Chapter 806 Edward's wife was bullied

Silverlight City, the Cunningham Group.

Hestia, as an intern in the legal department, was attending a meeting with her supervisor.

"Today is the executive assessment. You need to meet the president to test your adaptability. However, there have been some personnel changes recently, and Mr. Nolan Cunningham has to leave temporarily. We don't know the temperament of the new president, so good luck to you all." The supervisor looked at the ten interns in front of him. "This year, due to position adjustments, our team can only keep four people. Do your best."

Hestia took a deep breath. She had researched Nolan's information and understood his personality and details. Now she was being told that Nolan was temporarily leaving the company?

What kind of personality did the new president have?

"Do you know who the new president is?" the other interns whispered. "The Cunningham family has three sons. With Nolan gone, it should be the second son or the youngest son, right?"

"We haven't investigated the other two." Everyone was extremely nervous.

"Hestia, do you know who the new president is?" they asked her.

Hestia shook her head. "I don't know."

"This is going to be tough. If we stutter and make mistakes, we'll definitely be eliminated." Everyone was upset.

Hestia was also a bit nervous but still earnestly encouraged herself.

It's okay, stay calm.

Just as they were about to go in, Silas came over. "Sorry everyone, the president's interview session was temporarily canceled. The president has an urgent meeting to attend."

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief. This meeting came at just the right time.

Hestia also breathed a sigh of relief and took out her phone to message Edward: [Did you hear? The Cunningham Group has a new president.]

Edward quickly replied: [Seems like it.]

Hestia asked: [I wonder what the new president's personality is like.]

[Pretty good.]

[Have you met him?]

Edward replied: [Of course.]

Hestia got a bit excited: [Then give me some extra coaching.]

Edward smiled: [Didn't you say didn't need extra coaching?]

Hestia was stunned: [Only a fool would refuse extra coaching. I'm not someone with connections, so a little extra coaching is fine.]

Edward: [I'll tell you when I get home tonight. There's something going on at home.]

Hestia asked: [Do you need my help?]

Edward refused: [No, I can handle it alone. When you decide to recognize me, I'll take you home.]

Hestia and Edward got married shortly after meeting. Hestia did it to deal with her family and to escape the rumors at school. But she felt she wasn't ready yet, so she and Edward agreed to get the marriage license first and then date.

If they were suitable for each other, they would go public.

Edward agreed to this.

Hestia blushed a little and replied: [You go ahead and take care of your things. I'll make ribs for dinner, come home and eat.]

Edward teased: [Having a wife is great.]

Hestia closed her phone and headed to the legal department.

Dating a handsome guy really made her fall for him quickly.

Hestia also admitted that she was a sucker for good looks.

Mainly, Edward was excellent in every aspect.

On the day they got the marriage license, she was surprised to see that Edward's last name was Cunningham and mentioned that the president of the Cunningham Group also had the last name Cunningham.

Edward said that Cunningham was a common surname in Silverlight City.

She didn't think much of it because there was also an intern named Idris Cunningham.

In Silverlight City, the surname Cunningham was indeed quite common.

"Hestia, come here for a moment." The supervisor called out to Hestia.

She quickly followed.

The supervisor took Hestia to a place without cameras and spoke softly. "Hestia, I heard you came from a small town. Getting into Stanford University must have been tough, right?"

Hestia had always been a top student, excelling even in her small town.

Even though Hestia found that there's a whole new world in the big city, she had always been low-key and dedicated to self-improvement.

"Sir, what do you mean?" Hestia didn't quite understand the supervisor's intention.

The supervisor sighed and spoke softly. "To be honest, your chances of staying are slim. These ten people are all top students. Although your grades are good, you don't have any connections. Do you understand?"

The supervisor took out a business card from his pocket. "Don't be discouraged. I admire you. This is my friend's law firm. You can work there directly, with a starting salary of $20,000 plus case bonuses."

Hestia looked at the business card, stunned. "You mean you want me to voluntarily give up this promotion opportunity?"

The supervisor nodded. "You're a smart person. Even if you stay until the end, you won't have a chance. It's better to give up now."

Hestia being the top performer voluntarily stepping back might smooth out the abruptness of the others who relied on connections.

The supervisor had obviously been bribed.

"Sorry, but I still want to try." Hestia shook her head. "I've worked hard to prove myself and to show that the Cunningham Group doesn't rely on connections. I admire this company, which is why I want to stay."

The supervisor frowned, clearly unhappy. "Hestia, there are only four spots. You can't stay."

"Did you take money from four people and worry that if I stay, you won't be able to return the money?" Hestia bluntly pointed out. "The legal department is the core of a company, related to the company's vital interests. I think you are wrong. Competent individuals possess their abilities regardless of their surroundings; those who resort to underhanded tactics indicate a lack of confidence in their professional knowledge. How can they be expected to uphold the company's interests effectively?"

The supervisor's face darkened, clearly feeling his pride hurt by being lectured by an intern. "Hestia, I appreciate you and offered you a high-paying job. If you stay here, you'll get nothing in the end."

"Even if that's the case, it's the result of my own efforts. No matter the outcome, I won't regret it." Hestia's attitude was firm.

The supervisor snorted and walked away.

Hestia lowered her eyes, feeling a bit disappointed.

She understood the supervisor's point. Without connections, it was indeed hard to stay.

The Cunningham family.

Jasmine held her child, looking worriedly at Edward. "Is this confirmed?"

"Nolan won't say, and we don't dare ask, so we pretend not to know." Edward leaned on the sofa.

"He's acting very strange, suddenly leaving the company to go to Sunrise City." Edgar also found it odd.

Ethan, who had just returned from the company, tried to comfort his worried siblings. "I checked at the hospital. The doctors don't know Nolan has cancer. Could it be a mistake?"

The three siblings looked at Ethan in unison.

"With Nolan's ability, if he wanted to hide it, we wouldn't be able to find out. He must have dealt with everything, and the doctors wouldn't dare to say anything." Edgar spoke first.

Jasmine also found it plausible and nodded.

Edward nodded as well. "That's right. If Nolan doesn't want us to know, he would hide it deeply. His sudden departure from the company is definitely suspicious."

Nolan was the workaholic of the Cunningham family, valuing the company more than his own life. It was impossible for him to suddenly leave the company and go to Sunrise City.

Something was definitely wrong.

Ethan was almost convinced by his three siblings but still had doubts. "Don't worry. I'll have someone check what Nolan is doing in Sunrise City."
