Chapter 145 Erin Accuses Ethan of Being Blind
The most shocked of them all was Richard.
His boss, who could barely fend for herself and got hypoglycemia from merely soaking up some sun, had just thrown a kick that screamed of a professional kickboxer.
Zelda, having been kicked against the wall, knocked her head and was momentarily dazed.
It took her a while to come to her senses, her eyes widening in shock as she stared at Erin. "How dare you kick me?"
"How did my kid get hurt on his face?" Erin grabbed Zelda by the hair, glaring warningly at her stunned bodyguards. "Get out, all of you! This is a hospital!"
The bodyguards exchanged glances, not yet recovering from the shock, only to be cleared out by the ones Erin had brought along.
Most of Zelda's bodyguards were just security guards, playing a numbers game, whereas Erin's ex-husband was in the M-country mafia. Her bodyguards were on the level of mercenaries.
It was not a fair match.
Jasmine stood trembling, momentarily lost in the chaos.
Ethan covered Jasmine's mouth to stop her from speaking. Since someone was already giving Zelda a lesson, there was no need to interrupt.
Actually, Ethan had also planned to teach Zelda a lesson tonight if she hadn't struck first.
His typical means, however, involved magical attacks. On the way there, Ethan had already issued a warning to the Brown family, cutting off business ties with them, not just in commerce but in all the industries they were involved in, including Stellar Enterprises.
Moreover, Ethan had made calls to other key partners of the Browns.
Zelda's father was already aware and had bombarded Ethan with calls on his way over. By now, the Browns were likely scrambling to get here.
But magic, as Ethan employed it, was never as direct as Erin's physical approach.
"You crazy woman, who the hell are you?!" Zelda cried out in pain as Erin dragged her by the hair to the bedside.
With a thud, Erin slammed Zelda's head against the side of the bedstead.
Justin shivered, his big eyes blinking in awe. Erin was so cool.
"Kid, did she hit you?" Erin asked.
Justin nodded, then shook his head. "The glass shattered, and a shard cut my forehead."
Justin was an honest kid.
"Who the hell are you? Richard, get this crazy chick off me..." Zelda was crying. The pain was too much. She had never faced such humiliation in her life. She was always the one dishing it out, never on the receiving end.
Richard stepped forward, opened his mouth, only to be silenced by a glare from Erin.
"You trying to step in for her?" Erin squinted her eyes threateningly at Richard.
Richard frowned. "She's a Brown, I don't want you courting trouble."
"A Brown? Ha! Silverlight City got a Brown family?" Erin turned to Ryan; her tone serious. "The Silverlight City Browns? What do they do?"
"Alliances, I guess? The Boston Patricks, Henry, is her fiance." Ryan, focusing on suturing Justin's wound, mentioned casually. "Oh, and her sister is Harper, the one trending these past days for her engagement to Ethan."
"Henry, Ethan?" Erin's voice rose a notch. "Henry's fine, but Ethan? What, has he gone blind?"
Jasmine shivered at the doorway, looking back at Ethan, who was accused of being blind.
'This woman is fierce,' Jasmine thought with envy.
Ethan coughed lightly. "I'm not blind."
Erin glanced back and saw Ethan standing in the doorway.
The shivering woman in front of him must be Jasmine.
Erin had seen Jasmine before in a photograph.
It was Justin's treasured picture, calling his mom an angel.
"Ethan! Ethan, save me." Zelda's nose was bruised, bleeding profusely, and her forehead was swollen. She cried out for Ethan's help.
Ethan's face was the picture of indifference, as if saying he didn't know this woman.
"Jasmine." Richard hurried over, protectively stepping in front of Jasmine. "Didn't I say not to come?"
"I..." Jasmine shook her head. "It's okay, I'll handle this."
Approaching the bed, Jasmine looked at Justin with concern.
Justin, frozen with fear, saw Jasmine and started crying, raising his hand to cover the wound. "Don't look Mom, I'm okay."
Ryan finished dressing Justin's wound and spoke with a frown, "Take good care of the kid."
"Thank you... thank you, Dr. Ryan," Jasmine quickly expressed her gratitude, lunging forward to embrace Justin. "I'm sorry, I'm late."
Justin's eyes were red, and as he looked at Ethan, he timidly opened his mouth but ultimately didn't call out "Dad."
Ethan gazed at Justin, whose pale face was nearly bloodless, with eyes red and swollen from crying.
Feeling an inexplicable surge of heartache, Ethan stepped forward to take Justin in his arms. "Does it hurt?"
Justin clung to Ethan, affectionately nuzzling against his shoulder. "It doesn't hurt..."
Ethan's eyes dark with menace, he glared at Zelda. "Do you have a death wish?"
Erin had initially thought Ethan was there to help Zelda, but now it seemed things were getting interesting.
Twisting a handful of Zelda's hair, Erin shattered a nearby glass and pressed a shard against her face. "Tell me, if I leave a mark on your face, will you learn your lesson?"
"Help! You crazy woman, let me go!" Zelda was terrified, struggling with all her might, but she was no match for Erin. Crying out loudly and ultimately resorting to pleading with Jasmine. "Jasmine! Who is this lunatic? Tell her to let me go, or I swear I'll kill you."
Jasmine clenched her fists tightly, her eyes brimming red with restrained emotion.
Back then, Zelda had trapped her in an alley with her goons, indifferent to her tears and pleas.
Erin's punishment was nothing in compared to that.
"Jasmine, do you think you're untouchable now with your backer? You've brought this madwoman into the picture. Just you wait..." Zelda cried out, threatening Jasmine between sobs, choosing to pick on someone she deemed an easier target.
"Huh? You can still scream?" Erin used the shard to scratch across Zelda's forehead, coincidentally on the same spot where Justin had been hurt.
Terrified, Zelda burst into tears, shrieking, "Jasmine, I will never let you guys off..."
Jasmine, with reddened eyes, ducked behind Ethan without saying a word.
Truth be told, she felt a twinge of happiness.
Seeing Zelda in such a miserable state, she actually felt a sense of relief.
Yet, at the same time, she felt like crying.
Satisfied with the mark on Zelda's forehead, Erin nodded. "Dr. Ryan, take care of her wounds. I'll cover the costs."
Disdainfully pushing Zelda away, Erin looked Jasmine up and down. "So, you're Justin's mom?"
Jasmine nodded nervously. "Yes..."
Erin smirked at Ethan. "And what exactly is your relationship with them?" She had a gut feeling. Their relationship was definitely not ordinary.
Women's intuition was often too astute.
She and Ethan had been classmates since kindergarten; she understood him well enough.
This man could be icy when he wanted to, could watch his own father die without batting an eye, yet he was protectively watching over Jasmine and even willingly embracing Justin.
He was famously germophobic.
"It's the blindness," Ethan said darkly.
"Ha..." Erin laughed, her interest in Jasmine growing by the minute.
She had once wondered what kind of woman it would take to snag a man like Ethan. She even talked about whether she would live long enough to see it all.
"Ethan, who would've thought you'd have this day..." Erin chuckled, taking a seat on the hospital bed.
Ethan raised an eyebrow, reminding Erin. "Zelda is Henry's fiancee. I hear they're going to officially start planning their engagement party soon. You've marred her face; be careful Henry doesn't come after you."
Erin laughed. "Henry? He should go get his eyes checked first."
"Ethan." Outside, the Brown family had arrived.
Zelda's parents, Harper, and Howard.
"Mom! Dad! Uncle Douglas!" Zelda cried, scrambling over in a mess.
"Hah..." Ethan squinted his eyes. The Browns were clever, bringing Howard to keep him in check.
Howard's face was stern as he glanced at Ethan. "Ethan, come out!"
