Chapter 729 Sophia Died at Lily's Hands
May didn't think she had ruined Jasmine's life.
Jasmine wasn't Benjamin's daughter, nor was she May's. Why should she suffer Karen's hatred for May, endure five years of torment, and then be framed and imprisoned?
The door suddenly swung open. Jasmine stood in the doorway, trembling, staring at May. She had suspected the truth, but hearing it from May herself made her shake with anger.
Startled, May averted her gaze. Of everyone she'd wronged, Jasmine and Cordelia weighed heaviest on her conscience.
Cordelia also lost control and rushed in, giving May a hard slap. "Bitch!"
It was because of May and Sophia, these two venomous sisters, that Cordelia had been separated from her daughter for so many years, causing Jasmine to suffer so much!
"Bitch!" Cordelia cried out uncontrollably.
May was too scared to speak, remaining silent.
Arnold supported Cordelia. "Your mother is too emotional. I'll take her away first."
Cordelia was still crying and hitting May. Arnold, afraid she might collapse from anger, held her and left.
Jasmine stood there, suddenly laughing weakly.
The five years of torment Jasmine endured now it seemed like a nightmare in retrospect.
"God is watching you. You are already being punished. Your daughter is dead, your son won't acknowledge you or take care of you. You will live alone, tormented and in pain. You don't deserve to die; even hell won't take you," Jasmine said hoarsely, gritting her teeth and forcing out each word with hatred.
May turned pale with fear and looked at Richard. "Even if I did so much, I never wronged you. I raised you; you can't abandon me. You have to take care of me, give me money."
"People who make mistakes must accept punishment," Richard said hoarsely, taking a step back.
Richard would not take care of May.
May lost control and shouted, "Richard, what do you mean?"
"May, these are all the medical expenses incurred during your treatment at our hospital, totaling $1,370,780. Please settle the bill before you are discharged, or we will sue you," said a hospital staff member, holding the bill.
May collapsed on the bed, starting to go mad.
Unfortunately, the hospital wouldn't indulge her.
"If you want this debt to be written off, you need to come forward and testify against Sophia and provide evidence," Raymond said as he walked in, his words carrying a threat.
May finally understood that these people had saved her to go against Sophia.
"Don't think about anything else. Sophia can't even protect herself now; she can't help you." Raymond reminded her again.
May had no choice but to compromise. "I agree."
May didn't die; she turned herself in to the police, something Sophia never expected.
May had evidence of Sophia swapping the children and silencing witnesses.
She had planned to use it to extort money from Sophia once she became wealthy.
Unexpectedly, this evidence sent May to prison.
When Sophia heard the news, she went mad. She tried to flee the country and asked Alex to get rid of May, but Alex refused.
William found Alex and paid him to leave, telling him to stop helping Sophia. Alex left, and Sophia's mercenary team disbanded, leaving only a few incompetents.
Sophia still had a plan. She drove to the border, trying to escape, unaware that Lily's people were waiting for her.
In Kerea, Lily received a call from Sophia, saying May was still alive and being hunted by the police.
Even at this point, Sophia was still using Lily's secrets to threaten her. "You better send someone to pick me up and bring me to your place."
Sophia thought Lily was still the obedient, timid little girl she used to be, but Lily had grown into a venomous snake.
Lily smiled and said, "Don't worry. I'll make sure you get to me alive."
After hanging up, Lily looked at her subordinate. "Handle it cleanly."
The subordinate nodded and left.
The news of Sophia's death came back a week later. Her body was found at the border, and she had died a miserable death.
Sophia probably never expected that she would endure inhuman torture before her death, all thanks to Lily.
Lily hated her, but Sophia thought she could control Lily.
Upon hearing the news of Sophia's death, Jasmine didn't feel particularly happy; she had long stopped caring.
"Jasmine, did you hear the news? Sophia is dead," Lily called Jasmine, chuckling. "Do you think this is what you meant by 'what goes around comes around'? It's so satisfying. I heard she went through a lot before she died, quite miserable, a real punishment."
Lily's voice carried a chill.
Jasmine frowned, gripping her phone tightly. "Yes, what goes around comes around. No one is an exception."
Lily was silent for a bit then said, "I know you blame me for Emily's death, but I had no choice."
Since Jasmine already knew, there was no need to hide it.
Lily laughed, a bit maniacally. "Jasmine, I didn't want to either. Do you know how much I liked Emily? She was such a good person. She would comfort me, talk to me, tell me about her past, and keep me company."
"Do you know? During my toughest days, you and Emily got me through. I thought we were the best sisters, that we could do so many meaningful things together. With you and Ethan around, I felt protected, like I could escape those nightmares forever. But alas."
Lily laughed. "You didn't manage it either, did you? I don't blame you, not at all. I actually understand. No one can protect anyone else. As you taught me, we can only protect ourselves if we are strong. Women need to be strong!"
"Is that your reason for killing Emily?" Jasmine asked angrily, her whole body shaking.
Lily cried. "Jasmine, don't question me like that. I didn't mean to kill her. Do you believe me? I really didn't want to kill her. I even thought about keeping her locked up for life, taking care of her. I never thought about killing her!"
Lily was crying and shouting.
Jasmine's tears were uncontrollable.
"Lily, you've made every wrong move. There's no turning back for you."
