Chapter 84 Justin Said He Didn't Like Dad

Justin paused and looked blankly at Henry, then timidly sought refuge in Jasmine's arms.
Jasmine nervously lowered her head. "Mr. Patrick..."
"It's my fault..." Henry apologized first, realizing he had been careless this time. He hadn't expected Daniel and the Brown family to ask his grandfather for help.
"Come back with me."
Jasmine lowered her head and took a deep breath. "No... I'm not going back."
Henry reached out to hold Jasmine's hand, but she pulled away. He saw a sense of distance in Jasmine's eyes.
"Is it because I didn't protect you or because I didn't agree to call off the engagement with Zelda?" Henry asked in a deep voice.
Jasmine kept her head down, saying nothing.
In reality, Henry knew everything.
It was just that she wasn't important enough.
"Mom..." Justin hugged Jasmine, whispering softly. "Who is he?"
Tears welled up in Jasmine's eyes as she cautiously looked at Henry.
She wasn't sure if Henry would be willing to acknowledge Justin.
"Justin, I'm your dad." Henry knelt in front of Justin, softly extending his hand. "I'm sorry for being late."
In his view, Jasmine might just be upset with him temporarily; he thought a little coaxing would suffice.
A man like Ethan, who was a serious clean freak, wouldn't be interested in Jasmine.
Justin looked at Jasmine in panic, his eyes reddening.
He had imagined countless times that his dad would suddenly appear one day and say to him, "Justin, I'm your dad."
But when Henry appeared and apologized for being late, Justin felt like crying.
"I don't like Dad." Justin averted his gaze, holding onto Jasmine tightly.
Because Dad hadn't protected Mom.
Henry took a deep breath and looked at Jasmine. "Come with me for now."
Jasmine lowered her head, picked up Justin, and then shook her head. "No need, Mr. Patrick."
She was drawing a line with Henry.
Henry felt a tightness in his chest as he watched Jasmine leave with the child.
Rubbing his forehead, Henry cursed the Brown family silently and quickly caught up with them.
He had finally managed to get her to stay by his side willingly, and now these bastards had ruined it all.
"Jasmine, I'll drive you." Henry caught up and tried to hold Justin. "Mom is tired, let Dad carry you, okay?"
Justin hesitated for a moment and whispered, "Can you protect Mom?"
Henry paused and looked into the little one's eyes.
The child's eyes resembled the old Jasmine. He was innocent and pure, untouched by the ways of the world.
"Yes," Henry nodded.
This time, it was an accident.
He wouldn't make the same mistake again.
"Will you marry Mom?" Justin sniffled softly.
Henry hesitated for a moment, remaining silent.
Jasmine hugged Justin tightly and hurriedly explained, "He's just a child. He doesn't understand."
"I do. Casey said no man would marry Mom, that Mom is a thief who steals other people's dads, but it's not true! Someone will marry Mom!" Justin cried out in distress, refusing to believe what Casey said was true.
That was why he got into a fight with Casey.
In fact, when Casey was bullying him, he had refrained from fighting back, fearing he would cause trouble for Uncle and Mom.
But when Casey spoke ill of Mom, he lost control.
Henry stood still while rubbing his forehead.
He couldn't marry Jasmine...
Apart from that title, he could give Jasmine everything.
Jasmine glanced back at Henry, not sure what she was expecting. Perhaps she had indulged in that fleeting fantasy, wanting to give Justin a complete family.
But she knew very well that Henry wouldn't marry her; it was all just wishful thinking.
Without saying a word, Jasmine stood alone with Justin at the bus stop, waiting for the bus.
Henry walked beside Jasmine, wanting to say something, but each time he tried to speak, the words got caught in his throat.
The bus arrived, Jasmine got on, and Henry followed.
In Henry's memory, he had never taken a bus before.
The bus was somewhat crowded, and Henry, fearing Jasmine would tire from holding the child, offered to hold Justin himself.
Not wanting Mom to be tired, Justin reached out to Henry.
Jasmine hesitated for a moment, then handed Justin over to Henry.
As the bus braked suddenly, Jasmine, unsteady on her feet, almost stumbled, but Henry caught her.
"Dear, come sit here with the child. Your little family looks so lovely," an elderly lady on the bus smiled and gestured for Jasmine to take a seat.
"No... no need, ma’am," Jasmine waved her hand.
The ma’am chuckled. "Youth is wonderful. Your child is so adorable."
Without explanation, Henry politely smiled while holding Justin.
Jasmine lowered her head and softly explained, "We're not a family unit..."
Marriage, giving Justin a complete family—these were things Jasmine didn't dare to think about.
Her reputation was already ruined; no one would be willing to marry her.
And certainly, no one would willingly step into the role of a father for Justin.
She didn't want to casually find someone and make Justin suffer.
Even though she knew it was unrealistic, she had once thought that, even if Henry had no feelings for her, if he was willing to give Justin a complete family, she would do anything for him.
But now, she no longer hoped for so-called love.
She wouldn't love anyone else again, and no one would love her.
The lady said nothing else and got off at the next stop.
Jasmine glanced at Ben, who was driving and chasing the bus, and helplessly spoke, "Mr. Patrick, there's no need for this..."
What was this? Was this a case of a wealthy individual trying to experience life?
"If you don't want to come back to Boston with me, then stay in Silverlight City. I'll make arrangements. I'll spend half a month with you and the child in Silverlight City every month. You can contact me or Ben anytime you need anything."
Henry spoke softly, and when Jasmine reached her stop, he got off the bus with Justin in his arms. "This is the key card for Imperial Garden Villas. You and Justin will live here. Take the card I gave you as well."
Jasmine looked at the card.
He was indeed very generous.
If Henry didn't have a fiancée, maybe she would really degrade herself to becoming Henry’s kept woman.
"Henry, I've said, I won't be a third party to someone’s marriage. It's a matter of principle." Jasmine shook her head and reached out to take Justin, "Mr. Patrick, we need to catch the subway. You should head back."
"Jasmine!" Henry was getting a bit frustrated. "Do you have to be so stubborn, so rigid in your thinking? I said I would give you everything I can."
"What if I say, I want to be official. To be a proper family and give Justin a complete home. Would you marry me then?" Jasmine turned around and looked at Henry.
Henry clenched his fists, frowned, and stood still. "Jasmine... I told you not to be too greedy."
Jasmine smiled and walked away.
Yes, she was too greedy.
Six years ago, who ignored her pleas and forced himself on her?
Who ruined her? Who gave her Justin?
While looking up at the sky, Jasmine tried hard to hold back her tears.
These grievances, what were they.
They were nothing.
"Jasmine!" Henry unwillingly chased after her, but the subway station was too crowded.
Jasmine, holding Justin, had already disappeared into the crowd.
For someone like Henry who had never experienced subways and buses, he had no idea where to start and couldn't find Jasmine and Justin.
