Chapter 116 Misunderstandings Caused by Picking Out Gifts Personally

That one sentence carried a lot of information.

Full of bragging material.

Caspian felt as if he had just been force-fed a dose of "relationship bliss": "Finnegan, do you really have to rub it in like that, making us single folks jealous?"

Ever since Finnegan started dating Ophelia, Caspian felt like he was getting to know a whole new Finnegan.

The Finnegan of the past would never show off like this.

Despite being insanely wealthy and having no shortage of women willing to throw themselves at him, Finnegan had eyes only for Ophelia. Failing to entice Ophelia to come to the extravagant Orchid Garden, he had eagerly moved in with her instead.

Caspian had never realized that Finnegan was such a romantic, almost to the point where if Ophelia asked him to become a secondary partner, he would probably agree.

Finnegan replied with a laugh in his voice, "There's a kind of happiness in having a girlfriend that you, my single friend, wouldn't understand."

"Finnegan, I've had my fair share of romances. I just happen to be single at the moment," Caspian said teasingly. "I'm just calling to see how your injury is doing. With you living at Miss Sinclair's day in and day out, if there's any... vigorous activity, I fear that wound of yours isn't going to heal anytime soon."

Mentioning that made Finnegan feel like hitting Oscar again.

On account of his injury, he couldn't do any substantial thing with Ophelia.

Since the wound hadn't fully healed, Finnegan was worried it might affect his performance, giving Ophelia a subpar experience.

The first time they'd be intimate while he was fully conscious, he had to make a good impression on Ophelia, to avoid any loss of confidence in his capabilities.

It was a matter of male pride.

Caspian's comment had definitely hit a sore spot, and Finnegan responded, "The injury's healing fine. Gotta go."

"Ha, Finnegan, it sounds like you're not ..." Caspian joked, but before he could finish, Finnegan hung up the phone.

Caspian couldn't stop laughing as he stared at the disconnected call, his friends around him curious. "Hey Caspian, what's got you so cheery? Spill the beans! Who is Finnegan's new girlfriend, anyway?"

"You think you can dig into Finnegan's private life? He'd silence me if he found out," replied Caspian, adamant in keeping the secret.

...

Finnegan glanced at the calendar. Tomorrow was Tuesday, Ophelia's birthday. He needed to get her a birthday present. Something too expensive, and Ophelia wouldn't accept it, so Finnegan decided to head out to the mall himself to choose the gift.

He made a call and his driver appeared downstairs in the residential complex within half an hour. As Finnegan got into the car, he said, "Take me to the department store."

Once at the department store, Finnegan made a beeline for the jewelry section. He walked into a branded boutique, and a sales associate came up to him at once. "Good afternoon, sir! What can I assist you with today?"

"I'm looking at necklaces," said Finnegan.

The sales associate, a bit shy as she wasn't accustomed to serving such a handsome man, responded, "Right this way, sir. We have some new arrivals. Are you looking for something for your girlfriend or a family member? And may I inquire about the price range you're considering?"

"For my girlfriend," Finnegan pondered. "Around twenty thousand should be fine. It's her birthday tomorrow, and I want to get her a necklace as a birthday present."

Nothing too expensive, as Ophelia wouldn't take it. It would be meaningless to make such a purposeless purchase.

The sales associate, clearly envious, said, "Sir, your girlfriend is very lucky. What do you think of these? They would all be particularly fitting."

Who wouldn't be jealous? To have such an attractive boyfriend, and one willing to splurge on such an expensive gift.

Finnegan browsed the selection and was quickly drawn to a necklace with a four-leaf clover pendant. The four-leaf clover represented luck.

"I'll take this one," he pointed at the four-leaf clover necklace.

"Sir, you have great taste. This particular piece is designed by the renowned Flandre, a highlight of this year's runway collection called 'Lucky in Love,'" the sales associate explained. "It's twenty thousand, nine hundred and eighty dollars. Would you like that wrapped up?"

"Wrap it up," said Finnegan as he handed over his credit card.

As Finnegan was finalizing the purchase, Niamh, who was window-shopping with a friend, happened to catch sight of him through the glass. She was genuinely surprised.

"Looks like Finnegan is buying something. He came in person. I wonder who it's for?" she said.

Her said, "Why don't we just go and see? Niamh, tomorrow's your birthday, maybe Finnegan bought it for you."

When Niamh heard this, her vanity was greatly satisfied.

At that moment, Finnegan, carrying the necklace he had just bought, stepped out of the jewelry store. Niamh dragged her friend and they both entered the store.

Niamh walked straight up to the saleswoman they had seen earlier and asked, "What did that guy buy just now? What was it for?"
After boss's baby, she Escape
