Chapter 415 Stop Niamh
Dovie woke up and slowly opened her eyes, gradually focusing and recognizing the person in front of her. She moved her lips but couldn't speak yet as she was still adjusting to her new surroundings.
"Mom." Ophelia exclaimed with joy, "You're awake."
Hearing the word 'Mom', Dovie's eyes widened with confusion and surprise. Why was Ophelia calling her 'Mom'?
'Am I hallucinating?' She thought.
"Mom, I'm Ophelia, your daughter." Ophelia choked up, pulling out a paternity test. "Look, this is the paternity test result for you and me. I'm your daughter."
"Daughter." Dovie slowly managed to utter weakly and with difficulty, "You're my daughter?"
Seeing the paternity test, a tear slid down Dovie's cheek. She was overwhelmed with excitement, joy, and astonishment that her daughter was Ophelia. Suddenly, Dovie understood why she always felt a sense of closeness to Ophelia, wanting to be near and care for her. If anything happened to Ophelia, she would be worried.
This was the invisible connection between mother and daughter.
Dovie cried tears of joy, holding Ophelia's hand. "I can still see my daughter alive, Ophelia, my daughter."
Dovie raised her hand, wanting to touch Ophelia's face.
"Mom." Ophelia leaned in, not wanting Dovie to exert herself too much.
Dovie touched Ophelia's face, tears streaming down her own. "I can face your father in heaven now. He'll be so proud to know that his daughter is so outstanding."
Ophelia was filled with complicated emotions, knowing she would never see her father again. Her father had an accident while searching for her.
"Mom, you must get better." Ophelia placed Dovie's hand on her belly. "You have a granddaughter. When the baby is born, don't you want to hear her call you grandma? Please don't leave me. We just reunited. I want to be filial to you. I want to feel a mother's love."
"Okay." Dovie agreed with loving eyes, but she knew she didn't have much time left. These words were to comfort Ophelia. Seeing her daughter before she died, she had no regrets.
Dovie didn't see anyone else around and asked, "Where are Niamh and Natalie?"
Dovie's spirit suddenly improved a lot, and her complexion became rosy. This was her final clarity.
"Niamh is at the company. She will take over as chairman today." Ophelia said. "Natalie hasn't arrived yet. Mom, do you want to see them?"
Hearing that Niamh was taking over the company, Dovie became anxious. "Ophelia, go to the company and stop Niamh. She can't take over as chairman. The Parks Family can't fall into her hands."
If her daughter were just an ordinary person, Dovie wouldn't be able to protect her in her current state. She wouldn't let her daughter take back what belonged to her. But now, Ophelia was Finnegan's wife, with the Abbott Family backing her. Dovie wanted to leave everything of the Parks Family to Ophelia, so she asked Ophelia to stop Niamh.
Which mother wouldn't want the best for her daughter?
"Niamh has your shares."
"When did I give her my shares?" Dovie said. "Ophelia, I never transferred my shares to Niamh. Find my lawyer, Garrett Wells, and get something from the safe at Universal Prosperity Bank. The password is your father's death anniversary, October 10th. Take it and go straight to the company. The contents of the safe can stop Niamh. Go quickly!"
Dovie would never leave her assets to Niamh, but there were many things she didn't have the time to explain to Ophelia now. Once Niamh took over as chairman, it would be too late.
"Okay, Mom, don't get too emotional. I'll go now." Ophelia glanced at the time. There were only twenty minutes left until ten o'clock, and she didn't have enough time to retrieve what Dovie asked her to from the Universal Prosperity Bank.
Nonetheless, to reassure Dovie, Ophelia decided to stop Niamh first. She hurried out of the hospital, calling Tate to get the safe's contents while she and Linda headed to Parks Corporation.
Ophelia asked, "Linda, can we get to Parks Corporation before ten?"
"I'm afraid not," Linda said anxiously.
"Then we need to delay Niamh a bit." Ophelia thought of Finnegan and quickly called him, asking him to find a way.
Just as Ophelia left, Natalie arrived at the hospital and pushed open the ward door to see the awakened Dovie.
