Chapter 669 We Must Find Her
Karen barely remembered her sister.
She knew her family was searching for her, but her memories were fuzzy.
When Tate went missing, Karen was just over two years old and didn't remember a thing.
"Your sister, Sandra, has been found," Barbara said with a smile. "Karen, Sandra's been through a lot. We're giving her the room on the third floor. If you don't like the second floor, I'll buy you a new place. Just pick any house you like."
"Really? Where?" Karen didn't feel any joy. Instead, she felt a bit resentful. If Sandra came back, she wouldn't be the only daughter anymore.
Barbara had always been thinking about Sandra. So Karen thought that if Sandra came back, her parents might not like her as much.
"Sandra can't come back just yet," Barbara said. "But she'll be back soon. You two should get along well."
"Mom, why should I give up my room just because Sandra's back? I've been living there for so long. She can stay on the second floor." Karen had always had the best of everything since Raymond wouldn't compete with her. Now suddenly she had to share with her sister, which made her feel unbalanced.
Barbara's expression turned stern. "Karen, how can you be so selfish? That room was originally Sandra's. If you don't like it, you can go look for a house outside, and I'll buy it for you."
Karen was even less inclined to agree. To her, it seemed like her parents were trying to push her out.
Karen threw up her hands. "Fine, let Sandra have it. I'll take the second floor. If you feel bad for her, give her all the good stuff. Whatever, I don't care."
Barbara's face tightened at Karen's sarcasm.
Karen pressed on, "Mom, have you even seen Sandra? Who found her? Where is she? What does she look like? Could this be a scam?"
Barbara, clearly done with the conversation, just said, "You'll see when she gets here," and retreated to her room.
Karen fumed. It felt like Barbara cared more about Sandra, who'd been missing for over a decade.
Meanwhile, at the hospital, Finnegan was still in a coma. Celia was by his side every day, and Caspian visited daily.
No change in Finnegan's condition.
The typhoon incident was old news now. Wilder, who was in country F, was the last to hear about Ophelia's accident.
Wilder rushed to Yorkhaven overnight, with Katherine by his side.
First stop, he found Raymond, the guy handling the case. When he heard that Ophelia's body hadn't been found and it had been almost half a month, he was crushed.
The thought of Ophelia's body likely being fish food hit Wilder hard.
He had planned to come to Yorkhaven for Ophelia's wedding after dealing with royal duties, then throw a royal wedding for the couple back in country F.
He owed Dovie back then and hoped to make it up to Ophelia.
But now, no chance.
Wilder staggered, taking a few steps back. Katherine caught him and said, "Wilder."
She got it. Losing Dovie was already a regret, and now with Ophelia missing, it was too much.
Wilder pushed Katherine away, steadied himself, and swallowed his grief. "Search again. Expand the area. I need to find my daughter, dead or alive."
Raymond couldn't say much. Even though the accident happened in international waters, it was within Yorkhaven's jurisdiction. As a royal from country F, Wilder had every right to demand answers.
Raymond promised, "We'll do our best."
Half a month after the typhoon, the police launched another big search. Wilder brought in the royal team from country F, scouring hundreds of miles of international waters.
A week of searching, still nothing.
Then, after nearly a month in a coma, Finnegan woke up that night.
The wind howled, rain poured.
A cold gust blew in, lightning struck, followed by thunder. Finnegan's eyes snapped open. "Ophelia."
