Chapter 641 Is Jasmine Indifferent for Revenge?

Ben said, "Yeah, Lisa's Mark's kid, but neither she nor Daniel are Howard's."

That pretty much explained why Howard treated Lisa and Daniel like tools, with no love involved.

"Set up a meeting with Lisa. I need to talk to her," Jasmine said, hoping to team up with Lisa but unsure if Lisa would trust her.

Ben replied, "Daniel turned himself in, and Claire's busy trying to save him. Casey got hurt in the accident, so Lisa's been at the hospital with him."

Jasmine's face fell, her eyes downcast.

She'd heard Casey was traumatized and had been in a coma since the accident, waking up now and then just to cry.

Poor kid, going through all that.

"Jasmine." Owen's voice came from behind her, and he walked over with a cane.

Jasmine turned and stood up. "Mr. Hawthorne."

Owen sat across from her and smiled. "I heard about Ethan. How's he doing?"

"He's stable, just needs rest," Jasmine replied calmly. She hadn't told anyone about Ethan's condition because she didn't really know herself.

She was too scared to ask, preferring to stay in the dark.

Owen smiled, like he saw right through her. "Ethan's a genius. I admire him. Without his help, holding so many shares of the Douglas Group might not be a good thing for you."

Jasmine eyed Owen warily. Ethan and Connor had always been cautious around him, so he was definitely not to be underestimated.

"I'll protect what's my husband's. No one's taking it away," Jasmine declared firmly.

She wasn't about to give up Ethan's shares.

"You're still too naive," Owen said casually, but his words were probing.

The Harper family was gone, the Wilson family was under Karen and no threat, the Willer family only had Betty, the Douglas family had lost Howard and Ethan, and the Patrick family was in chaos.

Only his Hawthorne family stood to gain.

Jasmine suspected Owen was behind all the schemes, but she had no proof.

"The elderly are wiser, but young people are also quite capable." Jasmine stood up. "Mr. Hawthorne, I need to go."

Owen smiled at her. "You're in danger and don't even know it. Without Ethan, those shares are like honey to ants—they'll get devoured."

An assistant behind Owen spoke up. "Sir, there's no news about Ethan. Is he really in trouble? Jasmine wouldn't be so calm and confident without him."

Owen squinted, saying nothing.

He wasn't just testing Jasmine's strength; he wanted to know if Ethan was really in trouble and wouldn't come back.

"Ethan's no ordinary guy. The Raymond Group is his. Until we know for sure he's in trouble, we can't move against Jasmine," Owen said seriously.

"Understood!" the assistant nodded.

They needed to dig deeper to see if Ethan was coming back.

In the parking lot, Ben looked at Jasmine. "Owen's trying to figure us out."

"He's checking if Ethan's still alive or if this is all part of Ethan's plan to stay hidden," Connor's voice came from behind.

Jasmine turned to see Connor leaning against her car door. "Owen's wary of Ethan."

"No, actually, ever since Ethan revealed he's the president of the Raymond Group, everyone in San Francisco's been wary of him," Connor added.

"Without knowing if Ethan's really in trouble, Owen won't make a move. That gives you time to get stronger," Connor told Jasmine. "But you can't fall apart. You need to be confident, even arrogant. The more arrogant, the better."

Jasmine had severe depression, and both Deborah and Owen knew it.

If Ethan were really in trouble, Jasmine wouldn't be able to hold on.

But if Jasmine held on and acted arrogantly, then Deborah and Owen wouldn't dare to act rashly.

What if it was really Ethan's setup?

Jasmine got what Connor was saying but stayed cautious. "But you're from the Hawthorne family."

"If I wanted to hurt you, you'd be dead in prison," Connor said sadly. Jasmine could never fully trust him.

Jasmine knew Connor and Owen didn't get along. She preferred to believe Connor was using her to deal with Owen rather than genuinely helping her.

"Is Owen behind all this?" Jasmine asked.

"If you find out that quickly, then they're not the mastermind," Connor shook his head. "Owen's just ambitious. The real schemer is way more sophisticated."

Jasmine frowned. "What do you mean?"

"Too many cooks in the kitchen. What happens?" Connor asked.

Jasmine didn't answer. There'd be chaos, and people would get hurt. In business, no one truly shared interests peacefully.

The business world was limited, and the huge interests and wealth brought out everyone's darkest sides.

In short, Owen was also being used.

Jasmine took a step back and leaned against the car.

The person behind everything was indeed terrifying.

He was too smart.

"Ever heard of the accidental death maker?" Connor wanted Jasmine to be strong. "It looks like an accident, but someone's actually controlling everything."

Jasmine didn't speak but got the gist.

Owen was also being used. The person behind it wanted to use Owen to completely reorganize the San Francisco business circle.

"So, you have to hold on. The Douglas family needs you, the Cunningham family needs you, and Ethan needs you even more," Connor said seriously.

This was also dangerous for Connor. If he succeeded, he could heal Jasmine's shattered soul, allowing her to be reborn from the ashes and become strong and resilient.

If he failed, it would completely destroy Jasmine.

"I know what to do." Jasmine got into the car, her stiff fingers slowly relaxing.

Ben drove away, nodding to Connor as he left.

He could see that Connor genuinely cared about Jasmine's condition.

"Since Lisa's Mark's daughter, let's use that," Jasmine said hoarsely, looking at Ben.

Connor was right; everyone had a dark side.

So did she.

"Lisa's fine, but Casey's just traumatized," Ben hesitated.

"Being born into such a family is his fault," Jasmine said quietly. "Ben, I can't worry about that now. I need to protect the people I care about. I need to find the person who hurt Ethan and make him pay."

Ben glanced at Jasmine, feeling a bit of heartache.

Turning a kind person cold was an extremely cruel process.

"Send someone to the hospital to bring Lisa and Casey. I need to negotiate with Mark," Jasmine said, clenching her fists.
