Chapter 255 Let Bygones Be Bygones
When Magnus saw the trending topic, he was infuriated to the point of almost passing out.
Sitting alone in his car, he stared at the video interview on his phone. He watched Tobias's face and the insults in the comments section, and he thought about the sacrifices he had made for his family all these days. He broke down and cried uncontrollably in his car.
His personal information was leaked, and he received constant calls from internet users. At first, he answered a few of them, only to be greeted with insults before hanging up and eventually turning off his phone. Magnus didn't dare go home, and he didn't dare turn on his phone. He simply drove, leaving the downtown area behind.
In the Japanese restaurant, Ophe had been live-streaming with Old Abbott for quite some time.
She descended the staircase to the lobby to take a stroll and check the current occupancy rate.
The business was still doing well today. As Ophe passed by a table of customers, she overheard them talking about Magnus.
"Magnus is really despicable, and he is so disgusting."
"Yeah, he even laid his hands on his niece."
"Look at him, dressed in a suit. He looks refined, but who would've thought he was so perverted?"
"Looks can be deceiving. He's a lawyer, breaking the law while knowing it."
"A man like him must be exposed to prevent any more victims."
Ophe was puzzled as she listened, and she inquired with a smile, "I'm sorry, but what are you all talking about? I overheard something about Magnus. What happened to Magnus?"
Initially, Ophe thought it was just a coincidence of the same name, but out of curiosity, she still asked.
The female customer angrily replied, "We're talking about a lowlife. You see, he molested his niece. It's disgusting. The entire internet is criticizing him now."
"Yeah, take a look. If we ever come across someone like him, we should stay away."
Ophe was taken aback by what she heard, but she maintained her smile and asked, "I'm sorry for asking, but can you tell me more about it? I'm curious about this Magnus you're talking about."
Ophe couldn't believe what she saw on the female guest's phone, and the video of Tobias causing a commotion at the office left her dumbfounded.
"How can this happen? He can't do this." Ophe insisted.
The female guest replied, "Don't be fooled by a man's appearance. His father came forward with accusations. Could this be false? And what about the recording by his niece?"
Another guest chimed in, "It's really unfortunate. For a young girl, this will be a lifelong trauma."
The female journalist knew how to attract attention, and the television station increased efforts to promote these videos. The entire internet was buzzing, and Magnus became a public enemy.
Ophe had just seen Magnus that morning, and they had only been apart for a few hours, never imagining something like this would happen.
Ophe quickly called Magnus, but his phone was turned off. She called the office, only to be informed that Magnus wasn't there.
Ophe couldn't contact Magnus and grew worried.
Seraphina also saw the trending topic and became concerned about Magnus. With his phone turned off, she had no choice but to go to the Japanese restaurant to find Ophe.
"Ophe, can you contact Magnus? Where is he? I saw the trending topic and found out something happened to him." Seraphina still had some compassion for Magnus. "I told him several times that his parents are not good people. He should have separated from them earlier and not gotten involved. Now, he's being falsely accused."
Seraphina also didn't believe Magnus would do such a thing. Despite her differences with Ophe, she still felt grateful to Magnus.
They grew up together, and she even had a secret crush on him. She was also anxious about Magnus's situation.
"I also can't reach him," Ophe said anxiously. "I plan to go to his house to find him."
Seraphina said, "Then I'll go with you."
At this moment, they put aside their grievances and went together to Magnus's residence.
Ophe had bought the house, so she knew where it was.
Ophe drove with Seraphina in the passenger seat. Seeing such a luxurious car, Seraphina couldn't help but feel jealous.
Ophe used to drive a Mercedes, but today, she was driving a Porsche. Finnegan had many cars, all parked in the garage. Ophe just had to choose one.
Seraphina touched the leather seat beneath her and said, "This car is so comfortable. Luxury cars are truly different."
