Chapter 864 Edgar and Another Woman in the Hotel

"Why?" Nolan asked, not worried about Edgar's safety. If something had really happened, Edward wouldn't be so calm.

"His wife... no, the one he was with before, Avery, got imprisoned because the Hawthorne family had dealings with Kavi, which implicated the Hawthorne family. Avery was dragged into it by her father, Owen," Edward explained.

Nolan walked a few steps with Amelia. "Has she been sentenced?"

"It's still under investigation. Ethan and I helped find a legal team. The lawyer handling her case is someone I trust, and she would get out in about three years."

"Edgar can't wait for three years?" Nolan was curious. Although Edgar used to be quite a playboy, he seemed serious this time.

"Avery got married, to Rhett from the Murray family. Edgar has been acting crazy, getting drunk every day, and recently, we can't even reach him by phone," Edward said, somewhat frustrated.

"Avery is probably afraid of implicating the Cunningham Group, right?" Nolan asked.

Edward was silent for a while before speaking. "Nolan, you've changed a lot. Your wife is really amazing to make you practical and empathetic."

The old Nolan would never consider if others had their reasons when something happened; he would just act on his own. But now, he could immediately sense something was off.

"The Cunningham family has indeed been greatly affected by the Kavi incident. Our reputation has taken a hit. Although Mark's files don't contain evidence against the Cunningham family, many people still don't believe us. We're basically isolated in the circle and struggling in Silverlight City. Avery is indeed afraid of dragging the Cunningham family into this mess. The current public opinion battle is really fierce," Edward sighed.

"Didn't you talk to Edgar about this?" Nolan asked as he walked.

"He doesn't give us a chance. He's drunk every day, almost a wreck."

Nolan sighed too. "Matters of the heart are hard for us to judge or get involved in. Let him be. If he continues to give up on himself like this, then we can only say that Avery was right to leave him."

Edward was silent for a moment. "Nolan, when are you coming home? I found you annoying when you were here, but I miss you now that you're gone."

"We'll see." Brothers were important, but he had to win over his wife first.

Amelia glanced at Nolan. Was he really not going home because of her?

After Nolan hung up the phone, Amelia spoke softly. "Nolan, after we solve the Arabella issue, let's go back to Silverlight City."

"Don't you want to stay here?" Nolan was surprised that Amelia would suggest going back to Silverlight City.

Amelia spoke softly. "You can't just stay with me. You have family too. Time is precious, and you should spend some with them."

Nolan pulled Amelia into his arms. "So, you've forgiven me and plan to live with me?"

Amelia pouted. "No."

Nolan sighed helplessly. "Alright, after we deal with Arabella, we'll go back to Silverlight City."

Silverlight City.

Edgar was drunk again and didn't even know where he slept this time.

When he woke up, he was in a hotel room.

Rubbing his aching temples, Edgar sat up.

There was a woman sleeping beside him.

Edgar's face darkened, and he stood up abruptly, looking at her. "Fuck..."

The woman opened her eyes, rubbed them, and sat up. "You're awake."

"Who are you? Why are you in my room?" Edgar asked, his head throbbing.

"I'm Lyanna. Don't you remember me?" Lyanna said happily, pointing at herself. "You helped me at the bar before."

Edgar took a deep breath and spoke irritably. "Last night..."

Lyanna asked with a smile. "After last night, do you want to be with me?"

Edgar just wanted to curse. He knew nothing had happened last night, but Lyanna showing up in his room was definitely suspicious! He was clearly drinking with his friends last night.

He picked up his phone and called his friend Irvin Hays. "I slept in a hotel last night. Why is there a woman here?"

"How was last night? Lyanna looked pretty and liked you. She's Rhett's sister from the Murray family. Your wife was taken by Rhett, so it's only fair for you to sleep with his sister."

"Are you looking for trouble?" Edgar cursed irritably and smashed his phone.

Lyanna was scared by Edgar's anger and spoke nervously. "Edgar, about us sleeping together last night..."

"I warn you, I didn't touch you last night. If you dare to lie, I..."

"You hugged me last night and called me your wife," Lyanna interrupted Edgar with teary eyes.

"You!" Edgar's chest hurt with anger.

Just as he was about to leave, there was a loud knock on the hotel door.

Soon, the hotel manager came in with some people.

Among them were a grim-faced Cordelia and a displeased Rhett.

Rhett looked at the shirtless Edgar and then at Lyanna, punching Edgar.

Lyanna rushed to protect Edgar. "Rhett, what are you doing?"

Rhett pointed at Lyanna. "Get back!"

Lyanna hid behind Edgar, looking aggrieved.

Edgar wiped his mouth, still full of anger, and kicked Rhett. "Are you looking for trouble?"

Cordelia took a deep breath and had someone hold Edgar down.

"Mom!" Edgar looked at Cordelia with red eyes.

"Mrs. Cunningham, how do you plan to handle this? There are rumors outside, and reporters have photographed Lyanna and your son spending the night at the hotel. You have to give us an explanation. Besides, the Cunningham family's reputation in Silverlight City isn't great right now," Rhett said, leaning against the wall and looking at Cordelia.

He was threatening Cordelia.

"Are you looking for trouble?" Edgar was still impulsive.

Cordelia looked at Edgar and then at Lyanna. "Edgar, you're an adult. You have to take responsibility for your actions."

"Mom, I didn't make love to her. She came to my room herself. Who should I blame?" Edgar said angrily.

Cordelia slapped Edgar. "If you were more mature and didn't get drunk, would anyone be able to get into your bed?"

Edgar was stunned, standing there with clenched fists.

Ultimately, it was his own immaturity and lack of stability.

Edgar looked at Cordelia and finally spoke. "You all think of me this way..."

Avery said this about him, and now Cordelia was saying the same.

"Handle it however you want. It has nothing to do with me. I didn't touch her. Even if she clings to me, I won't take responsibility for her." Edgar looked back at Lyanna. "You better tell the truth."

Lyanna's eyes reddened, and she cried, tightly holding Edgar's arm. "Last night was my first sex. You have to take responsibility."

Edgar's face instantly darkened. "You're talking nonsense!"

Lyanna lowered her head, walked to the bed, and lifted the blanket, revealing red stains.

"You're crazy." Edgar's voice trembled with anger.

He hadn't made love to her at all.
