Chapter 232 Exes and Currents
Caspian intentionally changed the topic, afraid that Lynn would bring up something else. He was worried that Ophe and Finnegan would have an argument.
Lynn had been dining here for several days, enjoying Japanese cuisine. Caspian believed that Lynn did not recognize Ophe. However, Ophe was sure that Lynn knew who she was, so she intentionally brought up these topics.
Ophe saw herself as an outsider and was curious about what Lynn wanted to say.
Lynn envied them. Ophe understood her sense. After all, an outstanding person like Finnegan had married someone else. Lynn must have felt somewhat resentful.
Lynn took a sip of her coffee and laughed bitterly. "If I had known that I would lose the most important person in my life because of my leaving, I wouldn't have cared about becoming a chief. If it weren't for Finnegan's mother not approving of me, we wouldn't have any regrets. I wouldn't have gone abroad. Perhaps the person who married him would have been me."
Lynn took advantage of the opportunity to express her feelings toward Finnegan. She was deliberate to say these.
Caspian felt very nervous when he heard such straightforward words. 'How can she say something like this? Won't it cause strain between the couple?' He speculated.
Caspian glanced at Ophe's reaction, then coughed forcefully, implying that Lynn should stop speaking recklessly. If she continued, there could be serious consequences.
"Lynn, there's no meaning in saying these things," Caspian quickly interjected. "Have you had too much to drink? Let me take you home."
"I haven't had any alcohol. I'm completely sober," Lynn replied and glanced at Ophe.
She had said so much, yet Ophe remained indifferent. Lynn couldn't figure out Ophe's intentions.
Ophe was too composed. Even if she was slow to understand, she should have realized Lynn and Finnegan's previous relationship. How could she not react at all?
Ophe remained calm, but Lynn couldn't. She directly asked Ophe, "If your husband doesn't love you but loves someone else, will you still love him?"
When Caspian heard that, his tone became more serious. "Lynn, what are you talking about? I'll take you back."
Caspian turned to Ophe and said, "Ophe, Lynn just came back and hasn't adjusted to the time difference yet. Her mind is a bit unclear. Please don't mind. I'll take her back first."
Caspian tried to pull Lynn away, but she shook him off and stared at Ophe. She was determined to get an answer.
Ophe put down her glass of water and calmly met Lynn's gaze. She said firmly, "No. If my husband still loves someone else, I don't love a man like that."
Ophe looked at Caspian and said, "Miss Lynn has been eating sushi at my place for a few days now. She's been back for quite a while, so she should have adjusted to the time difference. Miss Lynn is very clear-minded."
Caspian thought to himself, 'It's over.'
Lynn decided to come clean. "Ophe, Finnegan loves me. I hope you can let him go. It's not a happy marriage if you're married to him who doesn't love you."
Ophe smiled faintly. "I don't think so. I know better than anyone whether my husband loves me or not. We are very happy. I feel sorry for you and Finnegan's past, but that's all in the past. Miss Lynn, as a public figure, you should be mindful of your words and actions. You've worked hard for so many years. It would be a pity if it all goes to waste."
Ophe remained composed. She had complete faith in Finnegan, and the past didn't matter to her. What he had done for her was enough to give her confidence in dealing with Lynn.
Lynn was furious. "So, you won't let him go? How long have you known him? Do you really understand him? Do you know why you live in Orchid Garden? Because of me. Don't tell me you don't mind all this."
Seeing that the two were about to come to blows, Caspian quickly sent a message to Finnegan for help: [Finnegan, come to the Sakura Restaurant quickly. Ophe and Lynn are arguing.]
