Chapter 760 Confrontation
Warmie missed her mom a lot. She stared at the ocean, softly calling out for her, so soft it sounded almost like a whisper.
Lynn heard Warmie and felt a sharp pain. She hugged the child tight and kissed her forehead.
Celia thought Warmie was missing Ophelia and felt sad. 'Such a young kid, this is when they need their parents most,' she couldn't help thinking.
Warmie used to be the beloved daughter of the Abbott family, but over the years, she hadn't gotten much affection from her parents.
With Ophelia gone, Finnegan couldn't take care of Warmie either.
Celia called Susan and found out everyone was at the hospital.
Celia was confused about why they were all there. Susan couldn't say much over the phone. When she heard Celia had Warmie, she said, "Don't bring Warmie here yet. We don't want to scare her. Find a hotel for now, and we'll come to you later."
"Scare Warmie?" Celia was even more puzzled. "Mom, what's going on?"
Susan, speaking quietly from the hallway, said, "It's complicated. Just take Warmie to a hotel and send me the address."
Then Susan hung up.
Celia muttered, "Lynn, Susan told us to stay at a hotel first."
"What are they doing at the hospital? Who's in the hospital?" Lynn had overheard a bit.
"I don't know, Susan didn't say." Celia glanced at Warmie and said to Lynn, "Let's find a hotel and get Warmie something to eat."
Lynn agreed. "Alright."
They found a hotel near the beach with the help of a taxi driver.
After checking in, Lynn, still worried, left Warmie with Celia and went to the hospital to see what was going on.
By the time she reached the hospital, it was late at night.
In the ward, only Finnegan was there with Lily. He had locked the door, so everyone else had to wait outside.
Gavin was worried Finnegan might harm Lily and tried to force his way in several times. Dylan held him back, saying, "Lily is already in this condition. I don't believe Finnegan would do anything to her. Let's wait and see."
Gavin finally relented.
Even if he wanted to break in, he couldn't. Tate and Caspian were standing guard.
Susan returned after making her call and sat in the hallway, waiting with everyone else for Lily to wake up.
Susan hoped Finnegan would accept this new Lily, for Warmie's sake. Lily had Ophelia's heart and had surgery to look like Ophelia. Essentially, Lily carried a part of Ophelia in her.
Sitting with her cane for support, Susan was approached by Caspian. "Susan, what do you think? If it were you, what would you do?"
Susan replied simply, "Warmie needs a mom."
Her words made her stance clear.
Caspian felt the same way. "Yes, Warmie is too young. The best outcome would be for Lily to continue being Ophelia. That way, she could at least make the family whole again."
But everyone knew this would require Finnegan to forget about his love for Ophelia.
It was a cruel demand for Finnegan.
Susan sighed deeply.
Just then, Gavin's voice came through. "Dad, I think Lily is waking up."
Gavin had been peeking through the window and saw Lily opening her eyes.
As memories of her injury flooded back, Lily's consciousness gradually returned.
Finnegan was sitting beside her, watching her wake up. When she opened her eyes, his gaze turned icy cold, as if he were looking at an enemy.
Yet the enemy who had taken Ophelia's heart had a face identical to Ophelia's, stirring his love for her.
Love and hate intertwined, and Finnegan had to suppress his emotions to sit there calmly, waiting for Lily to wake up.
Before Lily woke up, Finnegan had rechecked the birthmark on her waist, which was now gone. She had deceived him before, likely using some kind of ointment.
When Lily opened her eyes and met Finnegan's icy gaze, she felt a chill in her heart. In that instant, she realized she could no longer hide the truth.
Finnegan had never looked at Ophelia with such coldness, not even when Lily had asked for a divorce or made him believe she was unfaithful. He had always looked at her with love.
"Finnegan." Lily's voice was hoarse and uncertain, her heart filled with fear.
