Chapter 701 Questioning Lily
Everything went back to normal. Susan's health was poor, so Finnegan had to take over the company again.
But Finnegan still focused more on Lily, leaving the company's affairs to trusted people.
Except for important meetings and signing off on major projects, Finnegan rarely made appearances.
He also refused any media interviews. Many media outlets wanted to interview him about Ophelia's return, but Finnegan wouldn't let the media disturb their peaceful life.
Winter in Yorkhaven was getting colder.
On this day, there was an important meeting at the company. Finnegan brought Lily to the office, letting her watch movies, eat snacks, and rest in his office.
Linda heard that Ophelia had come to the company and excitedly went to the office to see her.
When she saw Lily playing on the sofa, Linda almost cried.
Really, Ophelia had returned.
Lily turned around and greeted her with a smile, "Hello."
Lily didn't know who Linda was, but judging by her attire, she was definitely an employee of the company, so she greeted her politely.
"Ophelia, you really came back alive."
Linda had heard that she had returned, but she hadn't had the chance to see her. Today, after seeing Ophelia, she finally believed it.
"Yes." Lily nodded. "Would you like some fruit?"
Seeing Linda's reaction, Lily could tell that she was also someone who hoped for Ophelia's return.
"No, thank you." Linda walked closer. "Ophelia, this is really wonderful."
Lily smiled but didn't respond.
At this moment, Atticus also came to the office specifically to see if Ophelia had really returned. When he saw Lily's face, he was also very surprised. "Mrs. Abbott, you really came back."
"Hello to you too," Lily greeted. "Sorry, I don't remember much from before. Who are you?"
Linda quickly introduced herself, "I'm Linda, Mr. Abbott's secretary."
Atticus chimed in, "I'm Atticus, Mr. Abbott's assistant. We've both worked with Mr. Abbott for many years."
Lily nodded in an understanding manner.
"Please, have a seat," Lily said. "Make yourselves comfortable."
In the past, the two of them were also very casual in front of Ophelia, without much formality or strict hierarchy.
The two sat down, both wanting to reminisce with Lily.
Lily asked Atticus and Linda about past events, wanting to learn more about her past.
They told Lily everything, and the conversation went very well.
Just then, Lynn pushed the door open and came in. "Atticus, Linda, you're both here too. Ophelia, I heard from Celia that you and Finnegan came to the company, so I stopped by to see you."
"Lynn," Atticus and Linda greeted her warmly.
In their eyes, Lynn's status was also special. If Ophelia hadn't returned, Lynn might have become Finnegan's wife.
Lynn raised the roasted potatoes in her hand and said, "Would you like to try some? I just bought them, and they're still warm. Ophelia, you used to love these."
"They smell pretty good." Lily smiled and took a bite.
Atticus said, "Lynn, we won't eat any. We have work to do. I'll get back to it."
Linda also took the hint. "I need to deliver a document. Ophelia, we'll chat next time."
Lily smiled. "Alright, go ahead."
The two of them left, leaving only Lynn and Lily in the office.
Lynn casually asked, "Finnegan is in a meeting?"
"Yes, he should be a while longer," Lily said. "Are you looking for him?"
"No, I wanted to chat with you. We haven't had a chance to catch up since you came back." Lynn smiled and asked, "By the way, Ophelia, when you fell into the sea, how were you rescued? Who saved you?"
"It was a whale," Lily said. "I vaguely remember being on the back of a whale. When I woke up, I was at home. My dad, Dylan, told me that I had encountered a typhoon at sea and was saved by a whale. But I don't remember much. I thought I was Dylan's daughter until memories started coming back, and I followed them to Yorkhaven."
Lynn was shocked. She hadn't expected Lily to say that.
But the world was full of wonders. Lynn had seen news reports about a man who disappeared at sea for months and was eventually rescued, also by a whale, after being attacked by sharks.
"Why do you go by Lily?" Lynn asked.
Lily answered frankly, "When I woke up, Dylan told me my name was Lily."
"A life-saving grace should be repaid. Didn't Finnegan go back with you to thank the person who saved you?"
