Chapter 649 How Heartbroken Ethan Must be

When Jasmine showed up at the Douglas family home, Claire was lounging on the sofa with a face mask on.

Claire was all about those beauty treatments, and rumor had it she dropped millions on her face every year.

"Howard dumped you, and you're still crashing here? Do you even have any right to be in this house?" Tom and Ben shoved the servants aside, and Jasmine strolled right into the living room.

Claire's expression shifted, and she peeled off the mask. "Jasmine, have you lost it? What are you doing in my house?"

"Your house?" Jasmine chuckled and tossed some copies of the property contract and deed on the table. "This place was a wedding gift from Ethan's mom. The deed is in her name. Now that Howard's gone, ain't you scared living in a house that's hers?"

Claire was taken aback and glanced around nervously. "What nonsense are you spouting?"

Jasmine plopped down on the sofa and grinned. "Didn't his mom die in the master bedroom? You must have some nerve. Don't you feel spooked at night?"

Claire's face went pale. "Quit yapping and scram, or I'll dial 911!"

"No need, they're here," Jasmine said as the police walked in.

"Claire, you're suspected of bribing others to take the fall, fabricating evidence to frame people, and it's serious. Come with us."

Claire stared at Jasmine in shock. "Jasmine! You called the cops? Got any proof? Who's dragging me off without evidence?"

"Of course, I have proof," Jasmine said, smiling as she pulled out a video. "This is you bribing that little maid with cash, all recorded by Karen."

"Karen sold you out to save herself," Jasmine added coldly.

These people were turning on each other.

Claire glared at Jasmine, furious. "You bitch, and that bitch Karen! Think you'll win by sending me in? I'll be out soon."

Claire spoke with confidence.

Even if the evidence was solid, she wasn't scared. She had the best legal team.

"Oh, just so you know, your lawyer Jared got his license taken away and booted from the firm for some personal stuff," Jasmine said, smiling as she crushed Claire's hopes bit by bit.

Just like Claire and Karen had crushed her hopes, she was now returning the favor.

"Jasmine!" Claire screamed, losing it.

Jasmine stepped closer and smiled. "The cops are here, so I won't hit you. But once you're locked up, trust me, there'll be plenty who won't appreciate that pretty face of yours. They'll take care of you for me. And I'll make sure someone looks after you in there. Let's see if you make it out alive."

Claire panicked and struggled in fear. "Jasmine, you bitch, you bitch. You're not getting away with this!"

Jasmine looked at Claire coldly. "I want you to feel every bit of the pain I endured, but a hundred times worse, to satisfy my rage."

Why should she be forgiving? Why should she swallow all the grievances?

When she had no power, she could endure, but now, why should she?

"Jasmine, there's no deep hatred between us, right? Jasmine, I used to treat you well. Let me go this time, and I promise to change." Claire, always one to adapt, suddenly begged Jasmine.

She knew Jasmine had a soft heart.

In the past, Jasmine might have been swayed by begging, but not now.

All her kindness had vanished with Ethan.

"People are bad at heart. Conscience is like a talent; you either have it or you don't. And you, Claire, will never have it," Jasmine said with a cold smile, stepping back and letting the police take Claire away.

Claire started throwing a fit and struggling.

By the time Mark got the news and showed up, she was already in the police car.

"Mark, you gotta help me out! That nutjob is trying to throw me in jail. I don't want to go to jai" Claire cried, begging Mark to save her.

Mark's face was already grim as he looked at Claire. "Don't worry. I'll get you out quickly."

Claire finally breathed a sigh of relief and sat calmly in the police car, regaining her usual composure.

Jasmine looked at Mark and smiled. Did he have a plan? He probably thought the charges were too light. No problem, she'd find evidence that Claire killed Ethan as fast as possible. Since Claire was in, she shouldn't expect to come out alive.

"Jasmine, what do you want?" Mark asked coldly as Claire was taken away.

Jasmine sat on the living room sofa, ignoring Mark, and spoke to Tom, "I don't like this sofa. Throw it away."

"Got it," Tom nodded, silently calculating that it would be a waste to throw it away; selling it second-hand would still fetch a good price.

So, Tom gave Ben a look. "Let's split it."

Ben coughed helplessly, signaling him to be serious.

"I don't like this decor. Tear it all down and redecorate," Jasmine said calmly, looking at Larry and the maid. "Starting now, you're fired. You can leave."

The servants didn't dare stay any longer and quickly left.

"Jasmine!" Mark's anger grew. "Even if Claire goes in, this is still Claire and Howard's joint property."

"You're wrong. This is my husband's house. I'll do whatever I want with it," Jasmine said coldly. "Does Claire want to fight? As Howard's assistant, have you forgotten about their prenup and property notarization?"

Mark was stunned; he had indeed become complacent.

Now that Claire was in jail, it would be at least a few years before she got out, and he couldn't wait.

Daniel had also turned himself in, and all the charges combined would keep him in for at least two or three years.

The only leverage Mark had left was Lisa.

But unfortunately, Lisa was in Jasmine's hands.

Jasmine was pushing him to the brink.

Just then, Mark's phone rang.

"Mark, it's Lisa. Where's my mom? Tell her to save me!" Lisa's sharp cries came from the other end of the phone. "Mom, save me. Jasmine is crazy!"

Lisa's acting was good, and Mark was already panicking. "Lisa."

After hanging up, Mark looked at Jasmine with a trembling voice. "What do you want?"

"Tell me, who is behind this plot against the Douglas family that began over twenty years ago?" Jasmine asked directly, revealing her purpose.

Mark gritted his teeth and slammed the table, looking at Jasmine. "Knowing won't do you any good."

Jasmine picked up the fruit knife on the table and stabbed it into Mark's hand without blinking, pressing it hard against the table.

Mark gritted his teeth, his face contorted, sweat instantly beading on his forehead, and the pain made his facial muscles twitch.

"You destroyed my only light. You should be the ones afraid." Jasmine warned coldly, word by word.

Her eyes were so cold, colder than they ever were with Ethan. Ben's heart ached, and he looked away. Even though Jasmine was the one acting, the pain he felt was so deep he couldn't breathe. If Ethan were here, he'd be heartbroken to see her like this.

"Fine. I'll tell you," Mark said through gritted teeth, trembling.
