Chapter 499 Ethan Cornered Howard
Ella was taken away, leaving just Jasmine and Samuel.
"You're pretty sharp," Samuel said, raising an eyebrow.
"If she had claimed to be rich from the start, I might not have noticed. But she said she was poor and then forgot about it," Jasmine sighed.
"Doesn't matter, we got it," Samuel smiled.
For Team B, this was a solid start.
It wasn't a huge project, but it was a good beginning.
Samuel drove Jasmine to the company. He said since Team B secured the deal today, no matter the size, it was worth celebrating, so Team B would have a dinner party tonight.
"If it's a dinner party, the whole project department should join, not just Team A and Team B," Jasmine said with a mischievous smile.
Samuel smiled helplessly and ruffled her hair. "What kind of mischief are you always up to?"
Jasmine grinned. She just wanted to show off.
She had every right to brag about securing this hard-won project.
Samuel raised an eyebrow with a smile. "Alright, I'll tell Deborah. Tonight, the whole project department will have dinner together."
Jasmine was thrilled. "Great, the company will treat us."
She was so happy she didn't notice Ethan standing at the company entrance.
Ethan knew they had secured the project and was happy too, wanting to greet her, only to see her jumping around with Samuel.
Why wasn't she this vigorous around him?
"Mr. Douglas."
"Hello, Mr. Douglas."
Colleagues passing by greeted Ethan.
Only then did Jasmine notice Ethan, instantly becoming as obedient as a kitten.
"See you tonight," Jasmine waved to Samuel and ran to Ethan. "Mr. Douglas, what a coincidence. Are you off work?"
Samuel didn't leave but stood there with his hands in his pockets, looking at Ethan.
"Yes," Ethan responded indifferently, signaling Jasmine to go to the back of the company. He would drive over to pick her up and go home together.
Jasmine nodded happily and ran into the company to take the back door.
Ethan frowned and gave Samuel a warning look. "Be polite to your sister-in-law."
"Nowadays, marriage and divorce are common. Ethan, we should compete fairly. I think I'm more suitable for Jasmine," Samuel retorted.
Ethan's face darkened, and he sneered. "Fair competition? Samuel, I won't compete with you for her."
"Ethan, are you afraid of me? Are you lacking confidence?" Samuel said deliberately.
It was obviously intentional.
Ethan ignored Samuel, treating him like a child.
He wasn't much of a threat.
But! Ethan was jealous!
He got into the car with a gloomy face and called Raymond. "Your brother came to LY. Did you know about this? He even bought shares in LY."
"He asked me for money a while ago, saying he wanted to invest in a project and start a business. He asked for a hundred million dollars. Turns out he used my money to support you," Raymond said smugly.
"He didn't use your money to support me; he wants to steal Jasmine," Ethan said sinisterly, with a threatening tone. "It's only because he's your brother, otherwise..."
"Ethan!" Raymond was shocked. "It's a misunderstanding! I'll definitely teach him a lesson tonight."
Raymond knew how terrifying Ethan could be.
Connor was an example!
Connor offended Ethan, and Ethan sent Tom after him.
Now, Connor was almost driven to madness by Tom!
Raymond was fuming. What was that idiot Samuel thinking, provoking Ethan?
He was in for it now.
At the back door of the company, Jasmine snuck around to make sure no one saw her and quickly got into Ethan's car.
"You're my wife, but it feels like we're sneaking around," Ethan snorted.
"We have no choice. If Ella hadn't let her guard down today, I wouldn't have seen through her act," Jasmine said, trying to soothe Ethan. "If she knew I was the CEO's wife, she wouldn't have slipped up."
Ethan chuckled. "Now you're trying to butter me up."
"No, I'm not," Jasmine denied, blushing.
"Let's go home," Ethan said, wiping her head with a wet wipe.
Jasmine was puzzled. "Is there something on my head?"
Ethan said with a smirk, "Yeah, something dirty. No idea what you rubbed against."
Jasmine quickly took the wet wipe and carefully wiped her forehead.
Ethan grinned triumphantly.
"Tonight, our department is having a dinner party," Jasmine said, checking her group chat. Samuel had indeed @Deborah, saying the whole project department would have dinner together. "I'll go home, freshen up, and then head to the dinner."
Jasmine was quite happy.
Ethan, however, was sullen. "Can I join the dinner?"
"No," Jasmine refused. "It's our department's dinner; no family members or senior leaders allowed."
Ethan was even more unhappy.
But seeing Jasmine getting along well with her colleagues and her personality improving, Ethan was also pleased.
Ethan's phone kept vibrating, but he didn't answer.
The caller was Howard.
The Douglas Group and the Sanders family collaborated, but the Sanders family didn't support the Douglas Group much. Raymond took on a major project of the Douglas Group, and Ethan helped Raymond secure the project.
Howard couldn't guess that Raymond was the mastermind behind it, but knowing that Ethan was helping someone attack his own family's business, he was probably furious.
"Jasmine, go up and freshen up. I'll wait for you in the car and take you to the dinner later." Ethan fully supported Jasmine's decisions.
Jasmine happily got out of the car and ran home to change clothes.
In the car, Ethan answered Howard's call with a gloomy face.
"I heard you helped Raymond secure the Willowcrest project. Helping others against your own family, you idiot!" Howard's voice trembled with anger. "Raymond Group has been suppressing us for years; they're our rivals, and you dare to help them! You idiot!"
"Dad, be reasonable. I was kicked out of the house. The Douglas family isn't my family. Besides, the Douglas Group's control over LY is suffocating. You've never truly seen me as your son, right?" Ethan sneered. "Since you want to suppress me, why can't I help the Raymond Group suppress you?"
Howard was almost out of breath with anger. "Ethan! You must think Raymond was truly helping you. He's just using you to fight against us! The person behind Raymond is not simple; he won't truly help you! I targeted LY to make you understand what obedience means!"
Ethan laughed.
Was the person behind Raymond Group so terrifying to Howard?
That was truly an honor.
But now wasn't the time to be most terrifying.
Take it slow.
He was looking forward to Howard's expression when he found out Raymond Group was his creation.
