Chapter 820 Even Blood Brothers Must Settle Accounts Clearly
Blue Garden Club.
Hestia hid in the bathroom, looked at herself in the mirror, took a deep breath, and splashed some cold water on her face.
The supervisor was clearly trying to get her drunk on purpose, hoping she would lose her composure and ruin the event, so he could find an excuse to fire her a qualified employee, prematurely.
"Hestia, are you in there? Come out, the supervisor is waiting for you, don't keep the guests waiting too long." Outside the door, her competitive colleague Primrose Wells called out to Hestia, eager to drag her out.
"I'm in the legal department, why should I be entertaining clients?" Hestia frowned. They had said it was a team-building event before the final assessment, but upon arrival, it turned out to be an event to entertain important clients of the group. If she messed up, she would be fired immediately.
It was clearly a trap set for her.
Fortunately, Hestia had called Edward while she was still sober.
Hopefully, he would arrive soon.
"Hestia, we're just interns, not even official employees. We can't act on our own whims. If the leaders want to assess us, we have to do whatever they ask." Primrose said sternly, with a hint of warning.
"This clause isn't mentioned in the intern contract, after all, we all studied law. You..." Hestia felt a bit dizzy.
"Stop pretending to be noble. So what if you're in the legal department? If they want you to entertain clients, you have to do it. Do you really think you're some kind of princess? If you were marrying the CEO, no one would dare ask you to entertain clients." Primrose sneered and dragged Hestia out.
"Hestia, this is Mr. Hagen from Apex Global Enterprises. Come have a drink with Mr. Hagen, he's a major client of the Cunningham Group." The supervisor's intention was clear, if she offended the major client Mr. Hagen, she would be in serious trouble. No one would be able to save her, and she would be fired immediately without any evaluation.
Hestia frowned and turned to leave.
"Don't go, come on, Hestia looks so innocent, like a college student, such a clean girl." Aubrey Hagen said with a vague meaning, clearly with bad intentions.
He deliberately hugged Hestia, using his drunkenness as an excuse to get handsy.
The supervisor and Primrose exchanged a glance and deliberately left the private room, leaving Aubrey and Hestia alone.
If something happened between Hestia and Aubrey, it would be a handle against her.
Hestia tried to stay clear-headed, grabbed a wine bottle from the table, and smashed it over Aubrey's head, her face turning pale with fright, and she turned and ran.
"Hestia?" In the club corridor, Edward was anxiously looking for her.
"Edward!" Hestia ran out and bumped right into Edward's arms.
She was afraid Edward would be implicated because Apex Global Enterprises was a major client of the Cunningham Group.
Grabbing Edward's hand, Hestia pulled him in a panic and ran outside.
"What happened?" Edward asked nervously, holding Hestia.
"Nothing, I drank too much, let's go home." Hestia was already a bit drunk, her consciousness starting to blur. The wine was clearly spiked.
"Hestia?" Edward worriedly carried her in his arms and quickly walked out.
"Find out who had dinner with Hestia tonight!" Edward said angrily, calling his assistant.
Once in the car, Edward drove straight to the hospital, fearing something might happen to Hestia.
"Saul, you bastard." Hestia cursed drunkenly.
Edward comforted Hestia with one hand, speaking softly. "It's okay, I'm here."
"Saul..." She murmured.
At this point, Edward clearly heard Hestia calling out another man's name.
He had coaxed Hestia into getting a marriage license but they hadn't actually lived together. Hestia stayed in the school dormitory during her internship, and he didn't push it. They are married in name only, without a real relationship.
Edward was afraid of scaring her away by being too hasty, so he never forced it. Now it seemed he needed to establish a real relationship with her.
Otherwise, who knew when she might run away.
And he didn't know who the man Hestia was calling out was.
Overall, this made Edward feel a strong sense of crisis.
Capital Hospital.
Hestia had some alcohol poisoning. The doctor said the wine might have been spiked with some sedative, and she needed to be hospitalized for observation.
Edward's face was grim, and the atmosphere was tense. He had thought Hestia would be safe at the Cunningham Group, but he had overlooked the ill-intentioned people within the company.
Because Hestia was very strong-willed, Edward didn't dare interfere with her work, fearing she would blame him once she found out his identity.
After all, with Hestia's abilities, there should be no problem completing the internship assessment smoothly.
He had been careless.
When the assistant arrived, Edward was sitting by the hospital bed.
Hestia was still asleep, showing no signs of waking up, and Edward was worried.
He went back and forth to the doctor many times, and only after the doctor assured him that tshe was fine, just sedated and asleep, did he finally calm down.
"Mr. Cunningham, tonight's dinner included all the interns from the legal department and the supervisor Callum Bryant. They met with leaders from Apex Global Enterprises. I don't know what they were trying to do." The assistant spoke softly, then nervously added, "Mrs. Cunningham might have hit the other party."
Edward's eyes instantly turned cold.
Even a fool could see what these people were trying to do.
"I understand. Go investigate Callum." Edward said in a deep voice.
The assistant nodded and quickly left.
Sunrise City, Bed and Breakfast.
Edgar entered the room, looking disdainfully at the small single bed and tiny room. "Nolan, you're letting me stay here?"
"Nolan, you're too stingy! Isn't this a bed and breakfast?" Edgar couldn't believe it, the bathroom at his home was bigger than this.
"This is my room, you're lucky to stay here." Nolan warned sternly.
Edgar pouted and spoke again. "I don't want to stay in your room. This is a bed and breakfast, I want the best room."
Seeing Edgar throwing a tantrum, Nolan had no choice but to take him to the ocean-view room in the backyard.
"This room is so comfortable. Although it's not big, it's quite clean, and the sea view is great. Why didn't you bring me here earlier?" Edgar grumbled and was about to flop onto the bed.
Nolan grabbed him. "This is the best room here. If you take it, guests won't have a place to stay. This room is the highlight of our bed and breakfast, with an ocean view for $1400 a night."
Edgar blinked. "What?"
"Go to the front desk and pay. Book as many days as you want to stay, don't think about freeloading." Nolan said coldly.
Edgar was shocked by Nolan's stinginess and reluctantly went to the front desk to pay for a week's stay.
When Amelia arrived, Edgar had just finished paying. "What's going on? Why are you paying?"
"He's staying in the ocean-view room." Nolan said softly.
Amelia was surprised. "Isn't he your brother?"
Nolan whispered in Amelia's ear. "Business is business, he's rich, no reason not to earn it."
Amelia looked at the room rate. During the off-season, the room was half price, $700 a night. Why was he charged the full price?
This was really ripping Edgar off.
"Amelia, Nolan is bullying me, you have to stand up for me." Edgar said pitifully.
Before Amelia could respond, some guests arrived in the yard, self-driving tourists.
An SUV rudely drove in, crushing the flowers Amelia and Nolan had planted in the yard.
"Sorry, no parking in the yard..." Amelia tried to say, but the driver was very arrogant, reversing and smashing Amelia's favorite pot.
Nolan frowned, stepped forward to hold Amelia, protecting her as they retreated, and watched the young people in the car warily.
Were they here to cause trouble?
