Chapter 546 Taking a Liking to Warmie
Lloyd had just arrived on the first day, so he couldn't have a conflict with Jude.
Lloyd remained silent, so Anthony had to suppress his anger.
"Brother Jude, this is my apprentice, Anthony," Lloyd said with a smile. "Anthony is shy and doesn't like to talk."
"So introverted, huh? Then he definitely doesn't have a girlfriend. Boys can't be too shy as girls don't like that." Jude started lecturing Lloyd and then began to educate Anthony.
Anthony was angry but didn't dare to speak.
Lloyd also felt a bit awkward and changed the subject. "Brother Jude, where's Mom?"
"Mom is resting upstairs," Jude said. "Lloyd, a lot has happened at home recently. Mom's been worried and hasn't been sleeping well. She's getting older and can't handle it. She just went to rest. She'll be very happy you're back. It's a rare happy event for the family."
Lloyd was well aware of what had happened to the Abbott family.
At this moment, Celia came downstairs holding Warmie. Seeing two strangers in the house, she asked, "Who are these two?"
"Honey, you don't recognize them either. I didn't recognize them at first," Jude said excitedly. "This is Lloyd, the Lloyd who ran away from home thirty years ago. He's back."
Ran away from home...
What a fitting description.
Lloyd remained silent.
Celia was shocked and said, "Lloyd? Didn't you say he was dead? Could he be a fraud? It's been thirty years, and he doesn't look the same. Maybe we should do a DNA test. What if he's really a fraud?"
Anthony could barely hold back his anger.
The founder of Moonlight Gate, Lloyd's authority, was something everyone at Moonlight Gate feared and respected, yet Celia called him a fraud.
Jude whispered, "Honey, we can't do a DNA test. Lloyd isn't Mom's biological son, remember? I don't think he's a fraud. He looks like Lloyd. I'll let Mom recognize him."
Though he whispered, it was just loud enough for Lloyd to hear.
That phrase "not biological" was like a needle piercing Lloyd's heart.
One of the reasons he left the Abbott family back then was because he found out he wasn't Susan's biological son.
"Lloyd, sit for a while. I'll go upstairs and get Mom," Jude said, asking Celia to entertain them before heading upstairs.
Celia, holding Warmie, said to Lloyd, "Sit."
Lloyd's gaze fell on Warmie. Warmie was adorable, like a little doll.
Warmie wasn't afraid of Lloyd and even reached out a small hand, smiling at him.
Warmie's smile was truly irresistible and very healing.
"Celia, may I hold this little baby?" Lloyd asked with a smile.
Celia didn't dare let him hold Warmie and said, "Warmie doesn't like strangers holding her. I'll hold her."
'What if he really was a fraud?' she thought.
Celia remained cautious.
Lloyd didn't insist. Anthony stood to the side, shocked to hear Lloyd asking to hold a baby.
In Anthony's impression, Lloyd was not a kind person. 'How could he be so affectionate toward a baby?' he thought.
Warmie seemed to really like Lloyd, constantly smiling at him, even giggling and making shy expressions.
This made Celia a bit jealous. Her little granddaughter was smiling so sweetly at a stranger.
"Warmie, I'll take you to the yard to play," Celia said, carrying Warmie away, not wanting Warmie to see Lloyd.
Lloyd smiled at Warmie, watching her leave, and waved a Rubik's cube in his hand to amuse her.
Warmie giggled.
Celia adjusted her hold on Warmie to prevent her from looking at Lloyd.
At this moment, Jude came downstairs. "Lloyd, Mom wants you to go upstairs. She's waiting for you in her room, second room on the left on the second floor."
"Okay, Brother Jude," Lloyd said, heading upstairs.
The house was completely different from when he had left.
Lloyd pushed open Susan's bedroom door. The room was quiet. Susan was leaning against the headboard. Hearing the noise, she looked toward the door.
Seeing Lloyd for the first time, Susan's eyes welled up with tears. She was a bit emotional and sat up slightly, but after a moment, she calmed down and showed no expression.
"Lloyd, you're back."
"Mom, I'm back," Lloyd said, walking in.
