Chapter 637 Amelia Hated Nolan to Death
"What's that supposed to mean?" Jasmine shot a look at Emily.
"He's targeted at you," Emily said, fiddling with a lighter. "They think I'm greedy and gullible, so they try to use me to get to you."
Jasmine took a deep breath, her eyes still on Emily. "Deborah's doing?"
"Deborah's ruthless. Ethan's in hot water, and now all eyes are on you. People are just waiting for you to slip up. Be careful," Emily warned, knowing she wasn't the only target.
Anyone close to Jasmine who might know any secrets was fair game for Deborah.
Jasmine plopped down on the couch, a smirk forming on her lips. "So, we give her a taste of her own medicine."
Emily met Jasmine's gaze, and they shared a knowing smile. No words were needed; they both knew what had to be done.
Deborah was desperate for that new energy investment, but Jasmine was set on making her lose her grip on the circle.
"Two months until the bet agreement expires. Can you handle it?" Jasmine asked Emily.
"With my skills? Two months is overkill. I could run out of his money in two days," Emily said with a smirk, shaking her bag. "I told you in prison, you're my good luck charm. Look, this guy's practically throwing money at me."
Jasmine sighed. "Just be careful."
"Don't worry, I got this," Emily said, patting Jasmine's shoulder before heading out.
The real game was just starting. Deborah might be confident, but Jasmine was determined to make her fall hard.
At Capital Hospital, Nathaniel sat by the bed with a lunchbox. "I told you to stay put. You're bleeding again. Next time, the doctor will be pissed."
Amelia looked guilty, clutching the blanket.
"Where were you trying to go?" Nathaniel asked, opening the lunchbox and offering her a bite.
"I just wanted some fresh air," Amelia said softly, reaching for the lunchbox.
Nathaniel handed it to her. "Eat it up and don't think about sneaking away, or I'll feed you."
Amelia took a few bites, even though she wasn't hungry. With Nathaniel watching, she had no choice.
"Nathaniel," Amelia said, looking up at him.
"Yeah?" Nathaniel replied.
"Why are you so good to me? My dad wasn't exactly nice to you," Amelia asked.
Nolan had said Nathaniel had an agenda, that he was just using her. But if all this kindness was a lie, she'd rather be deceived.
"You and Lawrence are different. You were kind to me," Nathaniel said, peeling an orange for her. "When I first started in the entertainment industry, I was just a rookie trying to get signed with your dad's company. I couldn't afford to miss the chance, so I waited for him on his way home. You were in the car that day, just a teenager, right?"
Nathaniel looked at Amelia.
He was six years older than her, only twenty-two back then.
"You spoke up for me, said I looked like I'd make it as a star. That's when your dad finally noticed me," Nathaniel smiled at her.
No matter what Lawrence did later, Nathaniel stuck with the company to survive, and Amelia had vouched for him.
He'd never forget her pure, innocent smile.
Over the years in the entertainment industry, he missed that smile more and more. No one was as pure as Amelia used to be.
"This industry is a mess. Your dad pissed off the wrong person and got exposed. There are way worse people out there who haven't been caught, and there's nothing we can do about it," Nathaniel said, looking seriously at Amelia. "I want out. I've made enough money. I want to further my studies and become a director. Would you come with me?"
If he couldn't handle people like Nolan, he figured it was time to bail.
Amelia was stunned, staring at Nathaniel.
Amelia thought, 'Escape? Leave San Francisco and head to Muskow?'
When she thought about it, there wasn't much keeping her in San Francisco.
"You don't have to decide now. Take your time," Nathaniel said, not pushing her.
Amelia nodded. "I'll think about it. Thanks."
Nathaniel checked the time, stood up, and looked at her. "Rest up and listen to the doctor. I'll be back later."
Amelia nodded, seriously mulling over Nathaniel's offer.
Should she leave? Yeah, maybe she should.
"Amelia." As soon as Nathaniel left, Nolan walked in, looking urgent, his chest heaving.
Amelia was caught off guard, not expecting Nolan.
"I'm sorry about your dad. I didn't mean what I said that day," Nolan tried to explain.
Amelia was surprised he even bothered. She didn't think she deserved an explanation. "My dad's gone. Can we call it even for what he owed Fiona?"
Nolan was silent, watching Amelia sit there calmly, feeling a bit panicked.
"Let's call it quits. I don't owe you anything anymore. Let's not see each other again. Thanks." Amelia wanted Nolan to leave.
Nolan clenched his fists and took a step forward. "Whose child was it?"
Amelia felt a sharp pain in her stomach. Just thinking about the child hurt so much.
She had lost the baby and almost lost her uterus. Now, it was scarred, and she'd never have kids again.
Clenching her fists, Amelia looked up at Nolan. "The child is gone. It doesn't matter whose it was. Schrödinger's cat is neither alive nor dead until you open the box. As long as you believe the child wasn't yours, then it wasn't."
Nolan was stunned, not expecting that.
Her eyes were filled with hatred.
Of course, how could she not hate him?
That was her child. What right did Nolan have to make her abort it?
She had paid too much to abort that child.
"Nolan, you can leave now." Amelia's voice trembled.
Nolan stood there, already believing the child was his.
Even if he knew the child was his, he would still have made Amelia abort it.
"Get out." Seeing Nolan not leaving, Amelia cried.
Did he really think she had no temper?
Nolan didn't speak. After a long time, he finally said, "If you need anything, you can ask me."
If he could fulfill it, he would.
"I want you to get out and never show up in front of me again. Get out!" Amelia, emotionally agitated, threw things at him from the table. The IV needle was pulled out, and blood dripped from her fingertips.
Probably too agitated, her stomach started bleeding again, and her vision went black.
The doctor rushed in, panicking and pressing down on Amelia. "Do you want to die? Don't get agitated!"
Then the doctor yelled at Nolan. "She's lost half her life and can't have children anymore. Why are you still provoking her? She's so young."
Nolan stood there, feeling like a bucket of ice water had been dumped over him.
Couldn't have children?
