Chapter 292 Not on the Same Channel
Magnus's words had a somewhat interrogative tone, carrying a hint of aggression.
Ophelia glanced at Magnus in surprise but didn't think much of it, simply believing that Magnus was acting in her best interest.
Natalie was asked and momentarily didn't know how to respond.
Magnus's gaze was fixed firmly on Natalie as he continued to ask, "If your biological daughter were right in front of you, could you heartlessly ignore her?"
Natalie felt uneasy under the gaze and instinctively thought of Niamh.
The biological daughter was right before her eyes, yet she had to be ruthless in allowing Niamh to address her as aunt.
Natalie thought of Niamh, while Magnus was referring to Ophelia as he spoke.
Even though they were not on the same page mentally, Natalie's reaction and expression still aligned perfectly.
When Magnus saw Natalie looking pensive and guilty, he became even more convinced of his guess - Natalie was Ophelia's biological mother.
Ophelia sensed a different atmosphere as Magnus met Natalie for the first time. Why were his emotions so intense?
Was he stimulated by something?
Did Magnus change his temperament now because of Tobias? Is he no longer fond of being submissive and yielding to others?
Natalie felt uncomfortable under the scrutiny and said, "What daughter? I'm not married; I don't have a daughter. Ophelia, what's up with your friend? I didn't offend him but his words are impolite."
Not married?
No daughter?
Magnus found it hard to believe.
Ophelia said, "Natalie, I'm really sorry. My friend has been under a lot of stress lately. He's a young man with a hot temper. Please don't be angry."
Ophelia apologized with her words, but her expression told a different story.
Natalie felt really uncomfortable inside, but she can't say much about that.
However, Magnus continued to ask, "Natalie, you're not married?"
'Ophelia is Natalie's illegitimate daughter? So she doesn't dare to acknowledge her?' He thought.
It must be admitted that Magnus had a very vivid imagination.
Natalie was asked awkwardly. Ophelia gave Magnus a wink, whispering, "Magnus, what's up with you? Why are you so nosy today?"
'This really doesn't seem like the old Magnus.' Ophelia pondered.
Magnus calmly said, "Just out of curiosity, is Natalie old and still unmarried, or is she a proponent of singlehood?"
It's really impolite for a younger generation to ask an older generation like this.
Natalie said calmly, "I prefer singlehood; I have never been married."
Magnus finally understood that Natalie was afraid of admitting that Ophelia was her daughter.
Next, Magnus stopped talking and focused on eating.
Ophelia found him odd, sometimes talkative, and other times silent.
As Natalie confirmed that Ophelia had no intention of searching for her biological parents, she casually took a few bites, and then made an excuse to leave.
After Natalie left, Magnus also said, "Ophelia, I have some matters to attend to at the office, so I'll be leaving now."
Magnus rushed away before Ophelia could say a word.
Magnus hurried to catch up with Natalie. "Natalie, I was a bit abrupt just now; I'm really sorry."
Natalie opened the car door and saw Magnus with angry. She said, "Young people these days have such bad tempers."
"Natalie, I just have a question for you," Magnus said. "As you don't acknowledge your biological daughter, I'm wondering if there is a reason for that? Why did you abandon your daughter back then?"
The words made Natalie's face turn pale. She thought Magnus had knew that Niamh was her biological daughter.
"Magnus, what are you spreading rumors about?" Natalie dared not admit.
"I have never been married, so where did my daughter come from?"
Magnus didn't believe it as Natalie had already gone to the orphanage to find someone.
Natalie didn't dare admit. It seemed that she had something to hide. Magnus then asked in a different way. "Sorry, Natalie. Forgive my abruptness, but let me change my perspective. If you had a daughter, and she was right in front of you, would you still not admit it?"
"You are insane," Natalie felt guilty and tried to cover it up with anger. She cursed Magnus before getting into the car, starting it, and driving away.
Natalie never quite understood how Magnus found out about her having a daughter.
She had never met Magnus before, while Magnus was too excited just now.
Watching Natalie leave, Magnus sighed in place. Just as he was about to walk away, a voice behind him asked, "Does Natalie really have a daughter?"
