Chapter 60 Seraphina's Exposure
Seraphina was bursting with excitement, even going so far as to spray on her mint-scented perfume. She had noticed before that Finnegan seemed to like this scent, so she had switched back to it.
...
At Star Moon Club, Finnegan was still drinking with Caspian in the private room.
The more he drank, the more restless he became. Amidst the fog of alcohol, his mind was filled with thoughts of Ophelia. He felt like he was going crazy. He knew that woman was a liar and was carrying someone else's child, yet he still missed her. His desire to possess Ophelia was so intense.
Finnegan opened another bottle of wine, which shocked Caspian.
He counted the bottles - six in total. The aftereffects of foreign liquor were very strong.
Caspian muttered to himself, "He's already had six bottles this time. When Grace Parker had an accident, he only drank two. Does Ophelia weigh three times more in Finnegan's heart than Grace?"
"Finnegan, how about we call it a day?" Caspian checked the time, and it seemed that Ophelia really wasn't coming.
He reminded him, "Five years ago, when Grace had an accident, you only drank two bottles. Now you've had six."
At the mention of Grace, Finnegan's eyes narrowed, and he immediately drained his glass.
Outside the private room, Atticus glanced inside through the glass door. Upon seeing Finnegan still drinking, he also felt that something was off.
Atticus wondered if Miss Sinclair's work mistake was what left such a big impact on Mr. Abbott.
Just then, Ophelia's figure came into view; she was walking over from the elevator.
Atticus was surprised, "Miss Sinclair, how come you're here?"
"Is Mr. Abbott inside?" Ophelia asked, looking through the glass door at Finnegan who was drinking inside.
Atticus nodded, "Yes, he's been drinking for a long time. I don't know what's wrong with Mr. Abbott. Are you here to find Mr. Abbott?"
Atticus was genuinely confused. Ophelia's mistake in the conference room, or her defiance, wouldn't have made him this upset.
He had been with Finnegan for eight years and knew him somewhat. This time was definitely unusual.
Ophelia stood at the door, hesitating. What status should she enter with? She was no longer his secretary.
Noticing Ophelia's hesitation, Atticus thought she was here to plead with Finnegan and said, "Miss Sinclair, I advise you not to go in now. Wait until Mr. Abbott sobers up, and then say some nice words to him. He will let you return to the company. Mr. Abbott is cold on the outside but warm on the inside. Besides, you have signed a labor contract with the company. Your contract has not yet been terminated, so you can rest at home for a couple of days and come back when Mr. Abbott's anger subsides."
Ophelia didn't explain that she wasn't here to plead.
After hearing what Atticus said, she was even more unsure about what she could do or say if she went in. Finnegan would probably be even more harsh.
After looking at Finnegan drinking through the glass, Ophelia suddenly made up her mind, "Mr. Montgomery, I have something to discuss with Mr. Abbott..."
She decided to tell Finnegan the truth about her pregnancy.
She decided to tell Finnegan that he was the father of the child. Whether Finnegan would be angry or not, she was willing to take the risk. She also chose to trust Caspian this time. As the father of the child, Finnegan had the right to know the truth.
However, just as Ophelia was about to push the door open, the sound of high heels came from the direction of the elevator.
A woman was hurrying over.
Ophelia instinctively turned her head, only to see Seraphina rushing over, "Mr. Montgomery..."
Upon seeing Ophelia, Seraphina stopped abruptly.
Seraphina didn't have time to hide this time; she had been caught red-handed.
Just as Ophelia was about to ask Seraphina why she was here, Atticus spoke up, "Miss Kingsley, you're finally here. Mr. Abbott is inside."
Miss Kingsley?
Ophelia was stunned, and a shock ran through her. She glanced at Seraphina, then at Atticus.
She seemed to understand something but found it hard to believe.
"Seraphina, are you Miss Kingsley?" Ophelia asked in astonishment, "What is your relationship with Finnegan?"
Could it be that Seraphina was Finnegan's girlfriend, Miss Kingsley?
Seraphina looked guilty, neither admitting nor denying.
Seeing the situation, Atticus was puzzled, "Miss Sinclair, this is Mr. Abbott's girlfriend Miss Kingsley. You've met her before."
Yes, she had met her at Orchid Garden.
However, at that time, Ophelia hadn't recognized her.
Ophelia stared at Seraphina in disbelief. She never thought that Seraphina would be Finnegan's girlfriend, the Miss Kingsley who lived in the Orchid Garden.
What she understood even less was why Seraphina didn't dare to admit it, and why she didn't introduce Finnegan to them openly, but instead hid and lied.
She couldn't understand why Seraphina had become Finnegan's girlfriend!
"Why?" Ophelia stared at Seraphina, "Why? Why?"
Ophelia asked "why" three times.
Why didn't she want to admit it?
Why was she hiding?
Why was it Seraphina?
