Chapter 723 Is the Body Found by the Police Emily?

A day and night passed with no news. Jasmine couldn't sleep and paced the living room.

Lily came downstairs, her belly already larger than average.

Jasmine was still waiting for news about Emily.

Lily choked out. "I'm sorry, it's all my fault."

Jasmine shook her head. "Now is not the time to blame anyone; we need to find Emily first."

Lily nodded.

"Is the baby okay?" Jasmine asked.

She and Lily got pregnant around the same time, but Jasmine's belly wasn't showing at all. Jasmine had a retroverted uterus, so it might not be very noticeable. She got pregnant even earlier than Lily.

"Yes, it's twins. The doctor said both are boys." Lily looked down at her belly and smiled gently.

Lily's bargaining chips were two boys.

Kerea tycoons valued inheritance and legacy, making boys crucial.

This was why Amara, despite her abilities, couldn't gain the higher-ups' support—she was a woman.

Ironically, Lily, with her two unborn children, could secure 80% support from the Powell family.

"That's your good fortune," Jasmine said softly.

As long as Emily was safe, she would take Emily back and not let her stay to help Lily anymore.

"Emily stayed to help me out of kindness, but she got kidnapped." Lily choked out. "We agreed that after the babies were born, both would recognize her as their godmother."

Jasmine turned away to wipe her tears. She had also agreed with Emily that she would be the godmother when the baby was born.

Jasmine replied, "She'll be fine."

Emily had already suffered enough in her life.

She had only met scumbags.

Now, she finally saw some hope and light.

She must be okay.

"Jasmine, will this cooperation affect you and Ethan?" Lily nervously held Jasmine's hand. "I'm sorry. I was really forced into a corner and had to make a choice. Choosing Bradley is much better than Daniel. Can you forgive me?"

Jasmine looked at Lily, somewhat unfamiliar, and nodded. "I don't blame you. Bradley is also from the Douglas family. It doesn't matter. We have LY and the Raymond Group."

Lily breathed a sigh of relief, her eyes complicated. "That's good, that's good."

Jasmine glanced at the time. "It's already late. You should go to sleep. For the sake of the baby, you need to sleep early."

"You should sleep too." Lily looked at my belly. "When the babies are born, let's arrange a marriage for them."

Jasmine was stunned for a moment; she would never let her child be in danger.

"We don't even know if it's a boy or a girl yet." Jasmine politely declined. "Besides, you can't force matters of the heart."

Lily nodded. "Yes."

Leaning on the sofa, Jasmine rubbed her temples in frustration.

Ethan hadn't slept either and was on a video call with Jasmine.

"Get some sleep. Raymond will contact me first thing." Ethan reassured Jasmine. "I'll watch over you, just take a nap."

Jasmine lay on the sofa, her voice hoarse. "Ethan, do you trust Lily?"

Ethan remained silent for a long time before softly saying, "You only need to trust yourself and me."

Jasmine understood what Ethan meant.

What could she do?

She was starting to doubt Lily too.

Doubt was like a seed; once it took root and sprouts, it was hard to eradicate.

Sighing, Jasmine spoke softly, "I really don't want her to go down that path."

"Don't worry. She's not completely without a conscience. If it really is her, it might actually be a good thing. Emily will definitely be fine." Ethan comforted Jasmine.

"I hope so."

Jasmine fell into a groggy sleep.

Ethan stayed on the video call, watching over her.

The next morning, around 6:40, Jasmine woke up with a start.

The video call was still on, and Ethan was in the kitchen making breakfast for the kids.

"Awake?" Ethan smiled at Jasmine. "Raymond said he found a lead. We should find Emily soon. Don't worry, you must eat breakfast."

Jasmine nodded and glanced at Lily coming downstairs.

"Jasmine, I had someone prepare breakfast. Do you like the soup?" Her voice was hoarse, and she looked genuinely sad.

Jasmine hesitated again, unsure if Lily was friend or foe.

"Lily." Jasmine ended the video call and sat at the dining table. "Emily has been very good to us. She's a good person."

Lily paused while serving Jasmine soup and nodded. "I know. We have depended on each other. When I was most helpless, it was Emily who told me about her past and kept comforting me."

Emily's life had been rough. In her teens, she was tricked by a scumbag into dropping out of school and later fled from him to survive, only to meet a married man who conspired with the first to get her imprisoned.

After her release, she met another scumbag at a club, lost a child, and her ability to have children.

Lily choked out. "If I could, I would rather be the one kidnapped."

Jasmine took a sip of the soup. "I hope she comes back safely."

Around noon, there was still no news about Emily.

In the afternoon, Tom and Ben returned.

"Did you find her?" Jasmine's voice trembled; she was afraid of hearing bad news.

Ben glanced at Tom.

Tom scratched his head. "We found someone, but we're not sure. Raymond went to confirm."

"What do you mean you found someone but are not sure and need to confirm?" Jasmine said in a panic, her voice hoarse and choked.

Tom clenched his hands and took a deep breath. "Jasmine, you need to be prepared. The police found a body in the back alley, in the sewer. They haven't confirmed the identity yet. Raymond went to confirm."

Before Tom finished speaking, Jasmine was already unsteady.

Lily's spoon fell into the soup bowl, and she stood up abruptly. "Impossible."

Jasmine's vision went black, and Ben caught her.

"Doctor!"

Before passing out, Jasmine couldn't believe what she had heard.

Could that body be Emily?

It couldn't be Emily.

How could she be dead?

She was so optimistic; she said she would be the godmother to the baby.

Jasmine thought, 'Emily. Please don't die.'

"She'll be fine. Emily will be fine." Lily cried, trying to go to the police station, but Tom stopped her.

"Let's wait for the news. Raymond hasn't returned yet, so it's not confirmed." Tom tried to calm Lily down.

Jasmine lay in bed for a long time before waking up. The doctor and Ben were there.

"Emily."

"Don't worry, they're still confirming. No news from Raymond is the best news." Ben reassured Jasmine.

Jasmine closed her eyes, tears burning.

If something really happened to Emily, she wouldn't be able to accept or face it.
