Chapter 658 Jasmine Discovers the Computer is Hacked

Nolan was in the middle of a meeting at The Cunningham Group when his phone started buzzing like crazy with a bunch of text messages. The execs all turned to look at him, surprised.

Nolan set down the project materials he was holding and checked his phone. They were all transaction notifications.

Nolan raised his hand, clenched his fist, and coughed awkwardly. They were all Amelia's purchase records. She had bought a ton of gold jewelry and gold bars.

She was buying stuff that could be quickly sold off and held its value. Was Amelia planning to make a run for it?

Nolan squinted his eyes and put his phone down. She was getting smarter, but she shouldn't get too smart. Her intentions were way too obvious.

"Mr. Cunningham?" Elijah asked softly.

Nolan snapped back to reality and looked at the execs. "Continue."

Outside the pawnshop, Amelia hesitated for a long time, holding Nolan's card, before finally mustering the courage to walk in and redeem her necklace that Lucas had sold.

Using Nolan's money felt a bit wrong, but Nolan had been wrong first, so she didn't need to feel guilty. Gritting her teeth, Amelia nodded firmly. Yes, spent his money! Made him hate her even more so she could leave sooner. No time to waste.

"Ma'am, what can I help you with?" someone at the counter greeted her.

"This is the pawn ticket from before. My brother sold a necklace. Is it still here? I want to buy it back."

The clerk paused, took the ticket, and glanced at it. "Such valuable jewelry is kept in the vault. I need to check with our manager."

Amelia nodded and stood there nervously. She hoped no one had bought the necklace.

The clerk went to the office to check, and soon the manager came out with her.

"That necklace has already been sold," the manager said apologetically. "Is there anything else you might like?"

Amelia was stunned, and in that instant, her eyes turned red.

It was sold. That was the only thing her grandmother had left her.

She had grown up with her grandmother, who was the only one who treated her well. That necklace was important to her grandmother; hence, to her too.

Seeing Amelia cry, the manager panicked and tried to comfort her. "Ma'am, don't cry. Is there anything we can help you with?"

Amelia's eyes were red as she spoke softly, "Can you tell me who bought the necklace?"

The manager and the clerk exchanged a glance. "Sorry, we can't disclose customer information."

"Please, that necklace is very important to me. Can you check for me?" Amelia pleaded nervously.

The manager looked troubled. "This..."

"Please," Amelia begged, looking at the manager.

The manager thought for a moment. "I'll check, but I can't guarantee the buyer will sell the necklace. You understand, right?"

Amelia quickly nodded. "I understand. As long as they're willing to sell, I'll agree to any price."

The manager, being a kind person, nodded. "Alright, wait here. I'll make a call."

The manager clearly knew who had bought the necklace. In fact, for such valuable jewelry, they had regular customers; only a few people had the purchasing power for it.

Soon, the manager came back, looking apologetically at Amelia. "Sorry, I contacted the buyer, but she's not willing to part with the necklace. She doesn't need the money."

Amelia lowered her head, feeling disappointed. "Thank you."

Maybe it was just meant to be that she'd lose that necklace.

Jasmine stormed into LY, and everyone nervously stepped back.

"She looks like she's ready to kill someone."

"Yeah, I've never seen her like this before. It's terrifying."

A few employees whispered, not knowing why Jasmine suddenly seemed like a different person.

Jasmine knew Ethan was seriously injured. She was both heartbroken and angry, with her anger and hatred driving her forward. She had promised Ethan she would wait for him, and she would keep that promise.

"Ma'am, tomorrow is the initial bidding for the new energy project. Do you want to review the project plan for any improvements?" Ben asked as he walked into the office.

Jasmine nodded, opened her laptop to review the plan, and found that her computer had been tampered with.

"Who touched my computer?" Jasmine asked, looking up.

"Besides you, no one can enter the office freely," Ben said, glancing around. He, Tom, Jasmine, and Samuel had access, but no one else could get in without permission.

Jasmine sighed, pressing her fingers to her temples to stave off the brewing headache. "Call Tom in," she instructed, her tone brooking no argument.

Ben nodded and stepped out to find Tom. Moments later, Tom walked in, his face a mask of confusion and mild trepidation.

Jasmine wasted no time, her patience wearing thin. "Did you touch my computer?" she asked, her eyes boring into his.

Tom's initial denial was swift but unconvincing. "No, I didn't."

Jasmine wasn't buying it. Her gaze hardened, and she leaned forward, her voice dropping to a stern whisper. "I'll give you one more chance. Did you touch my computer?"

Tom, visibly unnerved by her intensity, scratched the back of his head, his voice lowering to a near mumble. "I did. But I didn't know the password."

Jasmine's hand came down on the table with a sharp slap, making Tom flinch. "Who told you to touch my computer?" she demanded.

Tom's confession spilled out in a rush. "Beth asked me to send your project plan. I thought I'd make some changes and send it to her, but I couldn't open your computer," he admitted. "I was going to tell you, but Beth seemed suspicious, and I didn't want to cause you more trouble."

Jasmine's frown deepened, a mixture of frustration and disappointment washing over her. "Listen, don't act on your own. Inform me immediately if anything happens. Understood?"

Tom nodded, his shoulders slumping in relief at not being outrightly reprimanded further.

Jasmine knew he meant no harm, but his actions could have had serious repercussions. Besides, it wasn't like Tom to devise such a plan on his own. Someone else had to be behind it, manipulating the strings—either Ethan or Connor.

"Have you investigated Beth?" Jasmine asked Tom.

"Yes, there's definitely something off, but I can't find out who she's working for." Tom nodded.

Jasmine thought for a moment, then opened her computer, modified the new energy project plan, sent it to herself via email, and transferred and deleted all important files in her computer likewise. "Tell her you don't know the password and that if she wants it, she should come to the office herself."

Jasmine wanted evidence. The office had hidden cameras. If Beth dared to come in and touch her computer, everything would be recorded.

When the new energy project plan was leaked, Beth would be suspected of leaking company secrets, which was a criminal offense. At that point, whoever's plan resembled hers would be the buyer.

"Yes, that's what I was thinking!" Tom said. "I thought about luring her in and setting a trap."

Jasmine rubbed her temples. "She's not stupid. Don't make it too obvious. Let her beg you a bit. Don't agree right away; wait until she offers you a handsome reward."
