Chapter 855 Edward Finally Meets His Mother-in-Law

In the hotel, Lisa lay on the bed, looking at her tightly bound legs, and struggled angrily.

Earlier, under Raymond's cover, Lisa was supposed to return to Silverlight City smoothly. However, Lisa was afraid that Raymond would get into trouble if he stayed here, so she secretly ran back from the airport.

She was almost caught by Kavi's people and injured her leg again.

Raymond couldn't do anything about her. Knowing her strong-willed nature, he knew that scolding her would hurt her, so he had the doctor fix her leg and took the opportunity to tie her to the bed.

"Stop struggling," Raymond leaned against the door frame, looking at Lisa with a smile.

"If I had known, I wouldn't have come back. I don't care if you live or die," Lisa said angrily.

"You were crying in my arms earlier," Raymond shrugged.

Raymond was also injured, with his arm in a sling.

Lisa glared at Raymond angrily, propped herself up on her arms, and sat up. "Let me go."

"Daniel has already released the news that the item Mark gave is in his hands. Kavi's people have temporarily relaxed their vigilance against us. In a few days, Steven and Richard will find a way to escort us back to Silverlight City. We can't afford any mistakes these days," Raymond walked to the bedside and rubbed Lisa's head. "However, we can't rule out the possibility that someone as cunning as Kavi will continue to target you, trying to use you to force Daniel to hand over the item."

Lisa knew Raymond meant well and she wasn't really angry, so she snorted and looked out the window arrogantly.

"I'll untie you, but you have to promise me, absolutely no running around," Raymond untied Lisa's restraints and spoke again. "No matter what happens, even if I die, you..."

Before Raymond could finish, Lisa raised her hand in panic and covered his mouth.

Her expression was a bit flustered.

She was now very afraid of hearing the word, death.

After the experience at Aurora Peninsula, death was no longer so distant to her, and she was very scared.

She lived in fear every day.

If she wasn't afraid that something would happen to Raymond, she wouldn't have risked her life to come back.

Raymond was stunned for a moment, looking at Lisa.

Her eyes showed panic.

Raymond took a deep breath and spoke softly, "Are you trying to  murder your husband?"

Lisa's ears turned red, and she quickly removed her hand. "What nonsense are you talking about?"

Raymond raised his hand and pinched the back of Lisa's neck, pulling her back and kissing her.

His breath was hot, with a hint of anxiety and pressure.

Lisa was a bit nervous, but as a divorced woman who had long experienced a sexless marriage, she couldn't resist his teasing and was even more eager than Raymond.

Raymond helplessly pulled Lisa, who was almost clinging to him after just one kiss, away, his voice hoarse. "Don't tease me. The doctor said that if your leg gets injured again, it will be crippled. No sex for now, even if you want it."

Lisa snorted. "What nonsense are you talking about? You're the one who wants it..."

Lisa, being contrary, turned around angrily and lay still on the bed.

"I contacted Richard. I'm going out to discuss some matters and help Ryan from the Willer family find his wife," Raymond said with a smile, kissing Lisa before getting up to leave.

Lisa looked at Raymond nervously, feeling inexplicably uneasy, her eyelids twitching.

A woman's intuition was probably very accurate. She spoke softly, "Raymond, be careful."

Raymond nodded. "Don't worry, I'll be back soon."

Lisa nodded.

"The guy from the Willer family? Ryan? His wife? He is married?" Lisa gossiped while Raymond changed clothes.

"Yeah, his wife didn't listen to him. He said he was going to break her legs and lock her up," Raymond teased Lisa on purpose.

Lisa was unhappy. She was now a woman with broken legs locked up.

Although her legs weren't broken by Raymond, she was locked up by him.

Raymond was amused by Lisa and couldn't help but kiss her again before leaving. "I'll bring you pizza tonight?"

"With durian," Lisa said through gritted teeth.

Because Raymond didn't eat durian and couldn't stand its smell, so Lisa did it on purpose.

Raymond nodded helplessly. "Okay, my dear."

After speaking, Raymond left. At the door, he turned back and reminded Lisa again, "No matter what happens, don't leave the hotel. If you can't reach me, call Richard or Steven. Don't let anyone in for any reason. If someone bangs on the door, notify the hotel front desk immediately."

Lisa nodded.

She had become very obedient now.

Raymond left, satisfied.

Silverlight City

Edward brought Hestia to the hospital.

Hestia was a bit worried, but when she reached the ward, she tried to calm down.

She had conflicts with her mother, Electra Ross, and didn't want to seem too concerned.

Edward looked at Hestia, holding her hand as they walked in.

"Hestia," Saul hurried forward when he saw Hestia. "Mrs. Sharp is fine now. Luckily, she remembered my phone number, or it could have been serious."

Hestia walked to the bedside and looked at Electra. "Mom, how are you feeling?"

Electra was a bit angry. "I told you to get married soon so you could have a stable life. Did you marry someone casually just to anger me?"

Hestia didn't say anything.

Electra continued, "I'm doing this for your own good. Your father passed away early, and I raised you alone. Look at the girl from our neighbor's house. She married a local government official and is living a very good life. But you, with your lofty ambitions, insist on staying in the big city. You randomly marry some poor guy from out of town just to spite me. What will you do in the future?"

"I haven't even seen your husband, and you just got married so hastily. Are you trying to kill me?" Electra was so angry she almost couldn't breathe. "Did you marry an ugly guy to spite me?"

"Didn't you tell me to get married soon? Didn't you say my reputation was ruined since I got dumped, and you couldn't bear the shame back home?" Hestia's eyes reddened, and she felt aggrieved.

Saul glanced at Edward, feeling a bit tense. He was handsome and had an extraordinary demeanor. Could he be Hestia's husband?

Edward stepped forward and put his arm around Hestia's shoulders. "Mrs. Sharp, my name is Edward. I'm Hestia's husband, but I don't think I look like an ugly guy, do I?"

Edward felt a bit awkward.

He had been told he was handsome since he was a child. This was the first time someone called him an ugly guy.

Electra was stunned, looking at Edward, unable to say a word for a long time.

After a while, Electra cautiously looked at Hestia, her voice softening. "Hestia, Is it true that he said?"

Hestia glanced at Edward and introduced him generously. "Mom, yes, this is my husband, Edward. He has no money."

It sounded like she was deliberately trying to anger Electra.
