Chapter 572 Sway With the Wind
Jude was so anxious that he started cursing. "Are you kidding? I'm married. I don't even like you. What responsibility do I hold?" Jude's mind was in a mess, but one thing was clear that he didn't want a divorce.
"You slept with me, so you have to take responsibility," Paula said, grabbing Jude's shirt. "Otherwise, I'll accuse you of rape. You even set me up with Lloyd. I think you planned this all along. You and Llyod conspired to deceive me."
In Paula's view, it was Lloyd and Jude who tricked her. They called her over and she inexplicably passed out, waking up in Jude's bed. Though she was no longer young, she couldn't just let a man nearly twenty years older than her sleep with her and get away with it.
Jude was at a loss for words.
He held his head in his hands and said nothing.
Celia went back to her parents' house, and Paula came to confront Jude.
The matter couldn't be hidden anymore. Finnegan and Ophelia, who were in the hospital, also heard of that.
When Finnegan learned that Jude had cheated, he just frowned and said to Ophelia, "Ophelia, you go ask Jude about the situation first, then go find Paula. Ask them separately and listen to what they say. After that, go ask Celia about it."
"Honey, do you think there's something fishy about this?" Ophelia said. "I don't believe Jude would cheat."
Finnegan said, "You need to ask first before drawing any conclusions."
"Alright, I'll go," Ophelia replied.
Ophelia first went to Jude. After learning the situation from him, she went to Paula and then to Celia.
After piecing everything together, Ophelia also felt something was off.
Paula mentioned that Lloyd had asked her out, and Jude mentioned it too.
As for Celia catching them in the act, she had received an anonymous tip.
So there was something wrong.
Ophelia relayed everything she had learned to Finnegan.
"Finnegan, Jude said he doesn't remember going back to the room with Paula. He saw someone trying to assault Paula in the parking lot and stepped in, then he passed out. Paula also said she passed out after drinking a sip of water in the room." Ophelia said, "Someone is setting them up. Both of them mentioned Lloyd."
Ophelia stopped short of stating her suspicion.
"So what's Celia's attitude now?" Finnegan asked calmly.
"She is demanding a divorce, but Jude refuses. Paula is forcing Jude to take responsibility and divorce Celia. The whole family is in chaos, and Susan is so upset that she's having headaches."
Ophelia said, "Lloyd is acting as a mediator, staying with Susan and comforting her. Do you think Lloyd did it? But why? And the surveillance footage really shows Jude and Paula going back to the room. It's so strange."
"What you see isn't always the truth," Finnegan said. "There's a kind of disguise that can make someone look like someone else. If I'm not mistaken, the surveillance footage only shows their backs and sides."
"Yes," Ophelia said. " Finnegan, what do you think about it?"
"Someone disguised themselves as Jude and Paula to appear in the surveillance footage. As for the parking lot footage, it can be tampered with too. A skilled hacker can do that," Finnegan said. "If Celia is demanding a divorce, let them divorce."
The people from Moonlight Gate could definitely pull this off.
Finnegan was aware of Lloyd's goal. He aimed to throw the Abbott family into chaos and tear it apart.
"Divorce?" Ophelia was shocked. "Didn't you just say someone disguised themselves as Jude? He is innocent. You couldn't agree to their divorce."
"Divorce can save lives," Finnegan said. "Tell Celia she must divorce Jude in public as soon as possible."
Ophelia really didn't know what Finnegan was thinking.
She stared at Finnegan for a few seconds and said, "You know who's behind all this, don't you? Is it Lloyd?"
Lloyd got involved throughout the whole incident.
