Chapter 605 Taking the Initiative
Tate rubbed her head and looked at Raymond, who was staring at her with a mix of tension and anticipation.
Raymond was thrilled by that single word. He hugged Tate tightly. "I finally found you. Get some rest. Are you hungry? What would you like to eat? I'll get it for you."
Tate hadn't eaten since she was captured yesterday, and she was also sick with a fever, feeling weak and hungry.
Tate said, "Raymond, I want to eat waffles."
"No problem, I'll go get them right away. You rest first," Raymond said, then called out, "Jerry, come in for a moment."
Jerry pushed the door open and entered. "Raymond."
"Take care of Tate. I'm going out to get some things," Raymond said, without acknowledging Tate's identity to his colleague.
Given the sensitive situation, he thought it best to keep their relationship private, which Tate understood.
Tate understood and didn't say anything.
Raymond left to buy food and handle some matters. He couldn’t let Tate be taken back to counter-terrorism, nor would he hand her over to Landon’s team.
Citing the danger from Moonlight Gate potentially trying to silence Tate, he requested permission to isolate her and take her to his home for personal supervision and interrogation, promising to extract valuable information about Moonlight Gate.
With his long-standing reputation in counter-terrorism, Raymond's superiors trusted and supported him without hesitation.
After getting approval from his superiors, Raymond arranged for Tate to be discharged from the hospital in the afternoon and secretly brought her to his own place.
He didn't dare to take her back to the Stewart family for now, so he brought her to his house outside.
"Don't be too reserved. You'll live here from now on. There are three rooms; you can choose any one. I'm usually busy and rarely come back," Raymond said warmly, afraid she might feel uncomfortable.
Tate glanced at the house and said, "Okay."
Raymond added, "If you need anything, let me know. To avoid being tracked by Moonlight Gate, it's best you stay inside. The house is equipped with surveillance and automatic alerts. I’ll be notified of any danger."
Raymond explained these precautions to prevent Tate from thinking he was monitoring her.
"Raymond, will I be a burden to you?" Tate, although she didn't remember the past, pieced together the information she had and realized she was a dangerous person now, potentially affecting Raymond's career.
"I can handle it," Raymond reassured her, concealing his own difficulties. "For now, I can't take you home. If your whereabouts are exposed, it will be very bad for you. I know a doctor who can help you recover your memory, so we can take the initiative."
Tate's expression was cold. "Aren't you afraid that once I remember, I won't betray Moonlight Gate?"
"Your last name is Stewart. You're my sister. I trust you know right from wrong," Raymond said, patting her shoulder. "Even if you don’t provide information, you’re still my beloved sister."
Tate hesitated to speak. It was the safest for her to stay here currently.
She decided to stay and try to recover her memory quickly. She knew Raymond wouldn't harm her, and this place was very safe.
No one would know that a counter-terrorism unit captain was hiding a Moonlight Gate assassin in his house.
"Raymond, can you buy me some materials? I want to make something." Tate wanted to make a mask.
Although she’d lost her memory, her training at Moonlight Gate was ingrained in her muscles, like knowing how to read or speak multiple languages.
Raymond didn't ask and readily agreed. "Sure, no problem. I'll bring them to you tonight."
Caspian didn't know that things had taken a turn for the better. He was still troubled about how to help Tate.
Caspian had no choice but to find Karen to gather information.
Meanwhile, at Moonlight Gate, Anthony and Aria were acting separately.
As night fell, the two infiltrated the counter-terrorism unit one after the other but found nothing.
Aria was relieved, torn between fear for Tate’s safety and relief at not finding her.
Not finding her might not be a bad thing.
'What if Tate was in danger?' Aria thought.
Anthony and Aria left the counter-terrorism unit one after the other and came to the riverside.
Anthony asked, "How did it go on your end?"
Aria shook her head. "I didn't find her."
