Chapter 349 The Deception

Seraphina confessed and then worried about Niamh's retaliation. She asked, "Landon, you must ensure my safety and not let Niamh harm me."
Landon said, "Don't worry, it's very safe here. Just wait for the trial."
Now that the case had changed, it needed to be refiled, and Niamh had to be brought back for interrogation.
Seraphina was scared. "It's not safe here. That prison guard just tried to kill me."
Landon just chuckled, said nothing, and left with his notebook.
The prison guard who had been knocked out earlier came over. "Landon, you hit too hard just now. I feel a bit concussed. I need to apply for leave and get checked out tomorrow."
Landon patted the guard's head. "Let me check it for you."
The guard dodged with a smile. "No need, Landon, I'm just kidding. Did Seraphina confess?"
"She did," Landon said. "Your acting was great."
The guard laughed. "Thanks for the compliment, Landon."
"I'll go report to Mr. Abbott and Mrs. Abbott. You can clock out now."
In fact, it was all an act to make Seraphina tell the truth. Only if Seraphina distrusted Niamh and thought Niamh wanted to harm her would she speak the truth.
For this act, they had to work overtime and even sacrificed a little mouse.
And this idea came from Ophelia.
Landon returned to the office and called Ophelia. "Mrs. Abbott, Seraphina confessed. Your plan worked. Niamh was involved, and the drugs were given to Seraphina by Niamh."
This confession was within Ophelia and Finnegan's expectations.
When they saw Sybil's compiled evidence, they suspected Niamh. Now, they just needed a confession.
However, Seraphina's confession wasn't entirely valid. As a suspect, her words could only be used as a reference, with questionable authenticity and potential slander.
So if Niamh didn't admit it or they couldn't find more compelling evidence, there would be insufficient evidence to accuse Niamh in court.
After the call, Ophelia looked at Finnegan and asked, "Have you thought about how to execute the next step of the plan?"
Finnegan said solemnly, "Sybil's case left no traces as Niamh has an alibi. Now, with Seraphina's accusation, let's first let Niamh get flustered and watch the show."
The two cases couldn't be merged. For now, there seemed to be no connection, so they could only rely on Seraphina's accusation to make Niamh panic, which might reveal more flaws.
Niamh was anxious. Her eyelids keeping twitching, feeling that something bad was going to happen.
She paced back and forth in the room. Suddenly, the weather outside changed dramatically, with rain, thunder, and lightning.
The weather changed with no signs.
"Niamh." Natalie came in with a bowl of pasta with truffles. "Have some pasta with truffles. It's good for your skin."
As she spoke, a flash of lightning struck outside, making Niamh's heart skip a beat.
"Natalie," Niamh said nervously. "Seraphina was caught. I'm scared."
Niamh was really panicking. Since visiting Grandma Abbott in the hospital during the day, she had been uneasy.
"Seraphina? Who's that?"
Niamh said, "The one who drugged Grandma Abbott."
Natalie realized something was wrong, quickly closed the door, and lowered her voice. "What's going on? Tell me the truth."
Natalie remembered Niamh confidently saying someone would deal with Ophelia and couldn't help but worry.
Niamh hesitated, still not daring to tell the truth, and half-truthfully said, "I know Seraphina. She asked me for abortion pills before. I didn't know she would use them to harm Ophelia, but she ended up harming Grandma Abbott. The police are still investigating. Natalie, could you help me? You brought me back. I can't go to jail. If the Abbott family finds out, it's over. Natalie, could you help me? I'll listen to you from now on."
Hearing this, Natalie's face changed dramatically. "Tell me honestly. Were you two conspiring?"
Niamh wanted to argue, but Natalie said, "Tell me the truth."
"Seraphina suggested it. I just provided the drugs."
"You fool. I warned you not to get involved in these things yourself. Why didn't you listen?" Natalie was furious. "Anyone can buy abortion pills. If Seraphina wanted to harm someone, she could get them herself. Why ask you? She wanted to drag you into the crime. She might have left evidence proving you provided the drugs. As long as she tells the police, you can't escape responsibility."
After boss's baby, she Escape
