Chapter 43 Reconciliation
"Ophelia is pregnant?" Seraphina was shocked, her face instantly changing color.
"When did this happen?" Seraphina questioned, "When did Ophelia tell you? How come I didn't know about it?"
"You two had a fight, and you blocked her. How could she tell you?" Magnus said, "You two are good friends, and you used to share everything with each other. Seraphina, do you know if Ophelia knows any men? Who she has been close to?"
Magnus had called Seraphina over also to find out who had taken advantage of Ophelia.
He wanted to find that person and make him take responsibility for Ophelia.
Magnus liked Ophelia, but his affection was not about possession. He just wanted her to be happy.
"Ophelia didn’t tell you who the child's father is?" Seraphina deduced.
Magnus nodded, "Ophelia won't say. Seraphina, do you know?"
How could Seraphina not know? The child Ophelia was carrying was undoubtedly Finnegan's. Seraphina felt threatened. If Ophelia had a child, would she seek Finnegan to take responsibility? Wouldn't she be ruined then? The child would be Ophelia's trump card. With the child in hand, wouldn't the Abbott family be at her mercy?
"Seraphina?" Magnus noticed Seraphina's strange expression and asked, "Do you know or not?"
"I don't know," Seraphina denied, "Ophelia never told me."
"I see." Magnus did not suspect her.
Seraphina asked, "Does Ophelia want to keep the child?"
"She said she would keep it."
"What is she keeping it for?" Seraphina was a bit agitated, "Is she going to find that man and make him take responsibility?"
"Ophelia's intention is to be a single mother," Magnus said, "We are all orphans. Our parents abandoned us, so naturally, Ophelia wouldn't want to abandon her child."
Hearing this, Seraphina breathed a sigh of relief. As long as Ophelia wasn’t going to make Finnegan take responsibility, she still had a chance.
While they were talking, Ophelia arrived.
Seraphina went to open the door, "Ophelia, you're here."
This time Seraphina was very enthusiastic, "Sit down and rest for a while. Magnus prepared shrimp for you today. We'll have it cold later."
The two friends had been cold to each other for so long. They were still making snide remarks at each other in City B yesterday, but today Seraphina was so warm.
Ophelia felt a bit dazed.
The old Seraphina seemed to have returned.
Magnus also came out of the kitchen, "Ophelia, I've stewed some chicken for you. It's good for girls to eat chicken to supplement protein, which is good for the body."
Ophelia laughed, "I can already smell the delicious aroma."
Seraphina asked, "Ophelia, do you eat garlic? I'll go peel some."
Ophelia replied, "Yes, I do. Do you have chili and cilantro?"
"We have everything," Magnus was glad to see the two reconciled. He brought out the garlic and chili, "I've washed the cilantro; you guys can peel the garlic."
The three had clear roles and quickly, the chicken and cold shrimp were served. Magnus also made two side dishes, which were more than enough for the three of them.
Magnus served the best piece of chicken to Ophelia, "Eat more to nourish your body. Have more soup later, it's good."
"Okay." Ophelia was not shy and started eating.
Seraphina felt another wave of jealousy wash over her after seeing how considerate Magnus was towards Ophelia. From childhood, Magnus always took care of Ophelia first and gave the best to her.
Ophelia tasted it and felt that it was lacking something, "I need to add some vinegar."
Ophelia added a lot of vinegar, and it began to smell sour. It's said that some people crave sour foods when they were pregnant.
Seraphina felt even more jealous, but on the surface, she calmly asked, "Ophelia, Magnus just told me that you're pregnant. Why didn't you tell me about such a big thing? Come, let's have a drink to celebrate."
Ophelia subconsciously looked at Magnus.
Magnus said, "Ophelia, I had a chat with Seraphina just now."
"Ophelia, this is a happy event. If Magnus is the godfather, then I want to be the godmother," Seraphina laughed, "Are you still mad at me? It was my fault. I said those things because I had a fight with my boyfriend and was in a bad mood."
Ophelia naturally wouldn't hold a grudge against Seraphina. Since Seraphina had given her a way out, she took it.
"How could I be mad? I'd be more than happy for you to be the godmother," Ophelia raised her glass.
Magnus laughed, "I'm relieved now that you two have finally made up."
