Chapter 403 Did Howard Have a Sudden Heart Attack and Almost Die
"Is he dead?" Ethan asked without much emotion,
The question took Lisa aback. "Not yet. My mom said it was a sudden heart attack, and he might need a stent surgery. It's quite serious."
"He won't die. Let me know when he does." Ethan glanced at the time. "The kids at home are still young and need my care. You'll have to take care of Howard more. After all, he didn't raise me for many days, but he did put a lot of effort into you."
Lisa opened her mouth, lowered her head, and said nothing.
She actually knew in her heart that her mother was a mistress, and she and Daniel were both born out of wedlock. Their current life was taken from Ethan.
Ethan was raised by his mother and grandfather. Howard didn't raise him for many days, so their father-son relationship was thin, mixed with resentment.
She didn't force Ethan anymore. Lisa just unwillingly glared at Annabelle. "Stop looking. You're Daniel's wife. I advise you not to have any wild thoughts!"
Annabelle's eyes were fixed on Ethan as he left, her gaze too blatant.
Naturally, she was unwilling to accept that Ethan didn't think much of her.
"You have no right to talk to me. As a woman, you're even more of a failure than I am," Annabelle said sarcastically to Lisa, "Today is Howard's birthday, and Jordan hasn't shown up yet."
Lisa's steps paused, and she turned to look at Annabelle. "Do you want to argue?"
"I don't want to argue with you. It's not worth it." Annabelle adjusted her clothes and hair, no longer looking as innocent as before, as if she had made up her mind to become more seductive.
Lisa's face looked terrible. After Annabelle left, she called Jordan with red-rimmed eyes.
Today was Howard's birthday, and so many things had happened, yet he still hadn't shown up!
Because the Douglas Group had been heavily suppressed by Raymond recently, the Taylor family had started to disregard her.
Jordan still didn't answer the phone.
Lisa's emotions were on the verge of collapse.
In all these years of marriage, she had curbed all her temper, obediently staying at home as the Taylor family's daughter-in-law. She listened to Jordan, so what more did they want from her?
Because this marriage was schemed, she had always been treated this way.
Suddenly overwhelmed with sadness, Lisa didn't understand why she broke down. She huddled in the yard, tears streaming. "Hello?" Finally, Jordan answered the phone, but it was a woman speaking. "Who are you? You keep calling and disturbing my rest."
"Where's Jordan?" Lisa asked through gritted teeth,
"He is drunk. Do you need something?" The other woman said arrogantly,
"Get him to the Capital Hospital immediately!" Lisa shouted into the phone.
This should be considered punishment. Her mother was a mistress, a punishment for destroying someone else's family.
To maintain her marriage, she even tolerated Jordan's affairs with other women.
"Are you his wife?" the woman on the other end asked timidly, then whispered, "No one would save their wife's number as 'bitch.'"
Lisa's fingers went numb. "What did you say?"
She never checked Jordan's phone, but sometimes, in a fit of madness, she would look. She didn't know Jordan hated her this much.
Jordan had saved her contact as 'bitch.'
"We're nothing; we're at the Starlink Club. Do you want to come get him? He's had quite a bit to drink," the woman explained,
Everyone knew Jordan's wife was the daughter of the Douglas family, so they were somewhat intimidated. After all, the Douglas family hadn't gone bankrupt yet.
Lisa took a deep breath, got up, and got into the car. "I'm coming over right now!"
She just wanted to talk to Jordan; he shouldn't treat her this way.
Today, Howard was in the hospital, and before the surgery, Jordan had to be there for his family's benefit.
Howard already had many issues with Jordan. Although he didn't agree with a divorce that would tarnish the Douglas family's reputation, Howard would verbally pressure Jordan.
Jordan's status in the Douglas family was indeed very low over the years, so she treated him well at home.
But it never earned his approval.
Starlink Club.
Jordan was drunk and looked in a bad mood.
"Drink, keep drinking," Jordan frowned, urging his friends to continue.
"Jordan, what's wrong with you today? I heard today is Howard's birthday, the chairman of the Douglas Group. It's not good that you're not there."
"If he gets mad, he'll make Lisa divorce me!" For years, Jordan had treated Lisa poorly, hoping she would divorce him.
But Lisa just wouldn't divorce him.
"Jordan, Lisa treats you well; she's pretty, and she listens to you. She likes you. Don't go too far," someone whispered,
"Then you can have her. I can't stand her for a single day." Jordan vented his emotions in his drunken state, pulling the woman next to him into his arms.
"I feel disgusted even touching her," Jordan said coldly,
At the door, Lisa walked in just in time to hear Jordan's words.
A few friends saw Lisa and stood up in fear. "Lisa... Jordan's had too much to drink."
Lisa took a deep breath and looked at Jordan.
"My dad is sick. Come with me to the hospital," Lisa said, trying to suppress her emotions.
"That's your dad, not mine." Jordan continued drinking.
Seeing the situation was bad, the friends exchanged glances and left.
The woman with Jordan was nervous and wanted to leave, but Jordan held her. "Where are you going?"
In front of Lisa, Jordan tried to kiss the woman.
Lisa looked away, clenching her fists. "If you won't go, then go home. Casey is home alone; the nanny is off today."
While Lisa fretted over Casey, Jordan remained indifferent.
He didn't care about Lisa's feelings, nor did he care about their son, Casey.
"Mr. Taylor," the woman said, frightened.
Lisa took a card from her bag and threw it to the woman. "My treat; you all can leave."
The women quickly stood up, pushed Jordan away, and ran.
Jordan, drunk, leaned back on the sofa with his eyes closed.
Lisa just stood there looking at him, her heart aching.
It was probably really her fault.
"I'll take you home." Lisa advanced to lend Jordan support.
However, Jordan rejected her help, brushing off her hand and collapsing ungracefully onto the sofa.
"Jasmine..."
He was calling Jasmine's name.
Lisa's hand froze for a moment, her eyes burning with pain.
"Jasmine..." Jordan called again.
Lisa let out a sarcastic laugh.
Since school, Jordan had liked Jasmine. He really was a dedicated person, never forgetting Jasmine all these years.
The phone rang; it was the housekeeper calling. "Mrs. Taylor! I came back to check on Casey, but no one was home! Casey is missing!"
Lisa's heart skipped a beat, and she cried out to Jordan. "Jordan! Wake up, Casey is missing!"
Jordan frowned, lying motionless.
At that moment, Lisa felt despair. "Find him quickly; we must find Casey!"
At Ethan's place.
Casey's feet were dirty, and he was barefoot. He was hugging a doll and sitting curled up at the door.
He had rang the doorbell, but it seemed Justin wasn't home.
Sniffling, Casey muttered softly, "Casey is not afraid. Casey is a man, and Justin will come back. Casey is not afraid."
