Chapter 288 May and Sophia's Relationship

In the audience, Nolan's gaze fell on Wilson.

Pausing for a moment, he knew that his mother liked Wilson, but this was too precious.

The value of that jewelry had long exceeded the short-term profits of the Westing Town project.

She actually wanted to give the jewelry to Wilson?

"Are you going to give this invaluable jewelry to an employee?"

"Oh my god, am I hearing this right?"

"Mrs. Cordelia, when you bought this jewelry in Country Y, you were already pregnant. We remember you said it was a dowry for your daughter's future. Now that your daughter has been found and you are even forming an alliance with Stellar Enterprises, how could you give this to someone else?"

"Yeah, how can you give it to someone who has no relationship with her?"

Cordelia ignored the journalists' words and smiled gently at Wilson sitting below the stage. "Wilson, come up here."

Wilson stood frozen in place, feeling a bit awkward.

She nervously looked at Ethan, feeling a bit confused.

What was going on?

Ethan obviously didn't expect Cordelia to give the jewelry to Wilson, but he still smiled at Wilson and said, "Go ahead, Mrs. Cordelia has made up her mind."

Wilson tightly held onto her skirt and stood up, walking towards the stage.

Regardless, she needed to stand in the spotlight now.

It was not only to protect herself but also to pave the way for Ethan's comeback.

Even though she was afraid of the camera flash and her body went numb with fear, Wilson mustered up the courage to stand up.

It turns out that loving someone can really overcome many fears.

Before meeting Ethan, she would stiffen up at the sight of cameras.

But now, she willingly and confidently stood there.

All because she knew Ethan was sitting below.

"Cunningham told me that you were the one who ran around and secured the Westing Town project," Cordelia said, holding Wilson's hand, her eyes filled with tears.

Wilson felt a little uncertain for a moment. "Mrs. Cordelia, it's my duty, and I have already received my bonus. You don't need to give me such a valuable gift."

Cordelia shook her head.

"No, you deserve it," Cordelia said meaningfully.

Wilson nodded, no longer refusing.

Although she didn't know Cordelia's intentions, with so many reporters present, it was only natural for her relationship with the Cunningham family to be even better.

"Is that the fake heiress from the Xu family?"

"It caused quite a stir six years ago, how did she manage to win the favor of the Cunningham family?"

"Wilson is really lucky."

The reporters in the audience and the guests behind them started to discuss, shocking everyone.

The most shocked of all, aside from the guests, was Annabelle. She didn't react for a long time. Did Cordelia actually give the set of jewelry to Wilson?

Why her? She was the daughter of the Cunningham family.

Behind Annabelle, the wealthy girls who had been fawning over her were also stunned. They hadn't expected that Mrs. Cordelia would give that set of jewelry to a stranger, Wilson, who had been considered a fake heiress six years ago.

Although she was already insanely jealous inside, Annabelle still smiled and spoke. "My mother values the reputation of the Cunningham family the most. She is happy that our company has successfully entered the Silverlight City market, and rewarding employees is also for publicity and momentum."

The wealthy girls didn't say anything.

Mrs. Cordelia was just too generous.

Cordelia spoke on stage, discussing various business models without mentioning her daughter Annabelle at all. Even when directly asked about the topic, she would smile and avoid it.

Sophia squinted her eyes, finding it hard to understand Cordelia.

Was this intentional, or did she already know that Annabelle was not her daughter?

The press conference ended, and the Cunningham family dinner officially began.

Cordelia walked over and held Annabelle's hand, smiling as she spoke. "Annabelle, Mom is just trying to protect you by keeping you away from the spotlight. Can you understand Mom's intentions? After all, there are too many unkind people watching you."

Cordelia said this on purpose.

Only then did Annabelle realize, "Mom, I understand."

Cordelia was very satisfied and led Annabelle to the dinner table of the Cunningham family. "This is your father, William."

William glanced coldly at Cordelia for a moment, but he managed to put on a friendly face for Annabelle. "Annabelle, I apologize for the suffering you've endured over the years."

Annabelle felt very wronged, and her eyes became teary. "Dad."

William felt somewhat guilty and nodded.

"Now that our daughter has been found, it's time to fulfill the promise of the shares we made back then," Cordelia reminded William, urging him to fulfill his promise.

William frowned and unhappily replied, "Today is a family dinner. All you care about are these commercial matters. We can't even have a sense of family when we're sitting together. Have you ever reflected on yourself these years?"

"What is there to reflect on? Should I reflect on why I focused on my career and neglected you? Do I still need to celebrate the fact that you found a mistress that satisfies you?" Cordelia sneered.

William slammed the table and looked at Ethan and Wilson, who were also sitting at the same table. He lowered his voice. "There are others around. Don't speak like this."

Wilson glanced at Ethan and under the table, they secretly held hands.

Ethan remained calm and gently squeezed Wilson's hand, feeling how soft it was.

"Madam, Ethan and I have other matters to attend to. We'll take our leave," Wilson said, understanding that she and Ethan didn't want to be involved in the Cunningham family dispute. She stood up and gave a respectful bow.

The matters of the Cunningham family were too complicated, and it was not something she and Ethan could intervene in.

"Cunningham, see Wilson and Ethan off," Cordelia nodded and asked Nolan to escort them.

Nolan nodded and stood up, looking at Ethan.

"No need to thank me," Nolan said softly.
Ethan chuckled. "Why should I thank you?"

"You've been kicked out by Stellar Enterprises, and Howard has taken everything from you. Are you really content with staying at the bottom of society?" Nolan looked at Ethan.

He knew Ethan would continue to climb up and start a business to regain his glory.

"Wilson asked me to help you. The Cunningham Family's reputation has been compromised because of Annabelle. I can't directly help you, but the Cunningham Family has given Wilson this opportunity today. As long as you treat Wilson well and stay by her side, it will still be somewhat beneficial for your career." Nolan huffed, warning Ethan not to hurt Wilson's heart.

Otherwise, if Wilson leaves him, the Cunningham Family will rescind their support.

Ethan remained silent. Nolan may speak harshly, but he is actually kind-hearted. Nolan didn't sabotage him and even helped him indirectly.

"Thank you very much." Wilson knew that Nolan genuinely wanted her to be happy and realized that he may not be as bad as he seemed.

"Let's go." Ethan held onto Wilson and pulled her away.

Nolan huffed again, thinking that Ethan was indeed stubborn.

He wondered how long Ethan could hold on.

After leaving the Cunningham Family banquet, Ethan took Wilson back home.

On the way, Ethan received a call from Mitchell.

"May has temporarily passed the critical stage and there is hope for her rescue."

"You announced her death publicly and secretly assisted the police in transferring her," Ethan spoke in a low voice.

"And there's one more explosive piece of information." Mitchell chuckled teasingly. "You'll never guess the relationship between May and William's mistress, Sophia."

"What is their relationship?" Ethan furrowed his brows.

"They're sisters. Sophia and May are actually biological sisters. Sophia seemed eager to distance herself from May, so after she got together with William, she cut off ties with their previous relatives and pretended to be a wealthy person. Unfortunately, she wasn't that clever, and the clues she left behind led me to her."
