Chapter 552 Silver Bracelet
Susan fell into her memories, her eyes revealing a sense of melancholy.
Ophelia asked, "Grandma Susan, does Lloyd know? Did you explain it to him?"
'If he hasn't figured out who reported it, why did Lloyd come back?Could it be that after thirty years, the resentment in his heart has disappeared? Has he forgiven Susan?' Ophelia thought.
Susan said, "I explained to Lloyd back then that I didn't report his father. He left in anger, and I thought he would calm down after a while. Who knew that he'd be gone for thirty years."
Ophelia was curious. "Did Lloyd bring it up this time?"
"No," Susan said. "It's been so many years, let bygones be bygones."
Susan didn't want to stir up any more bad feelings.
Although not her biological child, she had raised him for nearly twenty years. He was like her son.
Ophelia didn't ask further. "Grandma, you rest. I'm going to the hospital. Don't worry too much about Finnegan. Take care of yourself."
Susan looked at her with loving eyes. "Alright, Ophelia, thank you."
After checking on Susan, Ophelia found Celia and reminded her to take good care of Warmie before heading to the hospital.
As Ophelia was turning at the traffic light at the entrance of the villa community, she happened to see Anthony driving by.
Ophelia glanced at him unintentionally and instinctively turned to follow.
Anthony, being very alert, quickly noticed Ophelia. He deliberately slowed down and, when parallel to her, rolled down his window. "Mrs. Abbott, where are you headed? Same direction as me?"
Ophelia calmly said, "To the hospital, same direction."
With that, Ophelia stepped on the gas and drove off.
Despite her calm exterior, Ophelia was actually very nervous, her heart racing.
After driving a certain distance, Ophelia checked the rearview mirror and saw that Anthony hadn't followed.
Her emotions gradually calmed down as she returned to the hospital and opened the door to find Atticus there.
Atticus had wheeled himself over to see Finnegan and felt very guilty about what happened that night.
"Mr. Abbott, if I had driven that night, you wouldn't be hurt like this, and your eyes..."
Atticus didn't finish his sentence, his tone filled with guilt. He even wished he were the one who was blind.
Finnegan said, "It's all the same. They were targeting me. Taking care of yourself and get back to work. Don't worry about other things."
"Atticus, go back to your room and rest," Ophelia walked over and said. "This has nothing to do with you. Recover well and help out at the company. Linda can't handle everything alone."
Both Finnegan and Ophelia didn't want Atticus to feel too guilty, so they used this way to make him realize his importance and be more motivated.
Atticus promised, "Alright, Mr. Abbott, Mrs. Abbott, I will recover as soon as possible and return to the company."
Only at the company could he prove his worth. Saying these guilty words was useless.
Atticus didn't want to disturb them further and sensibly wheeled himself out.
Ophelia then sat beside Finnegan and said, "Honey, Lloyd came back today."
"Which Lloyd?" Finnegan didn't react immediately.
"The one who ran away from home thirty years ago..." Ophelia recounted what had happened at home and the encounter with Anthony on the road.
"Lloyd." Finnegan frowned. He had no impression of this Lloyd.
When Lloyd left home, Finnegan hadn't even been born yet.
Lloyd was the ninth in the Abbott family.
Finnegan didn't think much of it. Connecting the two just based on the number "nine" seemed too far-fetched.
Ophelia said, "This Anthony that Lloyd brought back is quite strange. I ran into him on the road just now. I don't know what he was doing out so late, but he gave off a very uncomfortable vibe."
Finnegan asked, "What does he look like?"
Ophelia recalled and described, "he is about 5.9 feet high, in his early twenties, with a buzz cut, slightly dark skin, probably from regular exercise, a strong build, wearing a neck gaiter, and a silver bracelet on his wrist. He doesn't look like easy to get along with. He's Lloyd's apprentice."
