Chapter 694 The Shrewd Susan

Lily felt a weird sense of familiarity about this place, like a memory she couldn't quite pin down.

After a bit, Susan hobbled upstairs with her cane and knocked on the door. "Ophelia, it's me."

Lily took a deep breath. "Come in."

Susan opened the door, her eyes soft with affection. "Ophelia, are you settling in okay? Finnegan told us everything. Take your time, being alive is what matters most."

Lily moved to help Susan sit. "Grandma." She blurted out.

Susan beamed, clearly touched. Hearing "Grandma" again from Ophelia was joy.

"Finnegan called Wilder. He'll be here soon," Susan said, reaching for Lily's hand. "Come, sit with me."

Lily sat, and Susan held her hand, just like she used to with Ophelia, showing her love.

But when Susan touched Lily's hand, her smile faltered. She felt Lily's hand again, surprise flickering in her eyes.

Seeing Susan's reaction, Lily smiled and asked, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing," Susan said, regaining her composure. "I'm just happy. So, where have you been living these past months?"

Lily replied, "I've been in Oceanview City with my dad and younger brother."

Susan's eyes narrowed. "Are you really Ophelia?"

To Susan, this girl only looked like Ophelia.

Lily explained, "I had an accident. When I woke up, I couldn't remember much. Recently, some memories came back, and a voice led me to Yorkhaven, but I don't remember any of you."

Susan smiled, gently putting down her hand. "It's good you're back. That's all that matters. After your accident, Finnegan went to the monastery. This house has been so empty. Now that you're back, it's like life has returned."

Lily asked, "What if I never remember?"

Susan smiled. "It doesn't matter."

Her words carried a deeper meaning.

"Ophelia, Warmie's awake," Finnegan said, coming in with Warmie, his face lit up with joy, as if Ophelia's return had revived him.

He set Warmie down, and the child stared at Lily, not recognizing her mother.

Lily smiled and reached out. "You're Warmie, right? So cute, come here."

Everyone understood that without her memories, Lily couldn't step into the role of a mother right away.

Finnegan said to Warmie, "Warmie, this is Mommy. Call her Mommy."

Warmie looked confused, unsure whether to call her Ma'am or Mommy.

Susan said, "Warmie, call her Lily for now. Ophelia needs time to adjust."

Finnegan insisted, "Warmie is our daughter, Ophelia. The bond between mother and daughter is natural."

Warmie walked towards Lily but didn't call her Mommy. Instead, she said, "Pretty."

She was complimenting Lily.

"Warmie, you're pretty too, you're adorable," Lily said, picking her up, feeling a natural affection for her.

Seeing Lily with Warmie, Finnegan smiled, as if seeing the old Ophelia again.

Susan watched them for a moment, then quietly left with her cane.

In the hallway, Susan met Lynn and Addison, who had rushed over after hearing Ophelia was back.

Both were very concerned.

Lynn asked, "Is Ophelia really back?"

Thinking of the moment she felt Lily's hand, Susan hesitated, then smiled and nodded. "Yes. They're in the room with Warmie. Let's wait for them to come down. You can rest in the living room."

With that, Lynn and Addison decided not to disturb them.

After boss's baby, she Escape
