Chapter 775 Sita Woke Up and Asked Steven to Save Lisa
Aurora Peninsula.
Lisa had a fever because of biting by poisonous mosquitoes in the jungle, maybe because she was scared.
The high fever wouldn't go away, and she was trembling all over.
She was probably really frightened, trembling under the covers and crying secretly.
She was spoiled and willful, but she had never experienced anything so terrifying.
Sita was hung up by those people, along with that person who was tortured to death, which frightened Lisa.
It was really terrifying.
"Lisa, take the medicine," Mark came in with the medicine, asking Lisa to take it.
Lisa was terrified, curling up in the corner. "Don't come near me."
She had a nightmare, dreaming that Dev hung her up and beat her.
"Lisa, it's my fault, I didn't think it through," Mark sighed, regretting it.
But there was no other way at the time, Lisa cried and said she couldn't live anymore, and he didn't know what to do.
He wasn't really a good father. When Daniel left decisively, he also thought, if he hadn't gotten involved in all this and had taken good care of Lisa and him, would it have been a different result?
Unfortunately, there were no ifs.
"I want to go home," Lisa cried.
Mark nodded. "We'll be home soon, trust me."
She cried, hugging herself tightly, and said nothing more.
Mark put down the medicine and was about to leave.
And she contineud to cry. "Dad, I miss Casey, I want to call him."
Mark was stunned for a moment. "Lisa, you can't make calls here."
She cried even harder.
Mark sighed. "Alright, I'll go ask."
Seeing Mark leave, Lisa stopped crying, nervously clutching the necklace in her hand. There were too many hostages and trafficked girls here, she had to inform the police.
Getting out of bed, shewalked out.
"Heard you're sick? What are you doing out here?" Dev sat on a millstone and asked.
Lisa took a deep breath, suppressing her disgust and fear, and asked, "Is your hand okay?"
Dev frowned, looked at his already bandaged hand, and sneered, "I won't die."
Lisa clenched her fingers. "That's good."
"Are you scared?" Dev asked, holding a cigarette.
Lisa didn't say anything and turned to run away.
Dev laughed mockingly.
From childhood, he navigated a precarious existence alongside his brother Raj, amidst a constant barrage of gunfire, living a life perpetually on the edge.
No one had ever really cared about him.
But that day in the jungle, when he passed out from excessive blood loss, it was Lisa who used her own jacket to re-bandage his wound.
She should have wished for his death, right?
Lisa hid behind the house, cautiously glancing at Dev.
She couldn't let Dev die, the police said Dev was an important criminal.
"What are you doing here?" Lisa tried to sneak a look at how many hostages and trafficked women there were, but before she got close to the house, Dev called out to her.
He was very vigilant, and Lisa was thinking of a way to make him trust her.
"I have a fever," Lisa said weakly. "That person over there said this is the only place to take a bath."
Dev frowned, looking at Lisa warily. "There's no place to take a bath here."
Lisa turned to leave.
"Over there," Dev pointed not far away. "Come with me."
Lisa was a bit afraid of Dev. "Forget it, I'll go back."
Dev laughed. "Are you afraid I'll kill you?"
Lisa gritted her teeth. "I'm afraid you'll do something bad."
Dev snorted disdainfully, looking Lisa up and down. "You? Any woman here is better than you."
Lisa didn't get angry, it was good he didn't have any disgusting thoughts.
"Heat some water, she wants to take a bath," Dev walked to the bathroom and ordered.
A guy, holding a cigarette, said, "Dev, it's so hot, why use hot water?"
Dev paused, glanced at Lisa, and mocked, "From the big city, She was delicate who was from the big city."
Lisa said nothing, lowering her head and entering the bathroom.
There was another woman in the bathroom.
The bathroom here was unisex, making Lisa feel very unsafe.
Dev seemed to notice, sitting at the door. "Go ahead, I'll guard for you."
Lisa frowned, it was Dev she didn't trust, okay?
Dev, realizing it late, warned the guys with a cigarette in his mouth, "She wants to take a bath, stay away."
Lisa had no choice but to go in.
The woman taking a bath was startled, but relaxed seeing it was a woman.
"Don't you have separate bathrooms for men and women? What if a man comes in while you're bathing?" Lisa asked softly, trying to get information.
The woman shrank nervously. "There's no way."
Lisa looked shocked. "So it's mixed bathing? That's so scary. Where are you from?"
The woman glanced at the door and whispered, "Were you tricked into coming here too?"
Lisa took a deep breath. "Were you all tricked into coming here? How many of you are there?"
The woman nervously replied, "Including me, there are sixteen."
"A while ago, a family of three was kidnapped and brought here, do you know about that?" Lisa deliberately made the water louder and asked softly.
The police were here to rescue that family of three, a foreign trade merchant from Silverlight City.
"Those who were kidnapped are in the north area, we haven't seen them." the woman replied.
Lisa nodded.
Yesterday, she had basically figured out the layout here.
To ensure the safety of the hostages, she needed to know their exact location.
Lisa needed to check out the north area, then find a way to get the message out.
"Finished?" Dev asked.
After taking a bath, Lisa felt a bit better and saw Dev still sitting there when she came out.
"You didn't peek, did you?" Lisa asked angrily.
Dev sneered. "What's there to see about you?"
"I have a cold, and I am too weak. I want to go for a run tomorrow morning. If you're worried, you can come with me," Lisa said softly.
"Run?" Dev laughed. "You city folks are crazy?"
"I'm used to it. In Silverlight City, I work out every day. I feel uncomfortable if I don't run," Lisa said cautiously.
Seeing Dev about to refuse, Lisa spoke again. "You don't run? Raj is already so fat. If you get that fat too, it'll be terrible."
Dev exploded instantly. "I am a hot guy with abs."
He even lifted his shirt to show Lisa.
Lisa glanced at him.
"Who said I don't run? Tomorrow morning at six-thirty, get up and run with me," Dev cursed and left.
Lisa breathed a sigh of relief, knowing Dev was competitive.
Tomorrow, she had to find the exact location of the hostages.
Steven's place.
Sita hadn't woken up, having been unconscious for three days.
The drug was strong, if not for timely rescue, she might not have made it.
"Sita?" Seeing Sita wake up, the subordinate shouted excitedly. "Steven, Sita is awake."
Steven walked in, relieved to see her awake. "Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?"
Sita shook her head.
"That's good," Steven nodded.
"By the way, that woman, named Lisa," Sita remembered something and quickly spoke.
