Chapter 575 Two-Faced Lloyd
When people were angry, they could do anything.
The next day, Celia arrived at the family court first. She initially thought Jude wouldn't dare to come. If he didn't, she would forgive him.
But when she saw Jude arrive, her anger flared up again.
'Is he really so eager to divorce me? Fine, if he wants someone else, I won't force him to live with me. Divorce it is,' she thought.
Celia glared at Jude and walked into the family court.
Jude wanted to say something but didn't have the chance. In fact, he didn't really want a divorce. Seeing Celia go in, he followed, not wanting to appear coward.
They had been married for over thirty years, and Jude was usually the one who gave in. This time, he didn't, for the sake of his dignity and his innocence.
Jude's refusal to back down only made Celia angrier. In their fit of anger, they impulsively got divorced.
They didn't have any joint property as the entire Abbott family was managed by Finnegan, who was the one making money. The divorce procedure went smoothly, even without a property division agreement.
Even after the divorce, they were still Finnegan's parents. Finnegan would provide alimony every month to support them.
After completing the divorce procedures, Celia walked away without looking back. She cried as soon as she left the family court, hiding in her car and cursing, "Jude is such a heartless bastard. He really dared to divorce me."
Jude walked out and saw Celia's car leaving. He sighed and went back home, sitting dejectedly in the yard.
It happened within just a few days, yet he never dreamed he would divorce Celia one day.
"Jude, what are you doing sitting here?" Lloyd came back from outside. "You look so down. What's wrong?"
Jude couldn't muster any energy and said, "Celia divorced me. She was impulsive and wouldn't listen to my explanation. Now it's done. We're really divorced."
"You and Celia got divorced?" Lloyd was a bit surprised but also pleased and sneering inwardly.
He knew they were having divorce issues but didn't expect it to happen so quickly.
'Decades of marriage collapsed so easily? Is it over just like that?' Lloyd thought.
Jude showed the divorce decree to Lloyd. "We just got divorced this morning. I was impulsive too. I regret arguing with her."
Jude irritably scratched his head, feeling very frustrated.
Seeing Jude's frustration, Lloyd was satisfied.
At this moment, Susan came downstairs with a cane. Seeing Jude and Lloyd in the yard, she walked over and asked, "Jude, Celia has been back at her parents' house for days. Are you really not going to bring her back? I don't believe there is any grudge between you two. Go get her back."
Lloyd said, "Mom, Jude and Celia are divorced."
Susan couldn't believe it. She quickly walked over to Jude with her cane and saw the divorce decree on the table. She picked it up and saw it was dated today.
Susan angrily raised her cane and hit Jude on the back. "You fool, how dare you divorce Celia at your age? You've ruined the family."
Jude was a filial son. Although he was not capable, he never talked back to Susan. He didn't make a sound when hit and said, "Mom, it's done. Celia won't reconcile with me. I must have been possessed. How could I have slept with Paula?"
Lloyd said, "Jude, it's my fault. If I hadn't asked you to help, you wouldn't have gone out."
Jude still didn't get it and said, "Lloyd, what does this have to do with you? It's all my fault. Now everything is messed up. I really wanted to set Paula up with you, Lloyd. You have to believe me. I'm not that kind of person."
"Jude, I believe you." Lloyd pretended to stand by Jude's side..
Susan angrily said, "Jude, you're really foolish. Go find Celia and apologize."
Jude sat still. "I won't."
"Are you trying to annoy me to death?" Susan asked with irresistible anger.
Susan raised her cane to hit Jude again, and Lloyd quickly intervened, "Mom, don't blame Jude. Don't get angry. Let me help you inside to rest."
