Chapter 251 Annabelle and Cordelia Did Paternity Testing
"I suspect that May is a scammer," Mitchell furrowed his brow. "She must have a channel to sell children."
"What about Serena?" Richard's fingers started to tingle.
"Could it be that the original case was mistaken?" Mitchell suspected that Serena was May's daughter.
"Serena and Benjamin did a paternity test back then," Richard whispered.
"Benjamin threw the paternity test at Wilson," Richard remembered very clearly, he was there that day too.
"Benjamin also did a paternity test with Wilson, and the result showed that she's not his daughter."
This matter seemed to be getting more complicated.
A simple case from five years ago had become more and more complicated.
"Don't make a fuss. If May had her own daughter, she would definitely miss her. Keep an eye on her for now and see if she shows any unusual behavior," Mitchell instructed Richard.
Richard nodded. "Alright."
"Don't let anyone know that you're not her son. I suspect that they may have an even bigger conspiracy,"
Mitchell lightly tapped the tabletop with his fingers. "By the way, you said May gave birth to her daughter at a local hospital in Westing?"
"I remember it very clearly," Richard nodded.
"Westing," Mitchell propped up his head. "Find a way to get Serena's hair strands, and I'll do a paternity test between her and May."
Mitchell suspected that Serena was May's daughter, the child May had when she was Benjamin's mistress in her younger days.
"You suspect..." Richard was too shocked by what he had learned today.
"Benjamin's wife, Karen, is a very jealous woman. She's always wary of Benjamin. How could May have been a nanny for the Wilson Family for so many years? Have you ever thought about that?" Mitchell said calmly.
Richard took a deep breath and suddenly stood up. "I understand now."
"Can I trust you?" Mitchell looked at Richard seriously.
Richard lowered his gaze. "Wilson is my sister, and I will always be Justin's uncle. Even if we're not genetically related, that doesn't change."
Mitchell nodded understandingly.
The Cunningham Family's banquet.
"I can't believe that after all these years, our two families can still gather together," The Harper Family said with a smile at the Cunningham Family’s villa in Silverlight City.
"Yeah, the last time we met was over twenty years ago. Time flies," Cordelia sighed, her eyes filled with sadness.
"Time really does fly. It's been over twenty years since we found Annabelle," Amanda casually remarked.
Cordelia's gaze fell on Annabelle, who sat quietly at the side, her eyes deep and contemplative.
"Annabelle has had a good life with the Harper Family all these years," Cordelia said with a smile. "I really like Annabelle."
"Well, that's good to hear." Amanda also smiled happily.
"You must have heard about our lost daughter. She's my biological daughter," Cordelia said directly.
"Are you implying..." Amanda pretended to be puzzled.
"I want to do a paternity test with Annabelle. Just in case she is my daughter," Cordelia's voice choked up. She couldn't continue her sentence.
"Annabelle, what do you think?" Amanda asked softly.
"Mom." Annabelle's eyes reddened. "I won't be that lucky."
She looked at Cordelia. "Mrs. Cunningham, I really like you. I truly hope you are my biological mother. I would be very happy. I know there aren't that many coincidences in this world."
Annabelle shook her head. "I don't want to make you experience disappointment again."
Cordelia's expression softened. She smiled and said, "Let's give it a try. It might be possible."
"Yeah, you should do a paternity test. What do you think?" Edward walked out of the kitchen, eating an apple.
"Edward, I'll listen to you," Annabelle obediently nodded.
"No matter the result, your bond won't change. Mrs. Cunningham likes you so much, even if you're not her biological daughter, you should still visit her as if you were," Amanda acted well.
Cordelia glanced at Edward.
Edward nodded. "Do you have time today? I've made an appointment with a professional paternity testing agency in Silverlight City. Let's go as soon as possible."
"Okay," Annabelle nodded.
Cordelia breathed a sigh of relief, stood up, and walked to Annabelle, holding her hand. "It would be truly wonderful if you really were my daughter."
Annabelle's eyes welled up with tears.
Paternity testing center.
Annabelle and Thomson waited in the waiting area, looking at each other. Thomson gave her a reassuring look, implying that she should not worry. They had everything arranged.
"Annabelle, don't worry. Whatever the outcome, it is God's will," Cordelia said gently.
Annabelle smiled tenderly in response.
"You two really resemble mother and daughter," a staff member commented with a smile. "There's no way this can go wrong."
Cordelia nodded with a smile. "I hope so."
Not long after, Edward came in with the results and placed them on the table. "Mom, guess what the result is."
Cordelia became somewhat nervous and remained silent. He could tell that she was really anxious. Her daughter had been missing for over twenty years, and Cordelia had always worried about her.
"Tell me," Cordelia urged him after a long silence.
"The results of the paternity test show that you are mother and daughter," Edward revealed.
Capital Hospital.
"Get out! Get out! I won't have the surgery, I won't agree!" Serena was still crying and going crazy. She didn't want to proceed with the surgery at this moment.
"Serena, I'm begging you. Please agree. We have volunteers now. Your surgery can't be delayed any longer," Karen pleaded, hugging Serena tightly.
"Wilson did this on purpose. It's all her fault! She ruined everything for me. She couldn't fulfill the promises she made to me," Serena cried and struggled.
"Serena, no matter what, you can't underestimate your health. Serena…," Karen hugged Serena. "Listen to me, have the surgery first. Take your time to recover. I have a way to deal with Wilson. Ethan won't be showing off for long."
"Mom," Serena cried, hugging Karen. "Why is she still alive?"
Wilson being alive and protected by Ethan was the biggest torment for Serena.
Karen's eyes turned red. "I will help you. I will definitely help you."
"Mom, I beg you, don't let Daniel and I divorce. Please," Serena begged Karen through her tears.
Karen's eyes turned red. "Don't worry, I won't let the Douglas family divorce so easily."
"Don't worry. Rest first, have the surgery. Once you recover, I can get you a better man," Karen comforted Serena, her voice hoarse.
"Mom," Serena cried, hugging Karen tightly.
"Stop crying. Listen to me," Karen patted Serena. "I will go find the doctor now."
As Karen left the hospital room, Serena leaned against the hospital bed.
Outside the room, a janitor sneaked into the room, tears in his eyes as he looked at Serena. "Serena."
