strongly recommended that Dovie be hospitalized for observation, as her physical injuries were quite severe.
After gaining real power, Niamh returned to the company, while Natalie stayed in the hospital to take care of Dovie.
Dovie found an excuse to send Natalie away. "Natalie, go home and help me pack some toiletries."
"Okay, you rest well, I'll be back soon." Natalie didn't think much of it. She was quite happy that Niamh finally got some real power.
After Natalie left, Dovie called the doctor and asked, "Doctor, is my body not going to last long? Recently, I've been losing a lot of hair, often have palpitations, nightmares, and feel chest tightness and shortness of breath."
The doctor said, "These are all caused by your excessive stress. Don't worry too much. Pay attention to rest and diet, and take care of your body."
Dovie felt relieved. She had worried that her poor health would prevent her from finding her daughter, and her regret was not being able to see her.
"Thank you, doctor." Dovie breathed a sigh of relief.
Given her condition, she couldn't visit Ophelia, so she called Ophelia to show her concern.
After lying in bed for a while, Dovie fell asleep in a daze. She had been like this recently, listless and dizzy.
Dovie was startled awake. When she opened her eyes, a man was standing in front of her.
"Dovie." The man was polite. "Did I wake you?"
It was the private detective Dovie had hired.
"It's you." Dovie propped herself up, took a moment, and asked, "Any news?"
"After investigation, some girls have been ruled out. There are still eight girls left to be checked." The private detective said, "Dovie, are you okay?"
"I'm fine." Dovie was a bit anxious. "Please find my daughter as soon as possible."
"Okay, Dovie, I need to take a few strands of your hair for a DNA test later. It will make things easier."
"No problem." Dovie immediately pulled out a few strands of hair and handed them to the private detective. "I'm entrusting everything to you."
Although the doctor said she was fine, she felt her body was failing and feared she wouldn't see her daughter.
The private detective assured her, "Don't worry."
When Natalie returned to the hospital, she happened to see the private detective coming out of the room.
They met in the hallway. Natalie didn't recognize the private detective and was curious about a strange man coming out of Dovie's room, especially since he didn't look like someone from the company.
Natalie entered the room and asked, "Who was that man who just left?"
"A company employee." Dovie casually made up an excuse.
In General Hospital, Ophelia was also uneasy, constantly thinking about Finnegan in the France. But she had to keep her spirits up and recover quickly to go to France to find Finnegan.
In the following days, the incident of Finnegan raping a female manager in France continued to ferment online. However, the Abbott's Corporation's PR department couldn't suppress the news.
Because of that, Abbott's Corporation's stock price plummeted, losing twenty billion in market value daily, which was the biggest scandal of the year.
Magnus, far away in his hometown, saw the news and was worried. He called Ophelia, "Ophelia, are you okay?"
"I'm fine." Ophelia had been in the hospital for three days and planned to be discharged today. Celia was handling the discharge procedures, and Ophelia had already changed clothes and was ready to leave.
"I saw the news." Magnus said. "Don't worry, these cases don't get resolved quickly, especially cross-border ones. They are more difficult and time-consuming."
Ophelia was well aware of the situation. The most pressing issue now was that Finnegan couldn't be bailed out. The longer it dragged on, the worse it would be for Finnegan and the company.
So Ophelia decided to take a trip to France
"Thanks for your concern. I have things to do. We'll talk later when I have time." Ophelia was not in the mood to ask Magnus about his situation back home.
"Okay." Magnus didn't say more.
At this moment, Magnus was sitting on a hillside in his hometown, watching the sunset.
He had been back home for over a month, and the people in the nearby villages all knew him. When he returned that day, Tobias made a big show of it.
Magnus knew very well that Tobias's actions were not out of joy but to let others know he had a son to rely on in his old age.
"Magnus." Serenity came back from school and found Magnus on the hillside. "Why are you sitting here?"
"I'm looking at the other side of the mountain." Magnus gazed into the distance. "Serenity, you must study hard. For us poor folks, the only way to change our fate is through education. When I'm no longer around, you must learn to protect yourself."
Serenity innocently asked, "Where are you going? Are you leaving?"
