Chapter 708 Finnegan Drank Too Much
Lily froze, staring at the dashing Finnegan. She bit her lip and said, "A well-intentioned lie gives the living something to hold onto. Gavin told me the real Lily is already dead."
Suddenly, Lily threw her arms around Finnegan. "I may not remember everything, but I'm willing to be Ophelia, Warmie's mom, and Dylan's daughter, Lily."
Finnegan's heart swelled with joy. This was the first time Lily had hugged him on her own.
He felt like his wife had finally come back.
"Okay," Finnegan said with a smile. "You are my wife."
Lily hugged him briefly before pulling away. "Let's go see Lily. Gavin said you wanted to mourn her. She saved my life. Now that I'm back, we should pay our respects. Who knows when we'll get another chance?"
"Alright, whatever you say," Finnegan replied, always ready to follow her lead.
They took Warmie to buy a bouquet and headed to the cemetery.
In the cold winter, the cemetery was deserted.
The wet bluestone paths had patches of snow, making them slippery.
Finnegan carried Warmie while Lily held the bouquet, leading the way.
Soon, they arrived at a nameless tombstone.
"This is it," Lily said, glancing at the stone. "Gavin didn't want Dylan to be heartbroken, so he left it nameless. Finnegan, the person buried here saved my life. She's important to both of us. We should pay our respects and have Warmie bow to her."
"Of course," Finnegan said, setting Warmie down. He looked at the tombstone, filled with regret and gratitude. "Warmie, bow to her."
Warmie, unsure of what to do, followed Finnegan's guidance and bowed properly.
Finnegan knelt and spoke to the tombstone, "I'm Finnegan, and this is my daughter Warmie. Thank you for saving my wife. Today, we bow to you. May you find happiness in Heaven."
Lily stood behind them, tears silently falling as she looked at the tombstone.
She quickly wiped her tears, placed the bouquet down, and said, "I'm here to see you. Thank you for saving me. I have to go now, and I don't know when I'll be back. I'll take care of your loved ones."
The overcast sky suddenly cleared, and the snow stopped.
Finnegan touched the tombstone gently and whispered, "Thank you."
They didn't stay long in the cemetery. It was too cold, especially for little Warmie.
Back home, they stayed in, keeping warm by the heater and spending time with Warmie.
After two days with the Cooper family, Finnegan took Lily and Warmie back to Yorkhaven.
Gavin wanted to come along, but Lily thought Dylan was too old to be left alone, so she didn't agree.
This time, Lily didn't stay at The Abbott Mansion but returned to their own villa.
Lily found a job as Finnegan's secretary at Abbott's Corporation. Everything seemed to return to how it was before, back to the starting point.
At home, Lily was Finnegan's wife. At work, she was his secretary.
Her job was easy, allowing her to leave on time to be with Warmie.
Lily and Finnegan still slept in separate rooms. She used the excuse of not having recovered her memory yet and often had Warmie sleep with her in the guest room.
One night, after putting Warmie to bed, Lily noticed it was already ten o'clock and Finnegan wasn't home yet. She heard a car pull up outside.
Usually, Finnegan came home early, having turned down many social engagements to spend time with her and Warmie.
In their free time, they visited places they had been to before, searching for memories.
Lily went downstairs and saw Atticus helping a drunk Finnegan onto the sofa.
"Mrs. Abbott, Mr. Abbott is drunk," Atticus said, looking up at her.
