Chapter 532 Faux Amnesia

Finnegan tried to reach out his hand and waved it in front of his eyes, unable to see anything. Estimating that it had been two or three days since the incident, Ophelia must be frantic. But he couldn't leave, and with his eyes unable to see, he was even more clueless about his surroundings.

Calculating the time, he heard footsteps again. From the footsteps, he could tell whether it was a doctor, a nurse, or perhaps the person in charge.

The scent of perfume wafted toward Finnegan, and he caught a whiff of it.

Niamh approached, staring at Finnegan in the bed, holding him in her hands, feeling empowered. She felt a sense of satisfaction.

"Who are you?" Finnegan listened intently, looking at Niamh, his gaze unfocused.

Niamh reached out to touch Finnegan's face, but Finnegan quickly grabbed her hand.

Startled, Niamh tried to pull her hand back, but Finnegan held on tightly. In this struggle, Finnegan's hand happened to touch the prosthetic finger on Niamh's hand.

Even though Niamh wore gloves and had fake fingers, real fingers and fake ones felt different from the touch. Moreover, Niamh usually wore black gloves made of gauze. When Finnegan felt the gauzy texture and the prosthetic finger just now, he immediately guessed it was Niamh.

'How did I end up in Niamh's hands?' he thought. After a moment of surprise, Finnegan calmly let go of Niamh. Niamh, feeling anxious, quickly reattached the prosthetic finger. She was worried that Finnegan would recognize her. Just as she was about to come up with an excuse, she heard Finnegan speak.

"Can't you speak?" Finnegan asked calmly. "Where am I? Who am I?"

Upon hearing the last question, Niamh was shocked. 'Finnegan doesn't know who he is. What's going on? Has he injured his brain? But wasn't he fine before? Just blind?' she thought.

Niamh hurried out to call the two doctors to examine Finnegan.

Even though all kinds of medical equipment were available here, whether a person had amnesia couldn't be tested by a machine.

But Finnegan really had no memory of anything. In the end, the doctor concluded to Niamh, "Mrs. Parks, the patient may have a brain injury. Initially, there were no symptoms, but as time passed, a blood clot in the brain grew larger, pressing on the nerves and causing confusion or memory loss. This is normal. Once the clot dissolves, perhaps the memories will return."

Niamh was particularly excited. "He really doesn't remember? That's great."

The doctor said, "For now, that seems to be the case."

Niamh was thrilled. She went back to the room and saw Finnegan lying on the bed, looking dazed. Niamh decided to probe further to see if Finnegan really had lost his memory.

Upon hearing footsteps, Finnegan knew what Niamh was up to.

Niamh would definitely come to confirm if he had truly lost his memory.

Sure enough, Niamh sat down by the bed, looking at the blind Finnegan, and said, "I'm Niamh Parks. I saved you. You were in a car accident, and I brought you back for treatment." Niamh stared at Finnegan, not missing any expression on his face.

Finnegan pretended to look confused. "I was in a car accident? You can speak. Why didn't you speak earlier?"

Niamh couldn't outwit Finnegan in this game of wits.

Finnegan continued to play along with Niamh. Now that he was in Niamh's hands, with his leg injured and his eyes unable to see, he could only be at her mercy. He had to pretend to have amnesia and also use this opportunity to test Niamh.

'Who were the people trying to kill me that night, and what's Niamh's connection to them?' he thought.

Niamh couldn't glean any clues from Finnegan's reactions. She asked, "I was startled by you just now. Do you really not remember your name?"

Finnegan looked genuinely clueless and shook his head. "I don't remember. Do you know me?"

"I don't know," Niamh quickly replied. "I saw you were injured, so I brought you back. I don't know how to contact your family. Do you not remember any information about your family?"

Finnegan shook his head. "I don't remember. My head hurts." Finnegan put on a pained expression.

'Not remembering is actually a good thing,' Niamh thought.

Niamh was ecstatic and said with feigned concern, "Don't worry. I'll have the doctors cure you."
