Chapter 561 Howard Was Betrayed

At home, Jasmine got a call from Liam. He said Claire went to see Zelda, but Zelda freaked her out.

Jasmine knew Claire wouldn't back down and would definitely go back to see Zelda today.

"Howard needs to know Claire's got some shady motives," Jasmine muttered.

"I found something juicy at the Douglas Group. Claire and Howard's assistants have been hooking up for ages."

Claire had already done Howard dirty.

Jasmine was shocked for a sec but then shrugged it off. Of course, it was Claire; loyalty wasn't her thing.

"Got any proof?" Jasmine asked.

If they threw the evidence in Howard's face, would he be so mad he'd have a heart attack?

"I'm digging for more dirt. What I have now is just the tip of the iceberg. Hang tight," Liam said, sounding all smug.

After hanging up, Jasmine stared at her phone for a while. When Howard found out about Claire's affair and her shady motives, his reaction would be epic.

Jasmine laughed out loud; she had to see it for herself.

In the bedroom, Ethan, wrapped in a towel, leaned against the doorframe with wet hair and grinned at Jasmine. "What's on your mind, babe?"

Jasmine sat up straight and looked at Ethan. "Just heard some gossip. Claire's been cheating on Howard."

Ethan laughed out loud too.

Claire cheating on Howard? No shocker there.

"It's been going on for more than a year or two," Ethan said knowingly.

Jasmine was surprised.

"Then why didn't you spill the beans?" she asked, eyeing Ethan.

"To pull off something big, you gotta play the long game. Why should I tell him now? It's better to drop the bomb when it really counts," Ethan said with a sly grin.

Jasmine walked over, stood on tiptoe, and messed up Ethan's wet hair. "I've got a big surprise for you in the next few days."

"Alright, I'll be waiting," Ethan said, hugging her with one arm, then scooping her up and carrying her into the bedroom with a smile.

Nolan was sitting in his car by a restaurant near Stanford University, fuming, watching Amelia and Nathaniel having a barbecue.

She was still in the mood to have a barbecue with a big star.

Nathaniel didn't have any of that celebrity attitude, wearing a hat and a mask, eating like a regular guy. No one would guess the movie star Nathaniel was right there.

Amelia was chowing down like she hadn't eaten in days.

"Slow down. Eating too much of this will mess up your stomach. Drink some hot water," Nathaniel said, smiling as he poured water for Amelia, looking all caring.

Amelia took the water and gulped it down, then started coughing.

Nathaniel patted her back, looking at her with deep eyes.

To others, Nathaniel might seem like he was just being nice to Amelia, but to Nolan, Nathaniel definitely had an agenda. The way he looked at Amelia was anything but innocent!

Amelia, that clueless girl, didn't even know she was being played.

Nolan couldn't take it anymore. He got out of the car and walked over to them. "Had enough? Come home with me."

Amelia was shocked. What was Nolan doing here?

"Care to join us?" Nathaniel smiled casually, like he was showing off that he was Amelia's new protector.

Nolan snorted, glaring at Amelia. "Come home with me now, or deal with the fallout."

With that, Nolan turned and walked off.

Amelia, realizing the situation, nervously glanced at Nathaniel. "Sorry, I gotta go. I'll come to work early tomorrow. We'll stay in touch."

She got up and bolted.

Nathaniel watched them, feeling uneasy, and decided to follow.

Out of nowhere, Nolan grabbed a random female college student and pointed at Nathaniel. "Isn't he that big star, Nathaniel?"

The girl saw Nathaniel and instantly screamed, "Nathaniel!"

In no time, a swarm of girls surrounded Nathaniel.

And Nolan, with a smug look, took Amelia away.

"What can I do for you?" Amelia asked nervously, looking at Nolan.

"It's late, and you're out here having dinner with some guy by the roadside?" Nolan frowned, grilling her.

Amelia stayed silent, feeling Nolan had no right to question her.

She didn't dare to speak.

Nolan glanced at her. Was she really homeless?

"Did you know Nathaniel before?" Nolan asked, trying to be patient.

"No." Amelia shook her head, then nodded. "Not really. He's a star, and I'm just a fan."

Nolan's face darkened even more.

"Have you been duped? Or are you so desperate now that any guy will do as long as he can help you?" Nolan's tone was harsh.

Amelia's eyes reddened, and her chest tightened.

His words cut deep.

"Answer me!" Nolan shouted when Amelia didn't respond.

"What do you want me to say? Should I just say yes?" Amelia didn't look up, her fingers clenched tightly. "I'm homeless. He offered to take me in and even gave me a job cleaning his house. He's often away for work, so I can stay at his place and save on rent."

She really didn't want much but food and a shelter..

Nolan's grip on the steering wheel loosened for a moment. Even when down, a giant was still a giant, but the Carter family had fallen to this extent?

Nolan looked at Amelia. "Fiona and I are heading to Muskow soon, and no one will be home. The password is 34678217."

Amelia was first surprised that Nolan told her the password, then lowered her head in disappointment.

Nolan was taking Fiona abroad.

Were they going on a trip?

"Nolan, you don't have to be nice to me," Amelia said softly.

She was a greedy person. If she stayed here, she would feel that Nolan was being a little nicer to her.

Nolan was silent, not saying a word.

He was also surprised that he had given her the password. Besides Fiona and Jasmine, he had never voluntarily told anyone, not even Edward and Edgar.

Without saying more, Nolan got out of the car and went straight into the house.

Amelia stood there awkwardly, hesitating for a long time before following him in.

It was so cold outside.

"You'll stay here from now on." Nolan pointed to the guest room and placed a card on the table. "Take this card. There's no limit."

Amelia looked at the card, feeling at a loss.

What was this? Was Nolan trying to keep her as a mistress?

"Go to sleep, and stay away from Nathaniel." Nolan warned, then turned and left.

Rubbing his temples, Nolan felt a bit regretful. He really shouldn't continue to have any contact with Amelia.
