Chapter 518 Search
Anthony was not afraid at all. He sat on the couch, casually playing with the silver chain on his wrist, and said with a smile, "Tate, Finnegan is your task. I have already told you his whereabouts. Why are you asking me?"
"After I failed, Finnegan's car exploded off the cliff. When I arrived, Finnegan was gone, and Atticus was there. Did you do it?" Tate asked seriously, lightly cutting Anthony's skin with a dagger.
Blood beads instantly emerged, flowing along the blade.
Anthony wiped the smile off his face, not daring to be careless. "Tate, I really don't know. Put the knife down first. Let's not ruin our relationship."
Tate glanced at the gun and bullets on the table. "You just got back, too. There's one less bullet in your gun. Tell me, where is Finnegan? You have one more chance. Don't think I won't kill you."
"Tate, Finnegan is missing. I truly don't know..."
Before Anthony could finish his sentence, a familiar voice came from inside the room. "Tate, put the knife down." The deep voice carried authority, indicating it was a command.
Tate's heart tightened. She turned around and saw a middle-aged man walking out of the room, surprised. "Master, when did you arrive?"
The man was in his fifties, dressed in casual sportswear, holding a Rubik's Cube, something that he always carried with him. He had a crew cut and a black mole on his chin. This man was Lloyd Nguyen, the founder of Moonlight Gate.
Lloyd just glanced at Tate, and Tate put away the knife. Anthony's face showed a smug smile. "Tate, I was just about to tell you that Master is here."
Tate's expression was cold as she looked at Lloyd. "Master, why did you want me to kill Finnegan? There is no employer. Why did you do this?"
"Are you questioning your master?" Lloyd's eyebrows furrowed, exuding authority without anger.
Having been by Lloyd's side for many years, Tate naturally knew of Lloyd's terror.
Tate lowered her head. "No, I just want to know why and who took Finnegan away."
"Your task is completed. You don't need to know more about this." Lloyd sat down, playing with the Rubik's Cube in his hand. "You should go back."
Tate remained silent, her attitude clear. She did not want to return to Moonlight Gate.
"Not willing to go back?" Lloyd's tone was calm, but it carried a hint of killing intent. He didn't need a puppet that didn't obey his words.
Anthony also sensed the killing intent emanating from Lloyd, somewhat gloating. Once Tate fell out of favor, he would be the master's most favored disciple.
Tate bit her lip. "Master, I want to stay here."
Tate spoke this with the courage to face abandonment. Rather than going back to those risky days, Tate would rather end her life at this moment.
Anthony was extremely excited on the side. However, Lloyd said, "If you want to stay, then stay. City N is a good place. I haven't been back in thirty years. It's time to see old friends."
Anthony was surprised. A hint of disappointment flashed across his face. 'Does the master actually let Tate go like this?' he thought.
Tate was also very surprised as she had prepared herself to be abandoned. She didn’t expect the master agreed to let her stay.
Ophelia arrived at the police station and walked quickly inside. She ran into Landon, who was also puzzled. "Mrs. Abbott, it's late. What are you doing here?"
The case that happened tonight was not under Landon's jurisdiction, so he didn't know what had happened.
Ophelia said, "Something happened to Finnegan. Mario asked me to come."
"Mrs. Abbott, this way." Mario walked over. "Please come this way."
Ophelia immediately followed, with Landon following behind.
In the office, Mario said, "Mrs. Abbott, here's what happened. Mr. Abbott's car was found at the cliff a few minutes ago, burned to ashes, with only an empty shell left. We haven't found Mr. Abbott yet. Atticus is still in the hospital being treated. We don't know the cause of the explosion. Our colleagues are still searching for Mr. Abbott in the mountains."
