Chapter 592 Encouraging Jude
With enough bargaining chips, nothing is unsolvable.
The Abbott family was well-known. Susan built it, and Finnegan took it to the next level. Frankly speaking, Jude has no real power or money.
Paula pondered silently, and Susan glanced at her, saying, "Alright, stop thinking about it. If you don't name a price, I'll give you one. One million dollars. Take the money and keep quiet about this. If you're really not satisfied, then go find Jude and make a fuss. See if he can marry you or give you money. This family is not Jude's to control."
Paula knew well that Jude couldn't make decisions. If Finnegan and Susan were ruthless, Jude would only get an allowance.
Celia, after all, was Finnegan's biological mother, so her offerwouldn't be bad. She could spend money freely, with Finnegan footing the bill.
There was no reason for Paula to spend the Abbott family's money.
Finnegan wouldn't spend money on someone unrelated.
After some thought, Paula said, "Mrs. Abbott, you are looking down on me, fine, but one million dollars is too little. You're a wealthy family. You can make billions of dollars in no time."
"You want a few billion?" Susan, holding her cane, said calmly, "Alright, go find Jude. He's in his fifties now, and even if he's not as strong as before,He has no problem offering you billions of dollars. Maybe not all at once, but in installments."
At first, Paula didn't catch on and smiled, but then she realized something was off and her face darkened with anger. "Mrs. Abbott, your family is being shameless."
Paula was shocked that such vulgar words came from Susan's mouth.
The billion Susan mentioned wasn't about money but about Jude's sperm, which could indeed be billions.
Susan's face darkened, exuding authority without anger. "You're the one being unreasonable first. Show her out."
Susan called out, and John immediately came over. "Ms. Ward, please."
Paula was furious. "Mrs. Abbott."
Susan remained unmoved.
Paula knew that once she stepped out of this door, she would lose her bargaining opportunity.
After thinking for a while, Paula gritted her teeth. "Fine, one million dollars it is."
Everything went according to Susan's plan. She wrote Paula a check, signed an agreement, and sent her on her way.
As Paula was leaving, she ran into Jude in the yard and gave him and Lloyd a resentful glare.
She had tried to gain something but ended up with nothing from either man.
However, Paula didn't lose out entirely. She had lay in bed with Jude naked, but they hadn't done anything. She was still a virgin.
Getting one million dollars like this was already a gain.
Seeing Paula leave, Jude hurried into the living room. "Mom, you convinced Paula?"
"Behave yourself from now on. If you cause more trouble, I won't be able to help you." Susan wasn't angry, but felt helpless.
She had raised a useless son who couldn't handle anything.
"Mom, I'm sorry for causing you trouble." Jude was self-aware.
Susan sighed, "You're neither a good son nor a good father. You've spent your life just eating, drinking, and having fun. You're so old now, and even your marriage is a mess. When will you truly take your own responsibilities?"
Susan's scolding made Jude feel ashamed. Ouside the door Lloyd was watching.
Susan scolded a bit more, then, feeling tired, went to her room to rest.
Jude smoked in the living room, sighing.
Lloyd walked over. "Jude, don't be so upset."
"Lloyd, I've lived half my life and achieved nothing. Am I really such a failure?" Jude looked like a man with unfulfilled ambitions.
"I'm not good at business, and I have no other skills. For many years, my life has been orchestrated by my mother. I got married, had children, and when Finnegan was born, she was the one who raised him. I remained uninvolved. This family seems not to need me. Now that Celia and I are divorced, and Finnegan's eyesight is poor. The burden falls on Ophelia. I'm really useless."
"Jude, don't say that," Lloyd encouraged. "I thinkyou have great potential. Don't underestimate yourself. How do you know you can't do it before you even try? Mom is getting old, Finnegan's eyesight is poor, and Ophelia is busy taking care of Warmie. Now it's time to prove yourself."
"What should I do?" Jude, suddenly energized, said, "Lloyd, tell me what to do."
"Abbott's Corporation needs a leader now. And you should try. . If Mom sees your change, Finnegan will also be reassured," Lloyd said. "Jude, I believe you can do it."
