Chapter 422 Dean was Angry Because of Cordelia

Sophia was naturally furious after being laughed at.

She stood at the door, seething with anger, waiting for Guadalupe to come out.

But he never showed up.

Sophia was getting angrier. How dared a poor person gave her attitude?

"Go get that person out here for me," Sophia demanded, grabbing the waiter at the door and instructing him to bring Guadalupe out.

The waiter hesitated for a moment. "Do you mean Arnold?"

Sophia's face darkened. "Of course not; I mean the bodyguard next to Cordelia."

The waiter looked puzzled but went over to Arnold.

"Sir, that lady wants to see you."

Arnold turned around, his cold eyes fixed on Sophia.

Cordelia frowned and slammed the charity auction paddle on the table. "You're not allowed to go."

"Sorry, I'm not familiar with her," Arnold said with a smile to the waiter.

The waiter returned to Sophia and said, "I'm Sorry. That gentleman said he didn't know you."

Sophia's expression darkened further. Arnold's fear of Cordelia was evident.

His role as her bodyguard seemed to have instilled in him a profound fear of her.

It really showed his lowly nature.

Angrily, she went to the restroom. Sophia adjusted her clothes, wiped her face, reapplied her makeup, and left in a huff.

Cordelia, just you waited.

At the auction, everyone was already prepared.

Cordelia deliberately sat far away from Willian while Arnold stayed close like a personal bodyguard.

Over there, Willian was feeling a bit guilty. He had brought Sophia to the Silverlight City Chamber of Commerce charity auction on a whim.

But since she was already here, there was no changing it now.

He subconsciously cast a glance at Cordelia, seeing her sitting calmly in her chair, showing no emotion.

Willian sneered. After all these years, she was still the same.

Cordelia not only maintained her looks well, but her natural beauty also seemed ageless. Time hadn't left many marks on her face.

Both Cordelia and Evelina had long, slender bodies.

Even after having four children, Cordelia's figure remained as if she had never given birth. Wearing a gown, her body was perfectly outlined.

Willian instinctively looked away and sneered again.

As long as he didn't bring up divorce, Cordelia would always be tied to the Cunningham family.

This was something Cordelia had promised her father back then.

"Willian." Sophia returned, her eyes red.

Willian was still lost in his memories and didn't notice Sophia's tearful voice.

He was reminiscing about the first time he met Cordelia.

Although it was a family-arranged date, he was immediately struck by Cordelia's beauty.

Willian knew that all initial attractions were based on looks, and he admitted that his interest in Cordelia was purely physical.

He didn't agree to the marriage right away, but in his heart, he was no longer opposed to it.

Cordelia was always quiet, never voicing any opinions at home.

Before their wedding, she made it clear: she didn't want money; she wanted a stake in the Cunningham Group post-marriage. At the time, the group was arguably in its darkest hour, the most challenging period in its history.

Cordelia's demand for shares seemed like a crazy decision to others. Shares in a company on the brink of bankruptcy weren't worth much.

But Cordelia was adamant about getting shares and joining the company's management.

The Cunningham Senior admired Cordelia and agreed immediately.

After that, Cordelia married Willian and joined the company.

In less than two years, she pulled the Cunningham Group out of the abyss, essentially bringing it back to life.

Initially, Willian admired Cordelia, but that gradually turned into jealousy, apprehension, resentment, and finally, fear. He feared that she was too capable, making him seem worthless in comparison. He also feared that she would become dissatisfied with her current situation, belittle him, and leave him.

Therefore, he began to get her attention, started causing trouble for Cordelia, treated her poorly, and even deliberately flaunted his affairs in front of her.

At first, he didn't actually have an affair; he just flirted with female employees in the company to see her reaction.

But Cordelia had no feelings for him and calmly told him not to get involved with anyone within the company.

By chance, Willian overheard a conversation between Cordelia and Evelina. Cordelia said she married into the Cunningham family to repay Bill's help, to revive the Cunningham Group, and to bear children for the Cunningham family. As for love, she didn't need it.

She didn't love Willian, and love wasn't everything to her.

In her eyes, romantic love was the least significant thing.

That day, Willian was furious and drank a lot.

He thought about getting back at Cordelia; she shouldn't be indifferent to him.

That night, he met Sophia who was so gentle, pure, and innocent, like a little rabbit.

In Sophia, he found all his fantasies.

His fantasies about Cordelia.

He made Sophia live up to his ideal image of Cordelia.

He and Cordelia had been at odds for over twenty years.

Neither of them had ever admitted defeat.

"Willian?" Seeing that Willian wasn't responding, Sophia's voice became even more tearful.

Willian frowned and snapped back to reality, looking at Sophia. "What's wrong? Stop crying."

"Cordelia just slapped me in front of everyone outside. She's humiliating you," Sophia said, choking up.

Only then did Willian notice Sophia's swollen face.

It was clear that Cordelia had hit her hard.

"That lunatic," Willian said angrily, but he felt a bit of satisfaction inside. Cordelia claimed she didn't care, but if she truly didn't care, she wouldn't have bothered with Sophia.

She was so stubborn.

Willian was angry that Cordelia had been so stubborn for so many years.

If she had learned to admit defeat and appease him earlier, he wouldn't have stayed away from home for so many years.

"Willian, I remember you once said that you caught Cordelia being flirtatious with a bodyguard. Tonight, that bodyguard is very close to Cordelia. They don't look like they have a normal relationship." Sophia began to sow discord.

Willian instinctively looked over at Cordelia.

He had been so focused on looking at Cordelia that he hadn't noticed the man sitting next to her.

His face darkened, and he suddenly stood up. It was him! After all these years, he still dared to come back. He must have a death wish.

"Willian?"

Sophia was stunned, not expecting Willian to be so furious. She called out nervously as Willian walked away, but she couldn't stop him.

Willian was already striding towards Cordelia and Arnold.

Over there, Cordelia had Jasmine sitting to her right, Arnold to her left, Evelina next to Jasmine, and then Edgar, Edward, and Nolan in sequence.

Next to Arnold sat the silent and indifferent Ethan.

Seeing Willian approaching in a rage, Nolan frowned and stood up to block him. "Are you here to stand up for Sophia?"
