Chapter 656 Susan Takes Action

Finnegan walked straight out, opened the car door, and was ready to leave. This time, Lloyd completely hit his weak spot.

"Finnegan, where are you going?" Raymond realized something was wrong and quickly stopped him.

As a police officer, Raymond naturally had to prevent Finnegan from using violence to counter violence.

Finnegan's voice was icy. "Get out of the way."

The capture of Ophelia and the others had made Finnegan completely lose his mind. He no longer cared about Raymond's identity or his own hidden plans.

Anger and guilt burned like a raging fire in his chest.

"Finnegan."

Before Raymond could finish his sentence, Finnegan got into the car, started it, and drove away.

Observing the vehicle vanish into the horizon, Raymond promptly placed a call to update the team, urgently requesting additional personnel for deployment. Their mission: to swiftly rescue Ophelia and the rest before the Moonlight Gate operatives departed Yorkhaven.Tonight was destined to be a sleepless night.

Beneath the calm night, a storm was brewing.

The Moonlight Gate people came and went without a trace, destroying all road surveillance along the way. To confuse the police, they deliberately damaged many other surveillance lines.

Without surveillance, finding Susan and the others taken by the Moonlight Gate was like searching for a needle in a haystack.

The next day.

Finnegan, who hadn't slept all night, had bloodshot eyes. With Ophelia and others captured, he had no mind to deal with the guests coming to pay their respects.

Jude, not seeing Finnegan, called him to ask what was going on.

On the phone, Finnegan said, "Grandma Susan was taken by Lloyd, and Ophelia and Warmie were also captured."

This left Jude even more confused. "Finnegan, are you overwhelmed by grief? Your grandma has already passed away."

"That was all a trap to lure Lloyd out. There's no time to explain now." Finnegan was already driving to a dock hundreds of miles away.

Finnegan had followed the clues all the way here.

While the Moonlight Gate had their ways to mislead, Finnegan had his methods to track them.

Based on the Moonlight Gate's activities over the years and Lloyd's personality, Finnegan had deduced Lloyd's route.

Lloyd was most likely taking them out to sea. Once they reached international waters, it would be nearly impossible to bring them back.

On the vast sea, a large ship was anchored.

Inside the ship, Susan and Ophelia were locked in a room, while Warmie had been taken by Lloyd.

Lloyd hadn't seen Warmie in a long time and missed her dearly, kissing her cheeks a few times.

This time, Warmie was very averse. Whenever Lloyd got close, Warmie would cry and mumble, "Mom, mom."

Warmie's preference for Ophelia over Lloyd left him feeling despondent. The once familiar bond between them seemed to have faded, causing Lloyd deep sorrow.

Despite his frustration at Warmie's rejection and the ensuing tears, Lloyd, unwilling to cause harm, instructed his men to reunite Warmie with Ophelia and to escort Susan to his side.

The ship had two levels, with Ophelia and the others held in a room on the lower level, while Lloyd stayed on the upper level.

Soon, Susan was brought over. Even with her life in Lloyd's hands, she still showed no fear.

"Susan." Lloyd dropped the pretense, not even calling her "Mom" this time.

Before he could finish speaking, Susan stepped forward and slapped him hard.

Susan put all her strength into that slap.

"You bastard," Susan cursed. "I regret raising you. If your biological mother knew what you've become, I'd be too ashamed to face her in the afterlife."

In the past, Susan would have tried to reason with him, putting on a facade.

But now, there was no point in talking nicely to Lloyd.

As Lloyd's mother, who had raised him for twenty years, she had the right to hit him.

Though Lloyd was over fifty, in front of Susan, he was like a child being scolded.

In Lloyd's memory, he had been spanked by Susan like this as a child.

Lloyd's expression changed immediately, filled with anger. "Susan, you have no right."

Upon hearing Lloyd address her by name, Susan's hand swiftly met his cheek in another resounding slap. "I do possess that right, indeed. Even if your parents were present, I would have the authority to reprimand you, and your biological mother wouldn't dare intervene," she declared firmly.
