Chapter 765 Sadness

When people were at their lowest, they'd believe in things they never did before.

They hoped for miracles, wishing they could turn back time.

Tate said, "I once wished there were ghosts so I could say goodbye to Aria."

She regretted not getting a proper farewell with Aria.

The rain kept pouring, and the night was freezing, cold enough to make one shiver.

Finnegan lay on the grave like a lifeless body.

Caspian walked over with an umbrella, holding it over Finnegan's head. "Finnegan, don't do this. Ophelia wouldn't want to see you like this."

Finnegan's eyes were open, but it didn't seem like he could see or hear anything. He didn't care about anything, just wanted to stay close to Ophelia's grave.

God couldn't hear his cries or see his pain.

"Finnegan," Caspian squatted down, "the rain's getting heavier. Let's go back."

Finnegan's eyes finally focused a bit. "Ophelia's afraid of the cold and dark. I can't leave her alone. I need to stay."

"Finnegan, I know you're hurting, but this won't change anything," Caspian said. "Think about Warmie. She needs you."

Finnegan didn't respond. He closed his eyes, tears streaming down his face.

No matter how much Caspian tried, Finnegan wouldn't leave. Caspian had to stay with him.

Caspian called Lynn to update them.

Susan was worried but knew Finnegan had to get through this himself.

Tate also stayed at the cemetery until dawn.

The rain stopped, and the sun came out. Finnegan slept in front of Ophelia's grave, curled up, not wanting to leave or face anyone.

Caspian and Tate couldn't stay forever, so they went back to the hotel.

Caspian bought Finnegan clean clothes and food.

As expected, Finnegan didn't eat.

No one could persuade Finnegan to leave the cemetery.

Lynn talked to him for a long time, trying to get him to leave, but Finnegan didn't say a word.

Celia cried in front of Finnegan and Ophelia's tombstone, but he remained unmoved.

Susan's words didn't work either.

Later, Tate and Caspian brought Warmie.

Finnegan lay on the ground, motionless, looking like a homeless person, far from his usual self.

He had a high fever, his body burning up, then feeling cold, feverish and dazed.

Warmie walked up the steps, looking at Finnegan who lay on the ground. She paused, furrowing her little brows, then walked over.

Warmie squatted next to Finnegan, touched his hand, and brushed the hair off his forehead.

"Daddy, what's wrong?"

Her voice was soft and tender, and she felt sorry for him.

Just that one sentence made Tate and Caspian feel bad.

In front of Warmie was Ophelia's grave, her mother's grave, but Warmie didn't know her mother was lying there.

Finnegan didn't respond. Warmie gently shook his hand and called again, "Daddy, the ground is cold. You'll get sick."

These were things Celia had taught her. When Warmie played on the ground, Celia would say the same thing. Now Warmie was using those words to care for Finnegan.

After calling a few times, Finnegan finally opened his eyes.

His eyes were bloodshot, and the tear stains on his face had never dried.

Seeing Warmie, Finnegan's heart filled with sorrow again.

"Warmie, I'm useless," he muttered.

His voice was hoarse. He felt so useless for not protecting Ophelia, for letting Warmie lose her mother so young.

Caspian and Tate felt bad hearing this but couldn't offer any comfort.

Warmie sat on the ground, looking at the tombstone, and asked in her innocent voice, "Daddy, who is lying here?"

After boss's baby, she Escape
