Chapter 714 Lily and Deborah Face Off

Lily acted quickly.

She was well aware of her low status and lack of background, so she had to grasp Jasmine and Ethan firmly.

Only they could secure her position in the Powell family.

At the café, Lily looked at Deborah. "What do you want?"

Deborah sneered. "Name your price and leave Xavier, or you know the consequences."

Lily's body trembled, and she choked out, "I can't leave him; I'm pregnant with his child."

Deborah's face instantly darkened, and she stood up abruptly. "What did you say?"

Lily lowered her head. "I'm sorry, I'm pregnant with Xavier's child, and he promised to marry me."

Since Deborah had some memories with Xavier, she knew his character well enough to understand that he wouldn't let this child become illegitimate.

Deborah laughed, clenching her hands tightly.

She really couldn't let Lily live.

"Tell me, how much do you want for an abortion and to leave Xavier?" Deborah lowered her voice, not allowing any hidden dangers to exist. "Isn't your goal to get close to the Cunningham family? Why seduce my man?"

"Jasmine said Xavier's the sole heir of the Powell family. If I have his kid, I can inherit everything from them. Your money doesn't interest me," Lily said with a smile, her expression collected.

She deliberately mentioned Jasmine to provoke Deborah into madness.

Deborah had no way out; her only retreat was Xavier. If she knew that even Xavier was no longer an option.

Deborah would definitely go crazy, just like the last time she kidnapped her.

This time, Deborah would want Lily's life.

Lily was risking her life on a gamble.

If she won, she and her child would inherit everything from Xavier.

If she lost, at worst, she would die.

She was betting on Xavier's conscience.

"What did you say?" Deborah was clearly losing control, pointing at Lily and cursing, "Do you think you're worthy? Look at what you are, having slept with so many men. Do you think the Powell family is a place for trash like you?"

Lily smiled. "I don't need their approval, just Xavier's willingness to marry me."

Deborah clenched her fingers in anger.

She thought, 'Lily really couldn't be allowed to stay.'

"Fine, since you're so confident, don't regret it." Deborah left.

Lily had mentioned Jasmine, so she must have already collaborated with Jasmine and Ethan. She was definitely not as simple as she seemed.

The Douglas Group was now severely damaged and would definitely need to cooperate with the Powell family.

Was Lily their person?

Deborah thought, 'No, she has to die.'

Deborah made a phone call. "Get rid of Lily for me this time, directly. Don't worry about the consequences; I'll give you a sum of money afterward and let you leave."

After hanging up, Deborah coldly glanced back at the café.

Lily also watched Deborah. After Deborah left, she called Xavier. "Xavier, the doctor said during the early stages of pregnancy, I need to keep my hormones stable. Can you spend more time with me? Can you take me to that cake shop?"

"I'll leave school at six and take you there," Xavier said indifferently.

Lily responded, ''Okay.''

"I'm marrying you just for the child; don't have any other expectations." Xavier warned Lily.

"Don't worry." Lily's lips curled up.

Deborah got home.

"Recently, Lily has been with Xavier every day; it's hard to make a move."

Deborah frowned. "Their rental apartment, wait until Xavier leaves, then find a way to start a fire. In those old-style apartments, it's hard to escape."

The other person was silent for a moment before answering, "Okay."

Deborah was completely panicked, and her intent to kill Lily was too obvious.

Lily had touched her last nerve, and she was bound to lose control.

And Lily was indeed playing with fire.

Deborah's person had been following Lily all the way. When Xavier left, Lily planned to go upstairs by herself.

The person followed cautiously.

Lily stood behind a wall, waiting for the person to catch up. Leaning against the corner, she spoke in a low voice, "You've been following me for two weeks, haven't you?"

The person hesitated for a moment and pulled down their hat brim.

"While you're investigating me, I'm also investigating you. Deborah wants you to kill me," Lily said calmly. "How much is she offering you?"

The person looked at Lily coldly, ready to make a move.

"No matter what, hiring a hitman to kill someone will get you involved. You might not live to spend the money. It's probably for your family, right?" Lily stated.

These people were usually desperados, not caring about their own lives but wanting money for their families.

"I can pay you more. You still do as Deborah says, kill me as planned. But afterward, you turn yourself in and admit that Deborah hired you to kill me. If you're lucky, you might survive."

Lily held out a card, looking at the person. "You should know if the police investigate, the money Deborah gave your wife will be confiscated, but mine won't be known to anyone."

The person wasn't stupid; HE knew that if HE were caught, it would be hard to keep and launder the money.

But Lily's offer was different.

"Deal." The man was puzzled; was there really someone who wanted a hitman to kill them?

Lily smiled. "Good luck."

At the Douglas Group, Jasmine looked at the senior executives in the meeting, then at Daniel and Bradley, who had returned.

Bradley must have listened to Messiah's instructions to help Daniel and Mark. But why did Messiah want Bradley to help Daniel, who had already been abandoned?

How much more value did Daniel have?

After the meeting, Daniel wanted to talk to Jasmine.

"Jasmine."

"Don't call me that; it's disgusting." Jasmine warned Daniel.

Daniel said nothing.

Bradley wanted to say something, but Jasmine raised her hand to warn him. "You don't speak either; I might not be able to resist hitting you."

Bradley stood there dejectedly, saying nothing.

After Jasmine left, Bradley wanted to leave.

Daniel stopped Bradley. "Why are you helping me?"

"Someone is forcing me to help you," Bradley said.

He wanted to figure out what Messiah was up to. He had finally gained Messiah's trust, but who wanted him to give half of his shares to Daniel?

What more value did Daniel have? He wasn't even a blood relative of the Douglas family.

"I'm a bit confused too," Daniel said in a low voice.

"Your real dad must know; ask him." Bradley warned Daniel. "Mark is your real dad."

Daniel was very unhappy and didn't want to acknowledge having a real dad, but he had to accept it. "He only told me to fight for the Douglas Group but didn't tell me why. With just the shares you gave me, I can't possibly compete with Ethan."
